I decided this morning I best try on my swimming costume as we are going on holiday in 2 weeks. Its a normal costume but I had it after I had DS1 so is a couple of sizes bigger than I was when I fell pregnant this time, so was hoping there'd be a bit of extra room. It just about fits.
I then decided as I am lacking in summer clothing and refusing to buy more, to try on a pair of slightly bigger shorts that had missed my clear out. I couldn't get them up my thighs! So much for my bump feeling small, its cos I'm carrying all the extra weight in my thighs and butt! So different from my others LOL

I haven't even dared try on a swim suit this summer! I know I have a maternity one somewhere around my house, but I don't want to have to look at myself in it. I seem to be carrying a lot of extra weight in my hips and sides this time around and I absolutely hate it! One thing I do like are these flowy summer dresses. I bought a few and they fit well, plus I feel pretty in them. Maybe you could find a cheap dress or two!

I've got a couple of dresses, but its more things for when I want a t-shirt and something on the bottom. I have 1 pair of maternity leggings, 1 pair of shorts, I had a pair of 3/4 length combats, squatted down next to DS3 the other day and they ripped! I ripped maternity clothes! But I can really feel that I have 'love handles' and am conscious of them. I'm not used to it.

Lol, for the combats Mob's:bigsmile: I've been lucky that my normal clothes double as maternity clothes lol, low waist stretch jeans and DH's T-shirts:agree: We need some bump pics for this new 3rd Tri thread!!!! I will get onto it tomorrow, promise:)

My wardrobe is very limited as well but I really don't want to spend money on clothes at the moment. I'd rather wait until baby is born and then buy some nice spring clothes once I loose a bit of weight.

Time seems to be flying at the moment as well, our babies will start arriving before we know it!

I'm planning on doing a bump pic on thursday as I'll be 30 weeks then so I'll make sure I post it on here.
Clothes wise I wish I'd gone and got nice stuff with DS1 rather than worn jogging bottoms and DHs tops LOL Because I'd have felt I got my moneys worth out of them now. With number 5 still up for debate (and sadly looking less likely, then every now and the DH gives me a little hope) I feel its a bit of a waste.
I can't believe we are already in 3rd tri and I'm almost 30 weeks! It will be over before we know it.

Baby Brain, yesterday I went to get some wipes for DS2s hands, came back with my purse and almost gave him some money! Then just stopped myself washing my hair with a handful of shower gel last night!

How is everyone doing? I haven't been over here in ages. I went home to visit my family for about 6 weeks. my GD is getting better, I still have my days though. Like right now my best friend who is pregnant with their first just found out today that they are having a girl. It stings for sure.

I have taken a pic, just need to up load it LOL
I have to admit I've had the odd little pang recently thinking about not having a girl. I'm wondering if I was holding out some sort of hope that because I was ok with the idea of the next one being a boy as well, that I'd end up with a girl just because I was so relaxed and unbothered by it. Now the chance of there even being baby number 5 seems to be getting slimmer, its becoming more real that there wont ever be a daughter.

Ok maybe not, since taking the photo a couple of hours ago and actually connecting the phone to the laptop my phone has decided my SD card is damanged and needs reformatting and I will lose all data. Bit sad as I had some nice pics of the boys on there that are now lost, but luckily I uploaded most of them to the laptop a few weeks back.

Thanks, its actually so old I can't remember where I bought it from. I don't often wear dresses, but not having much choice since ripping one pair of maternity bottoms, its left me with some maternity shorts that are too tight going over my bum and a pair of maternity leggings.

I bought a swim suit from Sears at the beginning of the summer that I love. I've gotten a lot of use out of it too, thankfully. I did go a few weeks back and bought a few things, begrudgingly. I didn't really want to buy anymore but I think they are so much more comfortable. I won't buy anymore though!

August 12th, 2013, 02:40 PM
Well, I did it!!! I couldn't wait any longer and I convinced DH to let me put the baby's car seat in the car. 8-9 weeks before my EDD isn't toooooo early, right?? I seriously can't stop looking at it.

motherofboys
August 12th, 2013, 04:17 PM
Aw bless you. Our car seat isn't one that fits in (isofix?) you just use the seat belt so we haven't got to actually put it in the car before had, obviously try it but not actually fit it in.
I go on holiday on Saturday for a week so wont be around much, and when we get back and DH puts the cases back in the loft I'm going to make him get the baby clothes down!! I'm so excited to sort through them and wash them and get them all ready, and then get a move on to buy the other few bits I need. I still have nothing for my home birth box or my 'just in case' hospital bag LOL

August 12th, 2013, 04:38 PM
I need to get all the baby's clothes washed and pack our bags. DS1 and DS2 start school on Thursday, so I'll get all that stuff done once they're in school and away during the days. We have not even begun to get the nursery ready!!! I'll get it all done though.

Hi peb, hope you are well too.

I just noticed i'm the only one in this group that is team green. and it's seriously doing my head in. Only ten more weeks until we know for sure though I guess.

My nursery is all finished and most things are ready except for washing everything which i'll do when I finish work in 3.5 weeks. It's all very "white" though, will wait to add some colour once we know gender.

I brought an electric breast pump today, i'm determined this little one will take a bottle. My other 2 were b/f or nothing and it was very tiring at times esp as they got older. This time I'm hoping to go back to work 1 day a week at 6 months so will have to make sure I introduce a bottle every few days from fairly early on.

Still need to buy a pram as well. I'm thinking about the mountain buggy cosmopolitan, it's pretty new out here though so haven't heard any reviews. Anyone here heard good or bad about it?

Pangea
August 13th, 2013, 06:17 AM
I haven't posted in ages either, hope everyone is well.

Time is starting to go by really slowly, I can't believe I have another 8 and a half weeks to go. I'm really huge, any time I go out people make comments about how I must be due any day, and then I have to tell them that I have another 2 months left.
I feel too tired to take the kids out to do stuff, but then feel really bad because they are so bored. I can't wait until school starts. DS1 is starting primary school in 2 weeks, and DS2 is starting preschool in 3 weeks.

