I mentioned to my mom that we may have one more child. I causually mentioned that it would be nice to have a girl... (I'm very careful with not sharing my GD feelings)

She says to me "well there might be things you can do. Before I had you I tried to eat certain things. I can't remember all of it but I think it had to do with PH."

I was a bit surprised! I figured she was going to mention timing, but she said it was all about her diet. I thought this was interesting

That is interesting! I was under the impression that swaying was a more modern idea

I'm also very careful with sharing my feelings but when discussing a cousin who has 7 boys and no girls, my 58 year old mom said that "it must be what she's eating."

Interesting! Did she say it was like the LE diet at all?

Yeah, I'm careful not to share any gender stuff too. Just my mom cause she's my rock and DH. He actually Wants a girl!

Funny! Well there are a PILE of old wives tales out there my mom told me about. She doesn't have any idea that I swayed...did you tell her about it?

No I didn't say anything I just said it would be nice to have a girl someday and she started in with telling me things you could eat. I got the impression she mostly ate foods to affect her PH so it wasn't LE but still interesting as I thought it was a fairly modern idea as well! She couldn't remember a lot of it. She was living in California at the time. She's always been very ahead of her time in certain areas especially nutrition.

I could tell her about my GD feelings she is amazing but it's still kinda raw and it hurts to share it :/

Well, modern is a relative term!

Sometimes I have to stop and realize that some of the girls who are presently swaying are born in the late 80's-1990's. So it is totally possible that their moms heard of Shettles and FGD, both of those dated to the 70's era.

LE Diet, is actually my diet that I personally invented so I know exactly when that came from LOL. :)

Trivers Willard Hypothesis, upon which the LE and HE Diets, was first published in 1974. All this stuff dates from very late 60's thru the 70s.
