View Full Version : All liquid diet? Would that help to simulate starving conditions?

I have stalled out on my weight loss. I've been dieting for a year now and can't seem to drop these last 5 lbs to get below my pre-kids weight.

Dh is going in for surgery next week and has been on a liquid diet and has dropped at TON of weight. Do you think a two week diet of protein diet shakes would sway girl? I know that there's a lot of vitamins and stuff in those shakes, but wouldnt the super low calories and rpid weight loss still sway girl? The shakes are sugar free super low carb and 100 calories each

I'm not sure I know we want to keep our protein low so maybe you could make your own liquid shakes like smoothies instead? That way you can control how much protein is in the shake. Even better how about trying some yogurt with aspartame (like yoplait) and mixing in some strawberries?

I also wanted to add to try and make sure you don't go below 1200 cals a day, that might make it harder for your body to lose weight. Good luck :)

It probably would sway pink but I certianly would not take the risk of fortified drinks that are high in protein. Firstly for the sake of my sway, and secondly for the sake of having a healthy pregnancy. I do not recommend it.

I would much rather see you TTC at your present weight. Don't worry about the last 5 lbs. I wasn't at my lowest adult weight when I TTC my DD. It's just something that might help a little bit. I would never recommend someone trading eating a highly fortified drink for those 5 lbs!!!!

No swayer should EVER drop below 1200 cals for any reason. That is the lowest caloric intake safe for pre-pregnancy.

Thank you for asking this question. What about doing a detox (eating food, but also having a "detox" drink each day) for 7 days PRIOR to attempt (like maybe once AF starts for the cycle you're going to attempt in?)

To be clear, I'm asking if this would be ok, NOT SUGGESTING it!

I don't know what is in the drink and so I can't say.

Nettle lead extract powder, milk thistle, astragalus root extract, psyllium, senna, buckthorn, cascara sagrada, slippery elm, chlorella, spirulina, kelp, inulin, rhubarb, aloe vera, carrot juice, elderberry, chokeberry, hibiscus, blackcurrent, blueberry, pumpkin, cherry fruit, lemon fruit, apple juice, purified water, natural flavors, citric acid, agave nectar, potassium sorbate, stevia extract.

I did a few juice fasts for several days in the past (not while swaying) and I can tell ya, it takes a toll on your body. I was moody, miserable, sick and weak. I would think the body would not be at all hospitable to conceiving at all while doing an all liquid diet like that. I'd say stick to LE for your sway and don't worry about what's on the scale, and please don't drop below 1200 calories a day. Good luck with your sway.

Also, looking at what's in the drink you posted, that stuff all looks pretty darn healthy and nutritious. Personally I would use a drink like that if swaying for blue. For my sway, most of the food I ate didn't have much nutrition in it.

No. some ingredients sway blue, others are not safe prepregnancy.

What that is there, is a very strong laxative. My personal opinion (take for whatever it's worth) is that is a scam. Makes a person have to go #2 like nobody's business so it seems like you're getting rid of toxins when really you're just pooping a lot ;)

psyllium, senna, cascara, aloe, slippery elm, inulin are all very powerful laxatives. 90% of the other stuff makes it taste good or is a preservative.

Your personal opinion is worth a lot and very appreciated! So, since my gullible self has one package (7 days worth) already and you just have this as a supplement - a poop supplement apparently :) - so you're still eating the full 1200-1400 calories of food too....would this be harmful to have in the one week leading up to AF? To kind of cleanse the slate, so to say?

(already knowing that I'm NOT pregnant this month...so just pre-AF, NOT 2ww)

If you're interested in doing a liquid/fast diet for health (not while pg or breastfeeding though!) I found that just good ol 100% juice will do the job at probably a fraction of the cost of what you paid for that stuff. You will feel miserable though and have 0 energy for a few days.

Whoops sorry I definitely worded that wrong. Thanks for the correction :)

Yes as long as you are 110% sure you are not pregnant. I also want to be doubly and triply sure you are getting adequate sodium and potassium intake before you go that route, because if you ahve been following an LE or IG diet and have been limiting sodium and potassium, diarrhea may send your electrolytes seriously out of whack badly and could make you very ill.

I'm not totally sure you can be getting enough sodium and potassium while eating 1200-1400 cals, so I would lay in a supply of Gatorade or similar drink and use that liberally if you go this route.

A couple of the ingredients may sway slightly blue but I think it would be ok leading into AF.