I have a massive long to do list, I haven't organised anything yet. Need to go through the baby clothes and pack my hospital bag, there are loads of things I need to buy and I have so many things I need to do around the house before the baby arrives.

Ruby my two were the same, wouldn't take a bottle for me. They did initially at 6 weeks, but because I didn't keep it up they stopped. I should probably try to pump regularly this time to avoid it happening again but I really really don't like pumping. I only have a little manual pump though, maybe it would be easier with an electric one.

ELP
August 13th, 2013, 11:15 AM
Ladies with one of mine I introduced a bottle of expressed milk at about 6 weeks and LO preferred the flow from the bottle and wouldnt take from the boob anymore:( So she was completely weaned at 12 weeks to my devastation as I just couldnt pump enough and had to switch to formula. They usually stay on for a year or so, little Daves still on there:) I'll have to sort that out soon as I dont fancy tandem feeding!

ELP
August 13th, 2013, 11:16 AM
Mum23, I'll have a quick nosey in there next time I'm in town, thanks!!

motherofboys
August 13th, 2013, 01:57 PM
I think thats what made me have second thoughts about breastfeeding with this one, I want to do it to begin with, but my eldest 2 didn't last very long, where as DS3 went for almost 3 years (stopped the month before he was 3 and it took a weekend away from him and telling him it was all gone or he'd probably still be on there now) I had tried him with a bottle but he just wasn't having it.
But I'm going to get some bottles and after the first few weeks make sure he gets a bottle or two a day, the others are desperate to feed him.
If I can carry on to a year along side the bottle then wean him that will be great, but if it doesn't work out and he ends up on formula I'm not going to feel bad over it. II didn't feel bad over my others, its just now I know that I can do it I'd feel awful for making the decision not to. Originally when we were first TTC I was all for tandem feeding, but then I just assumed I'd have been pregnant before his first birthday, rather than his 3rd LOL

Anyway I'd trying to save clothes in case I ca't get stuff washed and dried in time for packing it for the holiday now, which means I've worn PJs all day yesterday and today (I've changed but they are PJs none the less LOL)

ELP - I was hoping if I just offer the bottle once every 2-3 days baby will still know what to do but won't prefer it to the breast. Time will tell I suppose but if baby starts to prefer the bottle i'll stop offering all together because i'm hoping to b/f for at least 18 months.

I have low lying placenta too!!!

DS1 and DS2 are in school! I actually cried myself to sleep over DS2 starting kindergarten. I was feeling very anxious about him being away from me. It was even about him not being ready, it was me that wasn't ready! I'm counting down the minutes until I pick them up this afternoon.

motherofboys
August 15th, 2013, 11:44 AM
Great new peb.
Katie I hope your DS2 enjoyed his first day.
My placenta has moved (yay) but he is now breech! I know he still has a few weeks to move and DS1 was breech until 36 weeks. I kind of had a feeling he was breech from his kicks, almost all of which are aimed at my hip. He was either breech or boxing with my hip LOL
His estimated to weigh around 3lb 13oz atm and looks like he will be tall and thin, which isn't unusual in our family LOL
Didn't get any pics, we didn't see his face at all and the clearest part of him on the scan was his willy LOL
When we were in the waiting room DH said "imagine having 6 boys" I was like "huh?" and he said "well after this one you'll want another one and when thats a boy you'll say that the next one MUST be a girl and then when thats a boy too I'll have to draw the line and say no more" Then the guy doing the scan said "yes he's a boy theres his willy, what do you have at home already?" and I said all boys and he said "In my family we have 3 boys then the 4th was a girl, you will have to have another because we love our sister" LOL

motherofboys
August 15th, 2013, 02:03 PM
Thanks I'll have a look. I'm not too worried atm as theres still a good few weeks to turn and DS1 turned at 36 weeks. I think he just likes to wait till the last minute to do things, every scan I have they have trouble measuring something due to his position, and just as I'm about to go for a walk around he shifts. This time it was his abdomen LOL
Does anyone know how much they gain per week? I heard right at the end its 1/2lb per week but wasn't sure how many weeks thats from. If his gaining that atm then I worked out he'll be around the same size as the others depending when he arrives.

I failed my 1 hour, and I just took the 3 hour yesterday. I don't know the results yet. I only missed the 1 hour by 4 points and they said that wasn't that bad. So hopefully my 3 hour will come back clear. If not, we might need to help each other out. I have never dealt with this in my other pregnancies.

Hi girls. Took a break for a while and now peeking back in to say hello. I've been doing great w the GD up until recently. We haven't told our boys (4.5 and just turned 3) that we know the gender. All was good until recently they have begun referring to him as "she" and "her" amd saying they hope its a girl. Breaks my heart.

We are still undecided on our name. Thought we were pretty sure on Mason but in the last few days I have kind if fallen in love with Elliott. Madden is still in my mind, too. Any opinions? ;)

Hope you are all well! I'm uncomfortable as all get out and am just ready for oct already!

I Love Elliot as well. It was on my short list.
I do know a girl Elliot, her name is spelt Eliott. She is one of 4 girls, with sisters Mae, Taylor (which can be either sex) and Alix. But I think Elliot is very firmly in peoples minds as a boys name.

I've been away for the week so just back today. I did think at one point during the holiday that the baby had turned. Won't know until the 5th of Sept, by which time he'll probably have moved again his such a wriggler. But All the rapid, strong kicks I was getting in my hips seem to now be concentrated on my ribs for the time being.

Thinking I better get a move on. I still need all the stuff to make up my home birth box, plus a hospital bag just in case. I need DH to get the baby clothes down so I can sort and wash them. I need to work out what else I need to buy and actually buy it.

I just ordered a new diaper bag! I found a place on Etsy that makes super cute bags, and I custom ordered one. It should be here in the next week or so. I'm very excited about it.

