Tested DH's ph just for fun .. ?

So I know that ph isn't something that needs to be focused on for sways but just for fun I decided to test DH's ph and it is was just as dark if not darker than the 9.0 on the test strip. So I was just wondering if that could help our sway? For example because his seems to be so high that mixing with me might make the environment in there really sperm friendly? I am just speculating here so if I am way off base please just let me know. But I am just curious if his ph being so high might be in our favor and help with our boy sway?

well, it actually depends. His semen pH is not supposed to be that high. He could have an infection or other scarier issue that is harming his sperm and he may need to see a doctor to rule that out (he doesn't need to mention the pH thing, he can just say he had some testicular pain). High pH is no better for sperm than low pH is, and high pH is caused by medical things.

It was most likely just something he drank before testing, but to be on the safe side I'd have him get checked out.

Ohhh great! Now I am freaking myself out. If something is wrong would it cause symptoms? Or could it be because I have him on supps and such a healthy diet that is unintentionally very alkaline food based? He always seems to have a good amount of semen. The color is never off and he never complains of discomfort or anything in that area. Could this PH sway girl? Or can we continue with our sway and worry about this later? ( I'd really not like to have to delay again)

Atomic I just had a thought. Should I eliminate pre seed since his PH is so high? Would the pre seed make the PH inside of me too high mixed with DH or would it help instead? I hope that made sense ..

the preseed is significantly lower in pH than your husband's semen. The issue is not pH at this point, it's WHY is his pH that high, and does he have something going on that is killing off all his sperm. His pH is irrelevant if he has low sperm numbers for some reason.

So should I maybe try and test it again first thing in the morning to see if it was just a fluke because he had already taken his vitamins and stuff that day when I tested it? And then if it is still really high then how do I go about getting him checked out? Do we set up and appointment with his regular doctor or does he need to see a urologist?

Yes, I'd test it more than once, I'd test it a few different times. If it's sky high every time, then I'd just make an appointment with your regular physician and say he had some testicle achiness and see what they want to do. They will prob. do a blood test to see if he has elevated white blood cells that could indicate an infection and they may do a urine test to see if there is blood in his urine, and may feel for a mass. Or they may just prescribe antibiotics. I doubt they would refer him to a urologist unless he has something visibly wrong.

pH of 9 is not normal or healthy no matter what a fella eats.

Infection is usually associated with alkaline ejaculate (pH >8.0_ Azoospermia with low ejaculate volume, fructose negative and acidic may imply obstruction of the ejaculatory ducts. pH over 8.0 may indicate infection. The semen is initially in liquefied state but quickly coagulate by the action of protein kinase secreted by the seminal vesicles. Proteolytic enzymes from the prostate liquefy coagulum in 20-25 minutes. Abnormal liquefaction may be cased by prostatic abnormalities, e.g. prostatitis. Increased viscosity may affect sperm motility

That's what I am hoping! I am going to test his ph first thing tomorrow morning to see if it's lower. When I tested him he had already eaten and taken his supps for the day. So I am hoping that first thing in the morning without eating for almost 12 hours it may be lower ... :/

It probably is, 99% of the time it is nothing, but as I'm sure you can understand it's my job to advise you guys to be on the safe side and get checked. I would rather warn 99 people and be wrong every time than have 1 person suffer harm because I gave any false reassurance. :)

Atomic you have been such a great help to me I know you didn't mention it to freak me out. You are just giving me all of the facts so that I am not caught off guard and I appreciate that! I still haven't tested him yet first thing in the morning without supps. Planning on trying tomorrow. I am hoping it will be lower. When I tested him last it was a 5 hours after supps and his urine PH (even though I know that doesn't matter) was way high too. So I am hoping that because it all comes out of the same pipe that that had something to do with it being so high as well. I will keep everyone posted haha. Poor DH is now like a science project to me!

His urine pH doesn't matter for swaying but it ~may~ raise his semen pH, coming from the same pipe and all. :)
