My DH has a very high sperm count, he is now 51. Does it decease with age?? And if I were to try one more time, would DTD once with a high count work!!! I also don't think he could do the FR if we were to try again, it near killed him last time!! What you all think...

Hi Peb! How are you?? I don't think your supposed to do frequent with a DH his age. I don't remember the specifics as to why I just know its not recommended :)

Frequent release would be hard with so many kids to interupt! I wouldn't attempt it with just my three boys! Good question though, I was wondering the same. It seems my Man has high sperm count too if you just read my signature. He is 41 and is a chronic chain smoker and it still seems like he is more inclined to make sons. If there is a next time I want to plan it very carefully cos 4 would be my absolute limit. Congrats on your 7th

I'm sorry, I answered this and it's still here in autosave but I must not have hit the post button.

Yes, sperm count and quality goes down with age. Some guys are just superhuman and can shake that off though.

Lately I have been coming around to the idea that having older DH do reg. release every 2-4 days, but sticking to the one attempt at pos OPK seems to be getting better results both with swaying and odds of conception.

This chart was really weird, what would you do in this case, I managed to get pregnant that month but it ended in miscarriage, we DTD loads of times that month.
But you can see how it would be confusing if you we're gonna just DTD on pos OPK..
I got a pos OPK a full week before O on this chart..

Also What would you do in this scenario When would you advise to DTD if this happened. Here is an example of one of my charts so you can see what I mean..

Oh sorry peb I thought I had answered this!! :S

I agree that those are the types of situations that are hard to know what to do. But the fact is that even if you don't ovulate for 2-3 days after your first pos OPK, by BD the day of your first pos OPK, you are still in with a good chance of conception. If you wait around wondering "is this it?" then you run the risk of O happening and then you have NO chance.

There is NO way to know, other than in retrospect, if a pos OPK is the real deal or a faker. So it's best to DTD at pos OPK and then maybe you'll O in 24 hours, 36 hours, 48 hours, or even 60 hours, but that's ALL ok because your body is designed to keep sperm alive in the repro tract for up to 5 days afterwards. The vast majority of us were conceived by sperm already in the repro tract at ovulation. It's how the human body is designed and we can get pg that way, it's just a little lower odds.