Today I'm washing all of baby's clothes. I pulled all the tags off and got everything sorted out in different laundry baskets. I have five loads of laundry to do!!! And that's just the new stuff we've bought over time! I still have to go through all the old baby clothes I have. I think it's safe to say that my child has too much crap and he's not even here yet.

Fortunately, I have most of the new baby prep done. I do however have both boys birthday parties to throw together and appts. for ds1 starting pre-school,visits to the birth center, and swim classes starting. Also my brother and his developmently delayed daughter have moved in with us, causing whole new layers of stress.
Sorry to hear that some have tested positive for diabetes. I failed my 1 hr and was convinced I would fail 3 hr, but fortunately passed. It just seems wrong to tell a pregnant woman to go on a diet.
Pangea- I think I recall you saying you weren't into pink, so I am wondering how your little girls wardrobe is turning out. I have never been a pink gal myself, but it looks like my little girl will be. I think dh and myself suprised ourselves by some of the clothing we have picked out. I guess we do the same thing in a different way with our boys though, as we think they look adorable in little polos (dh would never wear a polo).

My friend just got a bfp with her 4th. She has 3 girls already. She'd like a boy, her sister is having a boy and its the first grandson in the family.
Its making me a little sad, like if she does get a boy, why did she get what she wanted and I didn't and if she gets another girl then she got a girl and I didn't LOL
So I just ordered the baby some more clothes LMAO It helped a little but of course while scrolling down the page there were girls stuff in there too, or unisex stuff that looks really girly, and I kept wishing I could buy that.
I know I will be ok later, I just wish I could keep going till I got a girl. But the boys are really playing up atm so that is not going to sway DHs decision on whether or not we can have another.

I ordered baby some clothes last night too and peeked at the girls below and I felt the sane way! Gosh darn the clothes are so cute. I want desperately to be done with three as this pregnancy has been SO DIFFICULT on my body and energy level, but I just have to have a girl. My dad told my mom he would pay for me to go high tech, but I wonder if he will really follow through when the time comes. I hate being pregnant this time around....I'm miserable! M body is so sore and I have zero energy to play with my boys. Feel guilty. I know I just need to be thankful though !!!

DH returned home last night from a weekend away and I was so excited to see if the name Elliot had grown on him but he said he doesnot like it. Why?!? Ugh. I'm not going to give up! I told him it is either Elliot or Madden and that I prefer Ellliot. We shall see if he comes around. Fingers crossed!

I forgot to mention that there was a birth announcement two weeks ago in my local paper for a baby boy named Madden! I love Elliot and it was on our list for ds2 until my brother claimed it (it is his middle name so he has dibs).

That's crazy! What state do you live in? I've never heard of another Madden but font doubt there are a lot floating around out there! They are two totally different names....my two older sons both have names that end in "on" and "en" so my husband thinks we should keep with that....hence Mason & Madden options. But I can't help but think breaking that would be refreshing and Elliot just is sounding right to me. But obviously I can't go with something my husband doesn't love...oh what to do!

I've finally started buying things for the nursery (which ds2 currently still occupies, for now) so I'm excited to start putting it together. :)

I was looking for (english) football team sleepsuits/all in ones, and thought I was pretty safe because even if you had a girl and wanted to dress them in football stuff it would be the same suits for girls or boys. But no in with all the little vests and sleepers there were cute girl outfits with the team on them and girls little swim suits with the team colours and team on the front.
This pregnancy was much harder at the beginning but now its going so smoothly that another pregnancy doesn't seem to be too much of an issue, its the knowing that even if I did a 'perfect' sway I could still get a boy and then that would really be it. And thats IF I can convince DH to go for one more.
I thought I was over it and that I had come to the conclusion that a girl wasn't what was missing from my life or my family but now I feel I'm back where I started. And my friend fell pregnant first month of trying as well, when it took me 2 and a half years this time so I feel both jealous but also guilty that I should just be grateful to be having him at all.
I'm excited to get all my boys stuff out the loft for sorting and washing, I love the new clothes that I've bought for him. I'm excited to have him and know I will love him. But I can't help think if he had just been a girl I wouldn't have to make this decision. When it comes down to it I still want to buy all those girly clothes and the pink blankets. Someone posted on facebook the other day, having a girl after 2 boys, asking when her little girl wears a dress, do the tights go over or under the vest. I want that to be my biggest worry. Not whether or not I could go through it all again, the TTC, the sickness, the tiredness, the anxiousness and hope, to then be told boy again and have to deal with the disappointment and work through it to be 'ok' with it again, and have the fact that that really will be my last shot hanging over my head.

Motherofboys I feel the same, do I try again or not!! Like my chances are slim, I think we are designed to make beautiful boys!
My mum told me today that a friend asked how I was doing. Mum said she's fine, 6 weeks to go, the usual chat. The person then said, God help her!! meaning I was desperate for a girl. I have never said to anyone I would love a girl, not even my family!! People piss me off!! I am gonna have to go into hiding when my wee man is born :(

I wish I knew what it was a if it could be changed you know. I've read so much stuff on the subject, is it DH, is it me, is it both of us together? Swaying would be really hard for me, and I don't know if DH would want to do it. It would feel worth it if I got a girl I know, but if it was another boy it would make it so much harder.
I wanted another baby anyway, but DH and I can't even agree on whether there will be another and if there is when it will be. I feel bad for worrying about it now, I mean I haven't even popped this one out yet.
Some days I feel confident that its best to stop rather than just keep going and going. Other days I feel like I have to try one more time, but will there always be a one more time?
I was feeling fine about 4 boys and even thinking I was fine about the idea of 5 boys and telling people if we did have another I would want a boy. Now I have completely relapsed.
I am feeling a bit better about it today, I know I don't have to make a decision yet.

