Had my scan yesterday and was really throwing as baby had its back to me and could not see a clearly recognisable nub, certainly nothing that looked like a girl. All that I did see was lots of lines all over the place and perhaps a stacked nub. How much does the correct position matter, or should I trust my insist which say 80 percent boy?? Have been in tears since the scan when I should be phoning everyone telling them the news!!

Baby has to be in a side profile view to guess the angle for a nub. Under 30% girl over boy. If he/she wasn't in that position I would doubt it counts at all!! Baby also has to be right side up and not wrong way down as my Mr 5 likes to say :) Hold on to your next scan and go from there! As long as baby is healthy :) Did your Ultrasound Tech give you a guess?

Hi, no she was annoyed that I even asked which made me feel even worse. I thought I would just be delighted to see the heart beat so am surprised I feel so deflated, not helped by sickness!!
Thanks for your answer, it has helped

Ahh them u/s techs have to deal with a lot don't mind her rude tone, who knows what happened to her that day! I think it is only natural that you want to know the gender :) You can ring everybody and tell them baby's healthy and the gender is still a surprise. Don't be upset. I am assuming you have another scan in a few weeks and that one is way more accurate. No way I would buy cloths or paint rooms based on a nub shot guess by even a trained tech!! My 3rd son was a girl at 12 weeks apparently :)
