Hi Ladies!

Would love your advice :)
TTC a girl :)
Did an ovulation test last night and was positive, have not DTD since Friday (was protected).
So now hubby has abstatined for 4 days, he is 42 years old and we want to know what is the best option for us in regards to timing and sperm quality?

Should we DTD ovulation day or day after and should we use the 4 day abstained sperm?

Hubby has been taking Menevit, and we have been drinking cranberry if that helps at all?

Would appreciate any advice

Thanks Ladies :)

If you know exactly when you ovulate I would personally try for o+12 but I know atomic doesn't like that so maybe you could try an o+6 or something to increase your chances of getting preg. A 4 day abstain isn't long enough. You should dtd and have hubby release outside or by himself then dtd again a bit later for him to release inside. Just my thoughts!

Check out what AS says about hurry up FR - i think it is release one or two times then BD but do check it out. I ended up with a chemical after a post O BD (we only BD once so am sure it was that attempt.) Obviously it could have been something else that caused the chemical but as both Dh and I are old i think we needed tip top eggs and sperm to create a sticky one.

I don't think abstinence is recommended for older men. My dh is 43 and Atomic has us doing fr. :)

I already answered this via PM but just for anyone else who is reading this, I do not recommend abstinence for guys over 35.

I got my DD with one attempt and my husband releasing every 4-5 days. He was 42 at the time. That is what I would recommend for this situation.

Some people might want to include the hurry up FR option - have him release once, dump it, then DTD again as soon as possible. But not a lot of 42 year olds are going to be capable of doing this and thus I think it is best to just have an attempt in this scenario.