Its so hard this GD business. I'm mostly doing okay but then whenever I see families with little girls or a mix, I feel really sad. I love the idea of two little boys and I can't wait to meet my little man. But I just know I will never ever stop wanting a pinkie. I'm 90% sure that if all goes well with this delivery, then we'll go high tech in 2015. We're already saving and although I'm terrified that its a huge amount of money and there are no guarantees, I just know I have to try or I will always feel like I missed out on something amazing. My DH really wants a little girl too so at least we're on the same page. Hope everyone is keeping well. Not long now x

A smallish city in New York state.
I went into labor with ds2 without deciding on a name beforehand- we had 2 possibles. Once he was born he looked more like one over the other and dh agreed. You could tell dh that you will decide when you see him, what name best suits him, and after watching you go through labor he might just go along with Elliot  or you might find that Madden really does fit him.

My friends little boy is called Isaac, she loved it all through pregnancy but her DH wasn't too keen. They chose another name together but she still really felt like he was an Isaac. Then after he was born and the midwife asked her "does he have a name" she thought "sod it, I just carried him around for 9 months, I pushed him out of my body I'll call him what I want" and replied Isaac! Her DH didn't disagree and now his 4 and he agrees that his totally an Isaac and the other name wasn't right for him LOL

Right so because its getting closer now and its always fun to guess. Do you have an feelings about when your little one is going to turn up, or how big they will be or anything.
There are a few patterns I've been interested to see if this little man follows. I've had all 3 of the others on weekends, and I've had late, early, late, so was thinking it would be interesting to see if he followed the pattern and arrived early and on a weekend. If he did DS2s birthday is the sunday before my due date, so he could share a birthday. DS2 is the most excited and would love the baby to come for his birthday. For that very reason I bet he doesn't LOL

I just have this feeling that from the way his kept us waiting at scans to get measurements and been difficult about getting in the right position so they could see parts of him, that he is trying to make his presence felt and show how different he is already. My pregnancy has been so different too. I feel like I'm going to end up going way over, and will have to have him in the hospital because he will either still be breech or I'll have to be induced, and just to be different from the others he'll be huge as well LOL

Okay, sooo... I went and saw the specialist for my gestational diabetes today. They were quite busy and I ended up being there for FOUR HOURS!!!!! First they took me back for an ultrasound (which was a nice surprise) and I learned Duncan is measuring over 5 1/2 pounds. Big boy! Oh, and he's definitely a boy. They got a VERY clear shot of his boy parts. It's the first time I've seen them clearly this whole pregnancy. I saw the doctor after that. We talked about diet and some other things. I learned that this visit was not a one time thing. I'll be going back for ultrasounds and consultations EVERY WEEK!!! I also have to do an NST every week with my regular OB. So for the rest of the pregnancy I'll do an NST and a check-up with my regular OB on Mondays, and I'll do an ultrasound and check-up with the specialist on Thursdays. Holy cow! And I will for sure be induced early, just don't know when yet.

I'm guessing 14th October, 7lbs 8oz.

For some reason I've had the 5th of October in my head for ages, but I think that's just my wishful thinking. I went 5 days over on DS1, 4 days over on DS2, so I'm guessing 3 days over on this one.
I have no idea what size the baby is, I'm measuring average, I haven't had any scans recently. My boys were 7lbs 10oz and 7lbs 15oz, so I'm guessing this baby will be 7lbs something.

motherofboys
August 30th, 2013, 12:53 PM
If he comes when DS2 wants, 13th of October (thats his 6th birthday) and around the 8lb mark.
If I go by my feeling of him liking to make me wait, October 30th and 9.5-10lb (weight guesses based on his estimate weight at previous scan and other boys weights at the gestation they were born LOL)

I now need to buy 3 things. Some cheap big knickers that can be chucked if need be. A special teddy of his own for the baby. Some water proof sheeting/shower curtain, from the £1 shop will do, to be put down for the home birth. Everything else has arrived, unless I see some more cute clothes or discover I need to top up some clothes when DH gets them down. He told me today his going to wait till the others are back at school which wont be till the 5th. I'm itching to get started on them!

In the weekly updates thing I get, last week (week 32 for me) it said over 90% of babies born at that gestation survived. 35 weeks is just short of what they class as term, so I think other than a little trouble breathing (which he may not even have that) he'd be ok.

First I want to say sorry to hear you are going through this :bighug:. I have known a few people who had preemies (if you were to meet their kids today you would never know as they are healthy and happy) and researched quite a bit this time (because of my cyst it increases odds). At 35 weeks babies have all their organs formed and everything is maturing at this point. The one thing that tends to be common but not always necessary would be cpap (breathing tube) and at this point, the baby would probably not need it for long. With the medicine and bed rest it really sounds like your dr knows what they're doing and hopefully given you more peace of mind.

katie- I hope you are getting some help with the boys during your appts. I can't imagine trying figure all that out twice a week. At least you get to see Duncan a bunch!
I finished my birthplan! With #2 we went a little more spare on the plan figuring we knew our docs and were giving birth in the natural birth center. Problem was my drs hired a new ob who I was "lucky" enough to get on her first day and who proceeded to try to do everything NOT natural (broke my water and told me she was doing it in the middle of- tried giving me pitocin at 9cm). So this time my plan is a little more specific. The one thing I loved that I read in hypnobirthing was no reference to the pain scale. I always thought that seemed pointless as everyone's tolerance is different (and feel like a kid with the accompanying smiley face/grimace faces).

I've mostly been worried about how DS3 will be. And slightly about DS1 feeling more pushed out, because being older he can do a lot more things for himself. DS2 is just majorly excited.
DS3 is a huge Mummys boy and used to push others away from me. His much better now but still at times will say "no, he's my Mummy" (he uses he for both genders lol) He also at times will only allow me to help him do things, or to get things for him.
I was telling him this morning that next month I won't be able to just stop feeding the baby, or just stop changing his nappy and he is going to HAVE to let other people do things for him so he should get used to it now. DS2 said he wanted to help with the baby and I said he can but he wouldn't want to do pooey nappies. He said he would! So I tried to explain how its not as simple as when he goes and its one solid poo and a quick wipe and how messy it can get and ended up with them all giggling like lunatics at a story of how DS1 had filled his nappy with so much force I'd had to change his whole outfit, twice, in half an hour! Boys huh?!
But recently DS3 has started to just tell people off when touching my belly, and saying that the baby is "his baby" so I'm hoping this is a good sign, rather than just a baby who has come along and stolen his Mummy, he'll be HIS baby, for him to help love and look after.

