View Full Version : Estrogen from plastic, silently swaying?

A lady I know has sadly been struck with breast cancer. Something that has been brought to her attention by her oncologist is that her particular type of cancer is feeding off estrogen so she was told to no longer drink water out of plastic bottles because apparantly when the plastic bottles or anything else containing BPA gets hot, it releases estrogen!
Just wanted to post because it seems to me that this could be having a silent but perhaps fairlly strong swaying effect.

A friend of mine also has breast cancer, and was just posting this on FB! It is scary! I drink out of stainless steel, and my kids do too. I just found out that dental sealants have BPA in them, which horrifies me, because DD1 just had them put on her teeth a year or so ago. I never wold have done it if I had known. I will refuse sealants for the other kids.

I read somewhere (God knows where) that if you are pg with a baby girl (and all her eggs for her lifetime form in your body) and the exposure to the estrogen effect from plastics etc, can affect her in the future (pcos etc). I imagine there is some affect on baby boys as well, who knows.
BUt sometimes i think much of swaying is out of our control, if you are affected by things your mother did looong ago (well...it was long ago for me LOL)

:agree: the genetic blueprint for the egg that will become your daughter, actually formed in your GRANDMOTHER'S body (because all baby girls are born with all their eggs, so the egg that is you and the genetic data you contain to pass down, formed in your grandma's body when your mom was hanging out in there)

That's all slightly terrifying, I knew about the bpa and have been a strict bpa-free buyer for a while now, and changed all my plastic microwave containers to glass a few years back, but the theory that your grandmother and mothers diet and exposures affect yours and your daughters so heavily, although obvious, is something I hadn't considered in terms of any baby I may have, could be compromised because of my mum and grandmothers decisions!
Now I'm thinking about how much mum smoked and drank and probably did drugs (1970s). Sigh. So much for my clean living.

Somehow I forgot to mention this the first time thru but I'm not sure how much I buy into this idea for swaying. Reason being, estrogen would = more boys, but it's the numbers of girl conceptions that's been climbing. Our Stolen Future: Declining sex ratio in a First Nation community in Ontario. I wouldn't worry about the sway factor either, but the health issues are interesting and worrying.
As a side note I had two boys while using non-bpa free water bottles and plastic microwave containers. But I did a whole lot of other things that inadvertently swayed boy too.

Well the BPA lower testosterone in men and raise estrogen in women, as well as contribute to insulin resistance which is kind of what fits in with what is happenin' at gender dreaming although I would imagine its like excessive exposure to BPAs that make a difference..
Sorry about the zombie in this article lol
