Be gentle but truthful, the doc gave her opinion of BOY so I'm trying to prepare for that. These are the only pics I got and I don't think its the full nub, but I don't know if you need more than that. In the scan I saw a long forked nub but didn't get a pic of it. I couldn't tell the angle though when I saw the complete nub!

I think the 'sticking straight up bit' is the cord, the small flat thing below is the nub but I do not think you can make a good guess because I do not think the whole nub is seen, sorry

I don't see a nub. Your doctor may not be guessing based on the nub, so I would be reluctant to just trust her guess. If you saw something long and flat, then it sounds like a girly nub. good luck!

i can't see anything that sounds or rather looks like a boy - bit sticking up is way too big for nub, small thing below maybe a partial nub but i would have said girl especially at that gestation.

Did the doc sound like they knew what they were doing - mine was adamant she was a girl at 12 week scan but i didn't believe her although watching dvd back nub was long and flat i just thought it was too good to true. At the time they told me the routinely sex at the 12 week scan now based on nubs but this was a private scan

No the doc just said, that it is probably a boy, she looked between the legs and only saw cord, but for some reason thought boy. She had no real reason which I thought was weird. I didn't even ask her about the nub theory. Honestly when I saw the real full nub it was long and forked, but I couldn't really tell on the angle, when I saw the print outs I saw that what looked like could have been the nub, looked angled.

Well that is really nice to hear because honestly these shots have way more angle than the real thing did in the scan. I think I allowed myself to be deflated because of the docs guess! I'm not doing an elective scan so I wont see this little guy until the beginning of May!!!!

I've just woken up to go to the bathroom but didn't want to read and run... (Or read and sleep). If the doctor didn't look at nub angles then predictions are useless. The fetal medicine specialist didn't do a single potty shot when trying to guess with ours.

The whole nub isn't captured on the pics but what's there looks girly. I think you're back to 50/50.

The dr took it of baby's hand but the more I look at it the more I think it might have a nub shot, and if so, might be boy. the hand is where the head is, baby had hands up around head area, so if that is the case, is this, could this be a nub shot? it could be the nub but then it could be anything theres no context and you can't tell if the body is angled or in the right position even if it is a nub. i do understand you not wanting to get your hopes up or assuming blue to protect yourself but i really do think you just can't tell if anything i'd lean pink :bighug:

I definitely get that. 100%. I would and will feel the same for sure. At least no matter what you know you tried everything in your power to give yourself the best chance of a girl. If its a boy, then maybe you are just meant to raise boys. Maybe nobody raises them better than you?! Maybe its just coincidence (I once flipped a coin that came up heads 20 times before it came up tails). Either way if its a boy there was no way it could ever have been anything else. If it's a girl... WOOOOOHOOOOO!

Thorz - bless your heart. I know that feeling well, of understanding you have a healthy baby & that you KNOW you will love him - but that you also need time to accept that you are having another boy & to process that. Be gentle on yourself, let yourself grieve - it's OKAY to grieve the loss of a baby girl. I thought I would never get over the sadness during my 7th pregnancy & 6th baby boy & now, I love him so much & am grateful that I do, but I remember well the process I had to go through in order to get to my happy point.

So long & short - Congratulations!!! How wonderful to be pregnant with a healthy, sweet, new, little one - he's a brand new person that you are growing! And I'm sorry Mama that it wasn't the news of a girl (((giant hugs & lots of tenderness & love to you)))

The worst issue I have is that people won't be happy for me, or also actually feel bad for me that I have all boys. So.. I don't have pics from the recent scan because it was at the hospital checking on placenta previa and the tech looked for me, but because it was not a gender scan and was purely to check the placenta, I wasn't given pics. The potty shot was 14 weeks 5 days the last scan was actually 15weeks 6 days. I still am not allowing myself to believe it!

This is my 14w5d scan where I was told boy but even then it wasn't obvious to the tech it took her a bit to decide on boy.

Rollercoster for sure but better this way round than the other huh. I've not seen many 15 week gender scans but that pic doesn't scream boy to me! I'd book in the extra scan, if you can get it for free... You'll spend the rest of your time until the 20 week scan guessing and wondering anyway. And it's always nice to see bubs. :-)

Ok so I zoomed in on my 14w3d scan (I don't know why I never did that before) and now I think I see 3 distinct parts to these bits, I could be wrong, and I am still planning on boy, but EVERYONE so far on ingender thinks even my "boy" scan at 14w5d looks more girl so here is the regular pic and zoomed in. I agree... the three lines (which I see also) isn't parallel with the legs. Makes me think it might be something else all together. Do you have any other shots? Did you get a video? Maybe it is the cord or a hand. Do you remember in your scan if they got a good shot of the gender or was it a flash that they had to back the video up to get a photo (kwim??).

Thorz -- I can see those three lines too and honestly have no idea what to make of them. But I am also not an experienced tech. I would call the place back and tell them you had an unexpected ultrasound for medical reasons where they told you 85% girl. If they are a good business, they'll HAVE to let you come back in free of charge. I mean, the tech I had said that she'd have you come back if she wasn't 100% certain. I know you said you want to wait until 20 weeks but you are almost 17 weeks and I think that's already a much safer zone than your first scan at just under 15 weeks. Call them and schedule it for later this week (and do us ALL a favor, hehe).

Usually the techs get lots of good looks during the ultrasound and are pretty sure when they guess gender but I was not at all convinced by that pic at the time. thought it looked like VJ and either a curl of the cord or a teeny hand. I just read on another post called boy or girl 14 weeks (i think), i posted on it anyway so in my posts - that gender can be determined from 16 - 18 weeks, implying earlier was just not accurate. Have a look. It was Rainbow Baby that did the research. X

Those pics look like some of the ones a tech from ingender posted of her daughter. The thread is a sticky and a cautionary tale of why NOT to have a gender scan in the 14th week.

On balance, I think you're probably having a girl.

Dr was so excited for me, she got 7 different shots of it, and forgot to give me a pic of the actual baby lol. Dr was so excited for me, she got 7 different shots of it, and forgot to give me a pic of the actual baby lol. That is ok because she is gonna check again in 2 weeks just to be sure and to check on my placenta, it is still close enough to my cervix to make her anxious!!

Huge congrats!! I can certainly understand your disbelief after first being told boy. I still can't fully believe I'm having a girl even after several scans!

Your pics are 100 % girl though and very clear so don't worry. Easier said than done though I know, if your anything like me you won't believe it till she's here!

Thank you! I've seriously almost convinced myself this is a boy and the penis is hiding! Good thing I have another scan next week! If they still see obvious girl parts then I'll start believing it.......I hope!