My parents are both retired and only live a couple miles away. They're always ready and willing to help! Thankfully, the two big boys are in school now so I only have to run DS3 over to them for my appointments. I'm trying to think of these appointments as a great way to pass the time. I have plans with friends and a visit from my Mum, the bigger two have their clubs, with DS1 being out 3 evenings a week and saturday mornings and DS2 being with him for 2 of those evenings and the morning (he will be doing all 3 evenings after his birthday in October too) Plus the general day to day stuff of being a Mum, and getting everything set up for baby now I have it all.
Suddenly not sure if 6 weeks is enough to squeeze it all into. The house is suffering from pregnant lady and an over dose of boy, what with the summer holidays so needs a good cleaning through as well.

Today I seem to have a cold starting, have woken up with pain in my groin (both sides) with DS3 I had it on one side every day for the last 4 weeks so hoping this isn't my fate till mid-october now! Also my pelvis at the back is playing up. It always does in pregnancy after I dislocated it during a dance lesson years ago. I couldn't walk down stairs after putting DS3 to bed. Its so quiet where we live now, but when I was growing up there used to always be these big yellow boards by the entrance of the park our house backed onto in London asking if anyone had seen or heard anything on such and such a date due to people being attacked. Sadly, it seemed normal then, now it would scare me.
I had an impromptu shopping trip today. My SIL knocked to say she and my niece were going shopping and did I want to come so had a girly day. It was nice to do something with them before little man makes his arrival.

And we actually live in a really good neighborhood, slightly countryish, but there happens to be one house that gets rented out as apartments and that is of course where this happened. Also the news said the 2 guys knew each other so I guess it could happen anywhere. Just glad the guy is behind bars and the boys didn't see anything.
Nice to have a girly day out. I am trying to fit in a haircut before lo arrives.

Strawberry that sounds scary:( Glad the boys slept through it all xx
WE are all getting so close lol!! I can't stop thinking it!! My sis is due a Sep baby and has 18 days left!!!!! So I'll be counting down for her as well and my new nephew to be
I'm both dreading and looking forward to the possibility of works starting here. I am used to mess, noise and chaos but the uncertaintity of something out of your control happening ie the roof caving in lol, is there isnt it:) We will only be doing stage 1 which will be the frame and outside roof work, then hopefully we can gather some more money up to be able to get the electrician and plumber in asap, but what with flamin xmas on the cards aswell and all the junk that goes with it its all gonna take some serious organsing! Luckily my pregnancy brain should at least be out the way for a while so it may do me good to have something other than more breeding to concern myself with:oops:

Ok question,
I've seen people talk about 'lightening crotch' the sharp sudden pains that feel like they are in your crotch. I don't remember from DS1 (who was breech till 36 weeks) and DS2 (who wasn't) but I definitely had it a lot earlier with DS3 and he wasn't breech. I've felt the last few days like my bump is lower and much more pressure down low and now I'm experiencing this 'lightening crotch' feeling so strong it can take my breath away.
Is it wishful thinking to think that this could be a sign that his turned and that his head is pushing down, possibly starting to engage and thats whats causing this?

Strawberry-that's so weird!!! A boy? I have girl worries w that one so two boys within, what, like a month, would be great! We are bi-polar when it comes to names...even more so lately than ever...and just can't seem to decide. It has me laying awake anxious at night! My hospital stay w DS2 was so stressful because we were so preoccupied w baking him...can't go through that again! DH'scurrent top choice is CHASE...with Camden being his second fave. As for me, I don't know anymore. I still like Elliot a lot, Madden, and Chase & Camden are nice, too. Help!!!

Mother - I get that lightening crotch and got it with my other pregnancies as well. Stops me right in my tracks sometimes!!

We moved DS2 into a shared room w DS1 and it is a nightmare. Constant party in there for them making bedtime & nap time miserable!!! Any experience or words of advice for me?

Lld- Sorry jumping in from another board, but saw the post about the 2 boys in the same room. We currently have our 2 youngest boys sharing a room ages 4 and 1. We put the youngest to bed an hour before the older one goes to bed. That seems to help a lot! That way the older one knows that he will be in trouble if he wakes up the younger brother. It works out well. Good luck!

We used to have all 3 boys in together. When we first moved DS2 in with DS1, and then again when we first moved DS3 in with them, they found it a real novelty and exciting and funny. They did settle down in the end.
But DS2 and DS3 do like an audience, so they could spark each other off still and make it difficult. We have recently moved DS2 out, so he (for now) has his own room and will eventually share with the baby, and DS1 and DS3 are in together. I know that may sound weird rather than having the biggest 2 together and then the smaller 2 together, but DS3s bed is the lower bunk of DS1, and DS2 is the top bunk so it seemed unfair to make him move to the bottom bunk and also DS1 and 3 wont fight or wind each other up as much as any other combination we could have atm and DS2 will be best for sharing with the baby.
I find that making them feel the bigger one can make a lot of difference, so like another poster suggested, one going to be earlier than the other can make the older one feel very grown up and go to bed nicely.

Thanks for your input girls. My boys are just turned 3 and almost five. This is a nightmare! Nap time was a huge struggle today. I'm going to try putting the little one down first, then older and see if that works. As far as bedtime, I'd love to do that but I wonder if Ds2 would feel sad to have to go earlier? Probably worth a try since many do it. I appreciate the advice!

Name opinions anyone? Two of my biggest stressors right now, lol...names & bedtime!

