I have type I diabetes and an 18 month old daughter. Often times I wake up with "low" blood sugar (in the 50's or 60's) and because of my great control I have low blood sugars during the day at times. Do you reckon this could sway girl? Many people with diabetes feel off when they are in the 60's and they treat the low blood sugar but I feel fine...my doc says if I wake up that low and feel fine then I don't need to treat it. Just wondering if this could help my sway for a girl. I've also often wondered if people that aren't having lots of lows but tend to high normals or moderately high readings sway boy. With really uncontrolled diabetes you can get to a point where you start losing weight because the body can't get the glucose from the blood so it starts breaking down fat...I've often wondered if this scenario sways girl.

Insulin dependent diabetics tend to have more daughters than the general population anyway. PLEASE do not play around with your blood sugar level. It is highly doubtful that it is the number of your blood glucose level that sways anwyay. It is what your body then does to raise blood sugar - burning stores to provide energy for your body. Your body does not react like others' do and you MUST NOT do the same sway tactics. you need to do and eat what is right for you. You can DIE from having too low a blood sugar and I beg you not to play around with keeping your blood sugar low.

I know you mean well but believe me when I say I wouldn't compromise my health for something like gender swaying. It was more a question out of curiosity. As in, this is how it is for me, what do you think would happen. Like I said, waking up in the 60's can be considered low for someone with diabetes but is not necessarily low for the general population which is why my doctor is not concerned as long as I feel ok. I don't keep it low on purpose, it is just how my body reacts to the early morning hormonal changes that occur. Because I am in such tight control lows are sometimes inevitable but fortunately I have yet to have a problem with sever lows or highs.
I had a feeling that type I diabetics tend to have more girls based on anecdotal evidence (it seems most of the moms with diabetes I know end up with girls) so thank you for confirming that.

I''m sure you wouldn't, but there are tons of other people who read these threads and I have to give advice based on the absolute worst case scenario I can envision.
