View Full Version : 3 failed ivf for family balancing

Hi
I introduced myself a while back.
I have 2 beautiful boys, age 7 and almost 5.
Saying I dream of a girl is an understatement. I lost my mom when I was 2, I have never experienced any side of a mother/daughter relationship, the longing for pink, and hair bows and dresses is indescribable. I never imagined I wouldn't have my own little girl....
A year ago we made the decision to go with IVF with PGD to family balance. We have now had three failed IVF's and lost 5 female embryos and have none left, and said this was the last try. I am beyond heartbroken. I had no fertility issues with my boys so we all thought our chances of success were extremely high!
We just found out today but i'm clearly in no place to decide whats next....
we had talked adoption before ivf and even applied only to be told they stopped taking applications, just feels the universe is against me....
Need to grieve and then soul search, do we play russian roulette? or maybe do one of these swaying plans? I would love to see stats of success....
Thanks for listening
Chantel

So sorry :(
If you are going be okay with another boy then I think you should try and sway at least that way you know you did what you could...
Are you able to adopt from a different country?

I need to take some time to soul search and see how I really feel about it all, of course I would love any baby, but it doesn't get to the core root of the big empty space in me.....I don't think financially we can do another country adoption....

so sorry--I would definitely sway if you are okay with a boy. I hope you figure it out and we are all here to help!

So did you just do one fresh cycle and go back for frozen embryos? Or are they 3 full cycles?
How old are you? Where did you cycle?

i'm 32....cycled in Syracuse, NY....1st retrieval, 2 fresh transfers, then a frozen transfer with 2...took break, retrieval in April, low numbers, decided to to one more retrieve....6 embryos and only had 1 girl...transfered her...no go :(

:(
Do your soul searching and then decide what's best for you... If you have another boy I'm guessing you will still have the emptiness
Is there a foster adopt program where you are?

We haven't talked about fostering recently but hubby didn't feel he could do it, thought he'd be too attached and I worry about the boys getting attached too....my 5 yr old was convinced mommy was having a baby girl this time....there was so much karma around this cycle it wasn't even funny, feeling numb

Iīm so sorry nurse2003, If you decide to sway for a girl, then you need to be ready to have a babyboy. I did sway for a girl with my second child and it didnīt work for me. So now Im gonna try ht. I hope you find your way and a peace of mind.

Hi nurse, I could have wrote this myself. We have just found out that our 3rd good cycle (but 4th in total) has just failed. I just do not know where to go from here. I get between 10 and 15 follicles good fertility rate but only end up with 2 A grade HB's. I am 38 though so my time is running out pretty quickly. So sorry you are feeling this pain too.

nurse- r u done with ivf? I am 35 well was 34 when I did ivf.I was a carrier for another couple. They transferred 2 embies (frozen) one good quality 3 cell & one poor 6 cell.one stuck for the first cycle & I delivered a healthy baby boy Feb 2.if u think u can handle ivf again my suggestion would be Supp to increase your egg quality fertilaid for men for dh & lots of ACUPUNCTURE starting day after transfer and every other day for 2 weeks.that's what worked for me.acupuncture increases ivf by 60%.I'm so sorry.this is a great site for help & support!

I am so sorry about the HT heartbreak. I know it can be such a gamble.
IF you decide to sway, then yes, you must recognize that swaying is a gamble too but might be worth it. You have come to Gender Dreaming at a good time.
Every sway that produces a baby gives Atomic and NBP more info on what works and what doesn't. Their are a lot of best practices. For example, of all the reported sways one person pointed out that all those who did intense cardio got a girl. So even though that isn't the magic bullet their are things that have proven quite effective.
Many of us study why we have all of one gender, I have 3 girls and no boys, and then do the opposite. My normal diet is so LE it isn't funny, the HE diet has been hard for me and I have gained 15lbs which means my body can't normally eat this way or I'd be HUGE! But hopefully it will get me a baby boy!!!
Never give up, we only get one shot at this life and if you have the chance to have your dreams come true, then take it.
RKT mama has a similar story and she's a nurse too (I think)! Check out her posts and story and I think you will find a lot of hope.

Thank you for your kind words....hubby said this was the last one, financially we could kinda do more, but then a lot of things around the house would be pushed back more...I think we need time to mourn before making any other decisions...russian roulette...adopt...or stop

Nurse & Frilly so sorry its taking you both so many cycles. Have a look at my signature and how I get better quantity and quality from cycle 1 to 4.
I highly recommend you having a consult with Dr Potter for his opinion. His success rates are amazing.

Thanks Vicky, our very 1st retrieval ended in 15 eggs, 11 good, 11 fertilized, 8 chromosomally stable with 5 girls and 3 boys, transfered 2 girls, and only 2 girls to freeze, did the FET with those 2 girls and failed....things weren't as great this time, I think the IVF/PGD days are done...and i'm almost the farthest in the world away from Australia I think!

I did not want to read and run. I am so sorry you have been through so much and have or yet achieved your dream. I am currently getting beat up by the whole process as well... On my last cycle and just don't know what to do if it does not work. I wish you peace in whatever you decide. I just wanted to clarify Vicky cycled here in the United States...hrc is in California.

I'm sorry Frilly. Have you ever been tested for insulin resistance? Any immunity testing?

nurse2003, I feel your pain - and I know it hurts so bad.
I am in a similar situation, as you can see from my sig/posts - never had fertility issues before (two boys age 7 (almost 8!) and 4)...
...and now after 3 failed cycles I am being told I have poor ovarian reserve - I feel so old! (38!).
I have just been told by my doctor that egg donor is my best bet...well, I am not ruling it out but not ready to go there just yet...I am going to try a different protocol (micro dose Lupron Flare) and DHEA, acupuncture etc
I feel what you feel & I want a daughter so much - we have decided not to give up until I am 40!
Don't give up

Michaela and glory know way more than I do. I would get an insulin resistance test done though. That's an easy one. I would make a post and see what the girls think. You make lots of embryos so I just wonder if there is an underlying reason for things to not work out for you!

Hi nurse
I am sorry about your situation. How old are you? Im justing asking because i heard that 2/3 women over 40 who fall pregnant naturally concieve daughters. The older you get the more likely you are to concieve girls. So even waiting a while to see what your options will not hurt because even if decide to put it off and fall pregnant later in life. You might get your girl!