Lld-Yes, the Madden was another boy  . I still like that and Elliot best, Chase is nice but can depend on how it goes with your last name, and I know a girl Camden and it is not my style. I have given up on narrowing down names. We have six and will decide when we see her.
Mob- My dh's co-worker gave us boxes of clothes this past week, and I called my mom to tell her about the cute Christmas outfits in there.
Elp- It will be so satisfying when everything is done. We need to get new floors and windows in the new babe's room, but are waiting until after my bro and niece move out. He is currently in that room and rarely changes her diaper, so she ends up leaking all over the rug and has only cleaned that up once . Do you know how long you need to leave a kid in a diaper before it explodes and the gel beads leak out? Yeah, and he thought that was funny.
I am 36 weeks today! I have all my appts. scheduled for the next 5 weeks (in case I go over). My guess is that I'll only need 3 of them. Also started the red raspberry/3rd trimester tea. Feeling like every day is flying by now.

They days really do seem to be moving so quickly now. Your exactly a week ahead of me strawberry, I'm 35 weeks today. I managed to do half the deep clean I want to do on the front room and dining room. It looks ok but there is clutter still and I feel like I want to get all the DVDs down and dust the cases and organize them all. I very much doubt the midwife would notice if I have dusty DVD cases on my shelves when she does my home visit in a couple of weeks or is delivering my baby but I feel like I need to do it.

Good to know thanks ELP.
I need to clear out the cupboard under the stairs as thats where I keep my Christmas stash. I've already got a few bits in there but have some more bits coming so I need to make space.
Washing is already an issue, its been so wet since they went back to school I'm already using the airers and it takes days for stuff to dry on the airers, we don't have central heating here and the storage heaters don't go on until absolutely necessary, so doesn't help with drying. And the school uniform takes up so much of it.
And yes the cleaning will suffer for a while after our babies start arriving so doing all those extra bits now will help. I'm lucky that DH does know how to use the washing machine and the hoover and wash up properly. He is a big help.
We were discussing this morning how much time he will take off work. His self employed and I've been saving all year so should be ok for him to take a week or two off. But my SIL lives 2 doors away, doesn't drive, they work at the same place and she makes a big fuss when ever he has to take the day off. He hates being relied on but also feels its his duty to take her.

Anyone had to take their rings off yet? Mine are just starting to feel a bit tight when I try to take them off, I don't want them to get stuck but trying to hold on as long as I can. I usually have to take them off about 35/36 weeks. Then my hand feels naked.

Laundry! Dont even go there! It just seems flamin endless around here:bigsmile: When I see the bottom of the basket, I go upstairs and see why! and end up with about 2 bin liners full on my return downward journey lol. I have a tumble dryer but rarely use it as it knocks out the power downstairs! too much power being run at one time. So I have to make sure to not run the washing machine at the same time, and as I have washing days where I go through the lot, its awkward to not want to put it straight into the dryer or to put the next wash on when I unload the last lot itms?? So again airers and luckily radiators and windows do the job:agree:

I'm not having any problems with rings this end but I have only gained 2lb so far:agree: This is normal for me though, I seem to grow baby out of the fat stores in my butt!! But! When evryone has had baby and is losing their baby weight, thats when I seem to start gaining!? I think its because I have my stomach back and am a bit depressed with my newly empty belly:( so I tend to binge a bit lol:oops:

I think I must have just been over heated the other day as my fingers seem to have gone down again, but it is a reminder of how close I'm getting now. I've no idea what I put on. I don't weigh myself, and the weight from my first appointment in my notes was in kg I only know stones and lbs, they do weigh me at my scans but again kgs, I can never remember what it says and they don't seem to put it on the print out, just put my original weight :/
I know from weighing myself on my BILs scales right at the end of each pregnancy that I usually put on around 3 stone! But I am lucky that even though I tend to just eat whatever I fancy and a lot of it afterwards the weight does just come right off. Then again I like my food pretty much all the time. Its just the way I'm made, and likely not helping the boy situation LOL

Keep looking at all the baby stuff and getting excited.

I remember stocking up on Boots creams and such when I visited ages ago, but never realized they had toys and such. Of course we were childfree then, so no mommy radar to pick up on those things.

DH finally got into the loft, I got a little carried away and washed ALL the new born and 0-3 months clothes and now have them hanging all round the house to dry LMAO
I now feel he doesn't have enough LMAO
I have packed almost my whole hospital bag, just need another set of clothing for him when its all dry. Money for hospital car park. Spare tooth brush and tooth paste. Also will have to grab the camera on the way out if I do end up having to go to hospital.
I've done all of my home birth bag though so that's ready and hopefully what I will be using.
Sat for ages looking at the tiny little nappy I was putting in. All becoming so real now.
Also found DS2s little Christmas PJs he had from his first Christmas Eve. Those will definitely be going on DS4 this year (both October babies)

I have been such an emotional mess lately LOL On the way home from school on friday DS1 and DS2 were holding hands walking ahead of me. I can not remember the last time they held hands, or the last time they touched each other with out it being to hit the other one. So I pulled out my phone and snapped a picture of them, it made me feel all tearful watching them. Then I put it on facebook and FIL commented saying "brotherly love, it lasts a lifetime" his one of 3 boys, his own dad being one of 6 boys. It made me cry (just thinking about it now has my eyes filling up LOL) for some reason it meant so much more him saying it, coming from all boys and knowing this may be the last one and I'll have all boys. He probably didn't even realise either LOL

Anyone here that had a bleeding late in pregnancy? I got another one today and I am still bleeding a little bit. I am now 37 weeks and like 3 days so if he would be born it would be ok. But how do you know that it is not the placenta? Talked with my doctor on the phone and she told me to keep taking the same medicines as I took when I had my last bleeding a few weeks ago. Said if it doesnt stop to come to the hospital. I did walk a lot yesterday and today so maybe its that that caused the bleeding.

