I would be so grateful for your guesses. The sonographer thought female - but this was only at 14 weeks, so if you believe this could be a boy at 20 weeks I would LOVE to hear that. But if you think there's no way this could turn out to be a boy then I need to accept it.

Thanks ladies!

Hmm.. I could see that going either way. 14 weeks is really not a good time to find out gender. When is your next scan?

oh wow that is really amazing to hear - particularly from the mother of two boys!! I'm really hoping for a boy... My next scan is in two weeks - the scan you've seen was done a month ago. I regret doing it when it was not really going to give me certainty.

So having seen both your boys scans you wouldn't say for sure that this is a girl?

It's the nub, right? I think it's rather girly. For gestation especially. Stranger things have happened though :) Keep us posted if your scan proves this one wrong!

I'm not trying to get your hopes up. I am not an expert by any means and I've never had a scan at that gestation. I was looking more at the protusion and not the angle. It is flat but I don't think nubs are 100%. Good luck at your next scan! I would go in thinking it's a girl just to be safe. I have gone through GD twice now (found out #3 is another boy). Whatever the outcome, please know that everything will be ok.

I'm hoping some more experienced ladies will chime in with their opinions.

Thanks Shiningstar and hotdogz&boyz - you both have my dream family! I do have GD and it's hard to believe now that it will pass, but thanks for the reassurance Shiningstar. And I know I shouldn't get my hopes up - you're both right it's better to go in expecting to hear 'girl', but I can't help still hoping just a bit.
I'm SO glad I'm finding out and not attempting to face a lot of complex feelings about gender with an innocent baby in my arms. Knowing early may have cut my daydream short, but if this is confirmed as a girl, then at least I have time to accept and get myself together before she's born.

Thank you so much both of you for taking the time to reply. I know you aren't sonographers, but youre both mothers of boys which makes you very special and lucky in my mind.

If anyone else has a guess I really would be grateful. It's so good to feel connected like this. There is so much you're not 'allowed' to say when you're pregnant. Youre certainly not allowed to talk about GD.

It looks girly to me. I have wished for a shot like that and never seen one. I think 70 girl, 30 boy. sorry. However, as the others have said it is early days and there is still a sticky outy bit so there is still hope. Could be a boy with a wee Winkie?

Emily - this is great to hear! I'm really sorry our scan results aren't getting to the right mothers. From the sounds of it you'd be delighted with a girl. I just want one little boy! If I don't have my son this time then I'm going to put my all into loving my girl and try again. But there's still a bit of hope....

I know! If only we could give each other our pink or blue dust! There is always hope. My cousin was told girl at her 20 week scan and had a huge shock at delivery. 3 is definitely my limit though. I couldn't cope with any more and time is also against us. Fingers crossed for you.

Congratualtions on your newest little baby. I have to guess girl, too b/c of my recent experience. I was hoping/praying for our girl this time but at our NT Scan 12wk 6days, baby was clearly a boy. I saw the penis & the sac right below. I could not believe we could tell this early b/c w/ my others I only had ultrasounds b/t 18-20wks. So it was a surprise leaving that appt w/ this inforamtion. Boy #4 for us. Best wishes on your next appt.

I think it is a girl too. It should be sticking straight up at 14 weeks and there is no scrotum to be seen. I'm sorry.

Any more hopeful words from anyone? All I'm hoping for at this stage is "that could go either way" I know it is NOT a definite boy pic. But if you can see that there is still hope it MIGHT be a boy at 20 weeks I would be very, VERY glad to hear from you. Thanks! will post link again below...

I don't seem to be able to copy and paste it for some reason. If you look on page 1 of this thread I posted it twice - and the second link works if you click on it - but not if you cut and paste it. No idea why! I would be SO grateful if you could take the time to look. Thanks!

Well I went for my 20week today and while I was too scared to ask if I'm having a boy or a girl the sonographer said the 14 week scan I had was definitely not conclusive! So I am still hopeful. Thank you to those of you who saw a bit of room for doubt...you were right!

If you told her that they told you girl at 14 weeks and they said don't believe it, maybe it is a boy! If not, that's pretty cruel of the u/s tech today. FX he/she fooled us all!

NBP I had the same thought about the tech saying to "forget" about the 14 week scan. Makes me go hmmmmmm.

nuthinbutpink and mommymachine - It is a little suspicious, you're right! But who knows? I feel really confused because some people on this site know so much about angles (flat or 30 degrees etc) and it made me feel like there was no chance the scan could be wrong... If feels like it would take a miracle - but I am officially not in the depths of GD any longer and that is really nice even if I'm mistaken. Right now i'm just glad to feel better - and it has got to be healthier for my baby boygirlboy....
