View Full Version : Flaxseed instead of Fish Oil

DH is a very strict vegetarian and wont take fish oil supps. So I bought flaxseed oil supps for him. Is that good enough/just as good?

Get vegetarian sources of Omega 3, NOT Omega 6, and if you can't find that then just drop it all together and increase saturated fat (butter) DH should not take flaxseed oil under any circumstances.

Oh gosh ok! I am glad I just saw this because I just added it into his supps yesterday! He has only taken one so I will go and take them out of his pill thingy right now! Thanks!

Hey Atomic! I just went to to kitchen to get the flaxseed out of his pill case and the container says it is omega 3s not 6s. Is it ok then? Or is it just the flaxseed itself that is bad?

I just saw a research article about men consuming more saturated fat tend to have poorer quality of semen. Doesnt that sway pink?

coffee.... flaxseed oil is great for swaying blue. Green tea, grape fruit freshly squeezed juice, fish oil, big O at least 5times a week will help you with ewcm. But you need lots of protein for boy sway.

OK Atomic now I am confused. Why is flaxseed bad for a blue sway? Or is it just bad for the man to take flaxseed during a sway? I am taking extra strength fish oil so I am not taking the flaxseed.

There are two different things going on here so let me take them one at a time to avoid confusion.
The fundamental prob. with flaxseed for DH is that is has things called phytoestrogens (EPO also has these) that mimic the body's natural estrogen. They confuse your body, in some ways they act like estrogen and estrogen for DH can sway pink. And worse still when a man has more estrogen than he should, his body's production of testosterone can decline as well. It is double bad for DH to take flaxseed and EPO.
The problem with the Omega 3/Omega 6 ratio is different. It is really not great for your health to ingest more Omega 6 fats than Omega 3's. It causes a lot of problems for your health including depression and higher risks of cardiovascular disease. Plus, research has shown that higher intake of Omega 6's than Omega 3's, in animals, sways pink. So when you are swaying, you MUST be sure you are getting more Omega 3 (and this is why I recommend taking double fish oil to EPO). Flaxseed, while it does have a form of Omega 3 in it, has chemistry in it that inhibits the conversion of that form into a type that is better used by your body so the Omega 3 in flaxseed is basically useless and you are really just taking a big dose of Omega 6 when you take it. It is fine as long as you are taking significantly more fish oil or other Omega 3 like Krill Oil, than you are the flaxseed.

Just for anyone who is wondering, Omega 9's are a bit of a marketing gimmick, you do not need to ingest them becasue your body makes them all on its own out of other fats.

No, saturated fat intake as a part of an otherwise healthy diet sways BLUE. People need saturated fat to make the sex hormones and you can't do without them. It has been demonstrated that animals fed diets high in fats had way more male offspring.
That study was flawed because people with unhealthy diets tend to eat more saturated fats, and overweight guys also tend to eat more sat. fat and also have lower sperm count due to their weight. so really all it measured was "people with unhealthy diets and who are overweight have lower sperm quality". :)
Blue swayers, have your husband eat a reasonable amount of saturated fat as a part of an otherwise healthy diet including omega 3 fats (fish oil, olive oil) and also 9-11 servings of colorful fruits and veg a day.

What is the best way to get Omega 3's? I'm trying to decide what sups to buy, and don't know if I can get this DHA/EFA supplement (which reportedly doesn't taste like fish oil, and so I won't be burping up fish oil all the time! LOL) It's made up of 2100+mg molecularly distilled fish oil and contains 800 mg EFA and 400mg DHA. Does that look good? Or should I find something that is just straight fish oil capsules? Also, I guess Cod LIver oil is not good because of the high VIt A? So which fish oil is the best? Salmon or Krill?

We have found a new "sway butter" that we LOVE! And I have been using it with cooking everything (along with Olive Oil) it is a smart balance and it is in a square container and it advertises on that container that it is full of omega 3!
I would rather you guys ahd real butter because the smart balance is designed to lower cholesterol and we don't want that for your sway.

that one is fine but I would take half the dose (the dose is 2 pills so you would just take one). sky high doses of fish oil will lower your cholesterol and that is not good for your blue sway
i prefer people stay away from cod liver oil, so anythign without the high amount of Vit. A in it
