View Full Version : I swore I was having a girl, until this pic!

Can anybody help me with my Nuchal scan ultrasound pics? I swore I was having a girl, my husband thought so too, but after I saw the nuchal scan pics it just feels really boy-ish to me. The nub theory and skull theory are great, maybe I just stink at guessing!
It's our first and we are finding out the sex in about 7 more weeks, but I can't take it anymore!

Thoughts? Guesses?

Thanks ladies!

What a cutie! The middle pic shows an upward pointing nub which is meant to indicate a boy. The spine is quite curved though so that might be causing the dangle. I think a girl nub would be shrinking back at this age.

Congrats on a lovely baby.

i kinda disagree and see loads of girl nubs that protrude way more than boy ones.

Deaks do you know when girly nubs shrink back? Is that why they don't like doing private gender scans till 16 weeks because there is some protrusion until then?

BlueJ82 I would put more store by what Deaks says than me. I'm not really sure when the shrinking happens. Deaks what do you think about the angle in this one?

At first I thought boy but the baby's bum is curving so it's really hard to tell. I don't get any clues from the first or last picture.

I could really see this nub going either way but something tells me girl. My friends babies nub (a girl) protruded til 15 weeks and I have noticed that boys tend to go up causing them to protrude less whereas girls just have to retract and the timescale on that can vary. But look I'm not a professional just a self confessed nub-sessor!

Oh and the angle is tricky as the spine is curved. Tricky one.

Well I do feel better that this is tricky to you all. I was worried I just wasn't very good at this! But drat that kid! I appreciate all the responses!

At 13 weeks and 3 days I would expect the nub be more straight up if it were a boy. I would give it a girl lean.

I could see this going either way....the only really clear nub shot I can see is pic 2 and the babies spine is so curved!! Goodluck at your next scan :)

Yeah I'm with everyone else the nub looks like its pointing upward but so does the spine... I'd also go girl, but wouldn't be overly shocked if it was a boy.

Very interested to hear/learn more about this protrusion theory!!

I won't find out until July 26th at the anatomy scan, but I will definitely post back here and let you ladies know! I appreciate all the responses. I am even more excited to find out! We were really hoping for a girl and I thought I was out, but you all have given me some hope!

i think that it you can't see from any of the shots as the spine is curved - but i'm leaning girl - good luck!

Good luck getting that girl! I am with the others on the curved spine and not being sure either way.

A curved spine can falsely flatten an angled nub so as it looks quite pointy already it could be a boy but I am 60/40 boy xx
