View Full Version : Just an observation

I'm 5'6, and at my last DR appointment a month ago I weighted 120lbs. My BMI is 19.4 (I think). I've been reading about the LE diet and losing a little weight when TTC a girl.
I thought about the last 4 people I know who had babies in the last year and here's my observation: This is not a judgement, just an observation:

1. My coworker who is really obese, at her baby shower, you couldn't even tell she was pregnant because she's that overweight-she gave birth to a beautiful little girl
2. My church friend -again she's really obese too, you couldn't tell she was pregnant until a week before she gave birth to her adorable little girl
3. My boss she's overweight, again if you knew her before and during the pregnancy, you couldn't tell the difference, she gave birth to a lovely baby boy.
4. A family friend. she's super thin, a vegetarian, eats healthy. she just had a handsome baby boy.

So, I'm thinking maybe losing weight or having an "average BMI" does not have an effect on the gender of the baby. I don't know....

A short answer:

Lady 1. no idea how she eats. Nooooo it is not her BMI or losing weight. Is she eating crud where her blood sugar spikes and falls? Is her natural body chemistry prone to not regulating blood sugar well? What is she burning for energy? WE DONT KNOW.

Lady 2. Ditto

Lady 3. She may be obese...but who cares? Is she on a healthful diet whilst ttc? Taking vites and getting lots of sleep?

4. She makes perfect sense. Still could be a fluke. WE DONT KNOW.

What we DO know....is by eating a lower protein, lower blood sugar inducing diet and reducing muscle mass, sways pink. So do we do what we know.

HTH! :)

It is NOT body type/size per se that is swaying. It is maternal condition and fertility levels. It is totally possible to be thin and have boys and be heavy and have girls.

The reason why we lose weight for pink is because it is a much healthier and reliable way to gently decline our condition/fertility overall. Trying to gain a bunch of weight to sway pink would be silly and dangerous.

If you don't believe in it, don't do it. Holds true of every sway tactic out there. :)

Being obese is not healthy so makes sense your obese friends would have girls. Your skinny friend is probably much healthier and therefore more likely to have a boy. Lets not forget many women get a mix of girls and boys without knowingly doing anything to their diet. Swaying is just that, swaying. You can do everything by the book and still not get what you tried for. If you look at the results on here the diet seems to do the trick for most(not all). There are no certainties but if you desire a particular gender and are wanting another child (irrespective of its sex) there is no harm in trying!
I would LOVE to have a daughter and will give it a good good. The research makes sense and I'm very happy to loose the extra pounds (baby weight) along the way.
Ultimately you need to want another child and then read the available research/review results so you can make the choice with as much knowledge as you require to do so.
