View Full Version : Are my chances still good with a 4 week sway?

The 16th marked my 6 week window. And I have been doing terrible. Not eating breakfast. On eating only about 1,000 calories. I drank a little bit of alcohol ad had coffee. Now I'm on my way to WV for a 6 day trip with family and I brought my supps and plan on trying to get snacks in but I'm worried I've ruined my sway. I'm planning on going super strict on my sway when I get back on the 2nd. But that's only 3-4 weeks until I'm in my fertile window. Of that enough time? Or am I going to have to wait until August :(

I hardly ever say this, esp. for blue swayers, but if you've been eating 1000 cals a day, I would skip this month.

:( ok. Thanks for your honest opinion. Do you think I should still start my sway when I get back even though I won't be ttc now until August 26th?

I think you need to think a little differently about the diet. Don't think of it as something you are going to start on a particular day and if you can't do it "right" before that point, you're not going to do it at all. Just start making little changes now that will help you later. try to eat breakfast, snack more often, more real foods, fruit/veg/meat/healhty and sat. fat. Yeah i wouldn't even call it a diet, i would call it a change, and i believe the sooner you change your eating habits the better for your sway. I was on HE foods for 12 months all up.

I am not saying I am happy that you were on the HE for 12 months...but it does make me feel better that I am not the only one. I am going on 9 months of the HE and no BFP yet....back in the 2ww as of today. :worry:

Undoubtedly I have mentioned this before, be sure to read "eating smarter, not harder for blue" or something like that. When I read that my whole mindset shifted and i stopped gaining weight as fast, I have still gained weight since reading that, but not nearly as fast as I was.
The HE is a mentality and after a few months, (for example 9!), it becomes second nature!!
Honestly, I feel better now on the HE than I have felt in years. I cut out gluten in 2009 and that helped tremendously but the HE has taken it to a new level. If I could stay slim on the HE I would keep it up for the rest of my life, but that doesn't seem to be feasible!!

Thank you all for your help! I have come to realize I have some issues with food in general that need to be addressed and that's why this whole transition is hard for me. I am going to slowly start working myself into eating small snacks between meals. And not focus on calories or how much I'm eating. Just that I'm keeping myself from feeling hungry. I think if I even eat as little as 1,500 a day I should be ok as long as what I am eating is good wholesome food. After the way I've been eating for 23 years I'm sure my body will notice the difference. My question now is if I'm going to be focusing on a 1,500 cal diet does that mean I need to make up for what I burn in workouts so I have a full 1,500 instead of eating 1,500 and them burning 250 so I only really have 1,250?

I guess we are in the same boat. Just got af today..so not happy. So on to 5th month on HE and 7th month ttc. On a brighter note, after starting B-complex my luteal phase increased by 1 day and I have been able to decrease my coffee intake to 3 cups from 6 cups/day.

Small steps in the right direction! I have started taking a B vitamin too. I think I really did have the sperm and egg unite 2 cycles ago but my LP isn't what it needs to be.
Good luck missmegrn!!

I would absolutely NOT rely on that as a blue sway tactic. Minimum for blue sway is 2000 cals. Can you get a boy eating that few cals, why of course, pink swayers get opposites eating that little. But I do not recommend it.
Can you do 1800?

Yes I can do 1800. Do you know if with 1800 people are more likely to gain or maintain? Also this area is confusing for me. Since every time I work out I seem to burn around 275ish do I eat 1800 and then burn 275 or do I need to make up for the 275 I burn?

It is different for everyone.
You need to eat as much as you possibly can (within reason) and not worry about taking into account how much you burned off in exercise. 2000 is better than 1800.
You are still thinking of this all wrong - it's NOT "If I eat the perfect amount of calories this is going to get me a son". It's "I need to get more nutrients into my diet and build some muscle mass and even a bit of fat stores, how best can I do that??" So it really doesn't even MATTER if you eat 1800 and burn off 275 or eat 2000 and burn off 150, that is kind of irrelevant. My concern is that if you're doing just the barest minimum and looking at your food intake as "the enemy", I just don't think you're going to be building up much muscle mass that way. I know it's really tough to revise your thinking on this.

Why on earth is this so hard for me? I think the only way I am going to make it work is if I don't count calories. But then I will be concerned that I am not eating enough. I am just going to eat through out the day and make sure I don't feel hungry .. keep working out (snacking in between workouts) take my supps and hope for the best! Either way I will be eating "more" than I do now or ever have ..

I never counted calories, don't even worry about that. As long as you are eating ever 2 hours and you eat until you are full you know your body is getting plenty

I think it will ~probably~ be beneficial to you not to count calories BUT if you are the type of person who just doesn't feel hungry that often, you may need to remind yourself to eat every so often (alarm clock??)

My husband has actually started reminding me to snack. Because he is a big "snacker". So I have just started eating when he eats. He brings me a snack too. He has been really supportive with the delay. He keeps telling me that a May baby would be nicer and blah blah blah so I am happy about that.

The thing that helped me the most was planning my meals for the next day. Since I work full time I wanted to make sure I had everything I needed at work with me

I have an April & a May boy. It's a wonderful time for kids parties and outdoor toys for pressies. I've always loved having my birthday in May too. I'm sandwiched between the two boys' birthdays! I almost feel guilty that this one is due in December and won't have the same outdoors parties etc. I worry it'll all get swept up being too near to Xmas, but read somewhere that one of your boys is near to Xmas too & it just adds to the special time. I hope to create something like that too!

TWO of my boys are at Christmas time. My oldest son is halfway between Thanksgiving and Christmas (Dec. 9), and I really like that because it's a good starting point for festivities without making the holiday really stretch out and take over the whole last month. Then my youngest son is Dec. 21 and I like that too because it's like, ok countdown to Christmas beginning now!! The birthdays really add to the specialness of it.

That is one of the reasons I wanted to try this summer so we could have a late spring baby. Our DD is a November baby and we are always having to pay to have her parties at places and it is so pricey! I am looking forward to hopefully having a Spring/Summer baby so we can have some outdoor parties! But about your other concerns. My birthday is 5 days after Christmas. I have never felt like I was swept under the rug. I LOVED it growing up. It felt special having my birthday close to the holidays and I always felt like I got more gifts haha.