Kiara-glad you got into seeing the drs. , but frustrating when they can't give you an answer. With your previous bleeding I would guess that alot of walking could have been the reason(thinking that is why drs. will put someone on bedrest?). Try to take it easy (I know easier said than done).
Mob-My boys have been super sweet recently too and yes I have been a blubbering mess about it. I have been trying to get in as many cuddles now before the blur of newborn. I tend to get the baby blues bad and couple that with time for the new one, well I worry my boys will think what happened to mommy.
In 8 hrs I will be considered full term and able to give birth in the natural birth center! Didn't think I was going to make it the other night, so dh ran around getting some final touches done. The midwife said I have the cervix of someone who has given birth before:rofl: .She also said this one will be bigger than ds2 (7lbs) and now has me wondering how much bigger.

Yes It was stupid of me going out:( I had been at bedrest for like three weeks and when the dr said that everything had heal well i took it a Little bit too easy :( But the baby is ok and that is the important:) Yeah, its strange that the dr (not my regular dr) said that the baby will be here in a few days . He said because of the position of the baby , and some other things that I cant remember hihi.

wow 10 pounds is a lot. Does it hurt more to give birth to a bigger baby?

I remember with ds1 they measured him a good half pound smaller (was born next night) and heard that those measurements are often off, so hard to tell. I have gained the least amt. with this one, but they already think she is bigger than ds2.

Anyone have increased bowel movements. I have the past week or so sometimes I am going 5 times a day. And It is a painful tummy ache before I have to go. I asked my doctor about it and she said it was probably because the baby was pushing on my intestines and things just have to move out faster. It is just rather annoying.

I was supposed to have a midwife appointment this morning. She phoned me just as I was trying to get shoes and coats on everyone to go out to school and asked if she can combine my 36 week appointment with my home birth booking (even though I had previously been told they wouldn't do this and couldn't possibly book it before 37 weeks) so she is coming tomorrow afternoon to my house.
This is fine, but has messed up a few plans, and she could get here and discover he is still breech and I can't have a home birth anyway. I don't know why they couldn't just do the paper work at my appointment today, I've given birth in this same house twice already so its not like they can claim its not a suitable place for birthing.

Hey ladies! It's been a while....I've been really busy and just realized that I haven't logged on a for a bit. I am so excited to hear about everyone's babies arriving! It's so not long now!

Strawberry, I always go into labor within 2 days of losing my plug, which is why I'm on official obsessive toilet watching for it. I had my girls late (40.3 and 41) but it was 11 and 8 years ago, so no telling what will happen this time around. My midwife says it's almost like I'm a first time mom again, but very much hoping I have a shorter labor. I keep having lots of BH contractions, which I never had with my others until the week they were born, but I'm only 36.5 weeks now, so who knows. Lots of the vag pain too!

Hope everyone is doing well and taking it easy!!!

Meant to ask: what are things that helped you all get labor going? I am going to start doing something next week....because I'm attempting another VBAC, the hospital will make me have a c-section if I'm not beginning labor by 41w, which freaks me out because I don't want to do that at all. Obviously, the sex part I know about (and my DH is not a big fan right now because of how big I am and he worries he's hurting me and baby). What's this tea? And has anyone had success with the castor oil or whatever that is?

strawberrymom
September 19th, 2013, 04:11 PM
Red raspberry leaf tea helps to tone the uterus and make labor faster, but not to start labor. I have read most people who take caster oil just get diarrhea. Diet wise some people swear that pineapples, lemons, and dates have worked for them- never tried these myself so? , but can't hurt. Last time the thing I think finally worked for me was sitting on a bean bag(or most use exercise ball) legs spread out. Also excessive walking. The last 2 are encouraged during labor too, so I think it makes sense that they encourage gravity and starting labor. You might also ask your dr once full term to strip your membranes.

motherofboys
September 20th, 2013, 05:19 AM
Caster Oil is supposed to be VERY dangerous.
The tea as Strawberry says is more to soften/ripen the cervix and help with the speed of labour.
I've been hearing a lot about Evening Primrose Oil doing the same thing?
I've also hear Clary Sage Oil in the bath can help bring on labour (never tried it myself)
Sex as you say, lots of walking, a sweep from the midwife/doctor.
Pineapples but apparently its only fresh pineapples and you would have to eat several whole fresh pineapples. Not sure I could manage that LOL
Also spicy food is supposed to help.

I can't say how well any of these work. The only thing I've ever had is a sweep from the midwife, and also the day before labour I had done A LOT more walking than usual. But I don't think that would really work unless baby was ready to come anyway.

Good luck I hope you get your VBAC.

Katie, how exciting! You have an official date to meet your baby! I wonder if you will be first?
I can't wait to start seeing all the newborn pictures! To think this time next month I'll either have my baby or be over due is so exciting!

Well the midwife finally got to me. After cancelling yesterdays appointment, and saying she would be out between 2 and 2:30pm today, she phoned at 2:30 to say she was running late and just leaving the office and did I have to pick my others up and should she re-schedule. Luckily DH was on his way home from work at the time and was able to pick the others up.
Two of them turned up and they did not seem keen to be booking a home birth. Kept coming up with little issues like "will you be pushing the sofa back?" "erm no as that would block the doorway which I was told last time wasn't an option in case of an emergency" "Will you be moving the vivariums out of the room" "Do they look like they move? Can you not see the size of them?" (OK so I didn't say that bit but some things are bloody obvious aren't they?) "What is parking like here?" "Not great at night but the last two times I gave birth here the midwifes had no trouble finding somewhere to leave their car and one of those times I had given birth by 5:55am"
She also told me there will definitely be two midwifes present for the birth (funny that my last two births the 2nd midwife didn't make it) and that I should provide a hot water bottle so that when they felt it was getting near to the actual birth they could wrap babies clothes around it to warm them. If they bothered to ask about my previous deliveries they would know that there wasn't time for any of that. Last time the midwife didn't even get time to examine me, she was in the house 20 minutes going on about "its at this stage you wonder why you went back for more isn't it?" then sent me to pee on the stick to check for protein etc and I came waddling back saying I couldn't pee and his head was coming, she didn't have her gear out of the car or her gloves on or anything.

