View Full Version : A question about nubs

Another question :)
The chances of us getting a scan picture with a nub shot are, I feel, very slim.
What I am pondering is will I see the nub during the scan? Are the chances if seeing a nub high or low? I'm no expert so is it pointless me looking for one?
Over thinking here :)

Oh i saw the nub heaps during the scan, I knew it was a boy within minutes and didnt even look at my baby's face until the very end :giggle: good thing is when they measure the length there is the nub, and also if it is still in shot when they measure the nuchal fold, there is the nub. You can simply ask for a good full body profile shot if you dont feel comfortable bringing up the nub. You will definatly see it though but it might be quick glimpses, hit youtube and watch heaps, you will be an expert in no time :)

It was the first thing I saw at my scan it was that obvious lol I was trying to stay team green but literally 2 seconds into the scan I saw it and instantly thought I could have a pink one.. still doubted it to be true of course until I had my anatomy scan :)

I have had 3 boys and I have to say at my 12 week u/s with each one I was definitely able to determine they were boys. Totally obvious for me and the u/s tech.

I can't believe I didn't notice it with my first two, before I even knew about the nub theory. I think the only catch is that the baby can be in a tricky position.

I had a scan at 13 weeks with DS 4 and DD and my doctor's office does not do gender at that stage. I could tell with both what their gender was during the scan, even tho with DS 4 I still hoped I was wrong and with DD I hoped I was right until it was confirmed. I didn't get good pics with either, it was what I saw on the screen during the scan that convinced me.

I have to say I'm even more excited for the scan now
Nervous too though ;)

With my last boy i didnt see a nub through the whole scan but this time this baby had a typical stacked nub the entire way thru yet somehow my pics managed to capture a flat more girly line....i got more girl guesses on my nub than boy but i brought blue because it was so obvious during the entire scan i 'knew' he was a boy

Just be careful! Not all nubs cooperate! I am by no means a nub expert, but I swear I saw a girl nub at my son's 12 week scan. He was asleep or something during the scan and didn't move at all, so I had a great view of it the entire time. It was totally flat. No rise, nothing. It looked like all the girl nubs I see on here. I really wanted a boy, and we chose to have a surprise in the delivery room, but I was convinced from that nub (as well as a strong gut feeling) that I was having a girl. I was so shocked when he was born!

I don't know . . . I got multiple nub shots at every scan. some were clearer pics than others. None were 100% clear but probably 80% clear.

This one was the same. I thought I saw a very clear girl nub multiple times during the scan- but didn't get any pictures showing a nub. I was actually shocked when I was told boy at 16 weeks
