Hi all. I'm a newbie :) I have 2 beautiful boys and am about to go back for a third but would really like a shot at a girl. Anyway my head is spinning from all the reading I have done and one huge factor I can see as to why I conceived boys twice is I don't eat much calcium and I eat a lot of chocolate and potato chips...opps!

So upping the calcium, as I don't like milk or yogurt what else can I do to increase my calcium intake? Has anyone successly swayed who also didn't have a high calcium diet? I'm going to try my hardest to sway so I will up my calcium somehow!!

Hi Mars,

Welcome, I too am a newbie and trying for a girl (I have just paid for the personalised GD service and am waiting on for plan to come through).

You could try taking calcium supplements. I have been taking Calcium and Magnesium for about 2 months now.

You've come to the right place.

I got 4 boys drinking tons of dairy and my 4th was a failed sway where I was taking tons of cal-mag-Vit. D THen I got my DD with my hsuband and I cutting way way back on dairy and not taking any vitamins. I also ate a lot of potatoes when I conceived her.

I do not believe the evidence supports calcium swaying pink and you can read my three part essay about that here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/trying-conceive-girl/610-calcium-conundrum-controversial-8.html (there is a link in this to the other two essays)

Above all else, DO NOT take the Vit. D that is recommended by some sites. The Cal-mag alone does not seem to sway strongly blue, but the Vit. D does seem to mess up otherwise good sways and sway blue.

Oh wow... Gosh there is some contradicting stuff out there... I'm so confused! So if I got some calcium and magnesium tablets they come with vit D as well... Surely that wouldn't be enough to make a difference.

With both boys I can now see I was following a very boy diet so this time I'm doing the opposite :)

Looking forward to learning more on here :)

Thanks Atomic,

Think I might ditch the calcium, but still take Magnesium (without Vitamin D). Do you think this will be ok?

I suffer from Headaches and Migraines and ever since taking the Magnesium I have noticed a huge reduction in the frequency and severity, so I'd like to keep taking these...

If you're using the mag for your headaches, by all means continue it!!

If you're using it for swaying, it's pointless to take it without the calcium. The only reason magnesium is included in sway supps is to (supposedly) help the calcium work better. Calcium is what is (supposedly) swaying pink, and so just taking magnesium would not even accomplish the purpose of the supps for swaying.

Please read the link I posted, it will help shed light on the whole thing. The whole idea that the cal-mag diet is based on is just ridiculous. Something that seems to sway gender in a primitive sea animal that reproduces in a totally different way than mammals.

I really, really advise against the Vit. D. It seems to be extremely important - we are getting 80-90% boys with people taking Vit. D.

Excellent. Thanks Atomic :)