Sorry for the rant but I just really didn't get a good vibe from them, hopefully neither one of them is on duty when I do go into labour.
Still he is now head down thankfully and was 2/5s engaged. And as long as he arrives between Thursday and 29th of October I can have him at home LOL

I have to say that I know of nothing that actually starts labor apart from a good sweep, which for me has delivered a baby 3 days later on 3-4 occasions, would you consider DH maybe having a rough old rummage?? I think the pineapple one is that you have to eat the core which contains the bromeleine, I tried this 2 babies ago, ate a whole pineapple core and all! and only ended up giving myself orange squits during labor:oops: so I wouldn't recommend this one lol!

I have to say that I used to envy the countries with universal healthcare, but the more I read about people's experiences on here, I am glad that I have the choices that I do. Wish that there was a middle ground for everyone.

Most midwifes that I have encountered are great, the only issue being that as you see the one at your doctors surgery, and its a team of midwifes you kinda get who ever happens to be working there that day.

Ugh MOB, that is disheartening! Hopefully like someone said, you will go quick and easy and not have to deal with anything/anyone too much.

Thanks for the labor starting advice....I would be inclined to not care but I don't want to have the section because I'm too overdue. Not sure if they will strip membranes or not....they said no induction, meaning pitocin, etc, which I wouldn't want anyway, but I'll ask next appointment. For now, I'm come down with a yeast infection, which is of course not helping my comfort level AT ALL! I never get them, I bet it's from trying to start dtd and such. I got some good probiotics and trying to beat it naturally. I am curious if I should get the meds though, the cream you inject up, etc. Not sure if that is recommended when pg but will call midwives tomorrow and ask.

Anyone else feel like their body is really starting to gear up for labor? I don't really know how to explain how I feel. I don't think I'm in labor, but I do feel like my body is changing. I've been having Braxton Hicks since around 24 weeks, but the tightness and pain were always localized right in the front. Here recently I've started experiencing different contractions. These are painful in the front, but then the pain also shoots up through my butt and into my back (sorry if that's tmi). Last night I had a few of them and actually felt nauseated for a while. And in general I just don't quite feel right. I honestly don't think I'm going to go into labor on my own, but I have moments where it almost feels like the real deal.

I feel exactly the same way! My BH are getting stronger and closer together then go away. They have been different that they were a few weeks ago too. My last appt the doc said I was 1 cm and 50%, soft cervix, plus a -2. I know you can be like that for a while, but at least it means that my body is gearing up.

I know someone who just last week had her baby, she was asking for tips to start labour for the same reasons and she did get given a sweep. It probably varies between doctors and midwifes etc but it is a possibility.

Katie I feel so much more pressure lately, braxton hicks much more often and feel tighter, period pains, the pains are going into my back as well. They don't routinely check your cervix here so not sure what that it doing. But things are definitely feeling different. And I just feel weird at times, but I've had a cold for about 3 weeks now, I thought it was going last week but it just changed.

The pain would come in waves but was only afecting one side, soo strange?? It did eventually go like I say after about 4 days but I would never use it again!! Bread is the cause for me, its the super yeast they use which the body cant break down!

ELP, congrats to your sister also! I did take the regular cream for YI and all is ok now, but MAN, these vag pains and back pain from being huge are way worse than last kids! I feel your pain, I'm 37 myself and midwife said it's probably more painful because it's my 3rd baby. And yea, my ex-hub and his wife had a little girl, so he has 3 girls now (my girls are the other 2), which he hates because he only ever wanted boys. My girls love their little sis though, and she is super cute but a huge handful apparently so they are not having any more. His wife works and is very unmaternal, so that is it for them. He is very jealous that DH and I are having a son this time around....my girls say they can tell and he talks about it a lot. (:

Excited to hear about more births!!!!! Hope those who are sick start to feel better soon!

Everyone is counting down now it seems, DH was looking at the calender this morning telling me how he was going to put a mark on a day that he guesses baby will come.
DS1 was asking on the way to school how many days it is now. I was trying to explain that babies don't come on time so he mustn't bank on that date, it could be any time between now and the end of October.
Speaking of which, tomorrow it will finally be October! No more "when are you due?" "next month" LOL

September 30th, 2013, 11:19 AM
My ds1 keeps asking too,but he doesn't quite understand the concept of time yet, so if I say a week it could mean 2 days or a month as far as he is concerned. He is very excited to meet his baby sister and likes to give her a check up ( uses my makeup brushes on my tummy).
Katie that is a gorgeous picture of the boys.
Ruby, how are you doing with the idea of finding out if little one is a girl or boy soon. I didn't find out with ds1, but the planner in me couldn't imagine not knowing now.
I too have been in the nesting/cleaning mode. I am done being pregnant at this point, but apparently baby doesn't agree yet. Been drinking the tea, eating dates, and doing foot massages, but nothing yet.

The boys are both excited that it's so close as well, when DS1 goes to bed he keeps saying 'hope it's tonight' I've been trying to prepare them that they might wake up and someone could be here babysitting because we're off having a baby. They're very excited!

Can't wait to find out the gender now and really glad we decided to wait. DS2 says he doesn't care what we have but wants a boy LOL, DS1 wants a sister. Names are final now so can't wait to see which one we get to use. Still thinking girl but we will see!

Its FINALLY October!! We are having our babies this month! Even if I go so far over due that I need inducing, unless it takes 2/3 days to get me started and get him out there is no doubt he will be arriving this month!
I do feel done at this point though. I feel like I've done this 4 times in 8 years, its enough! But then I know I will want to do it again when its all over LMAO

I woke up this morning feeling so excited and positive, just because its October now LOL I can't wait, I want to know what he weighs and what he looks like, if his going to take after one of his brothers or be completely different. I want to cuddle him and feed him and finally see all those new little clothes on him LOL I am so looking forward to doing all those baby things again.

I am super emotional lately too and will cry at the drop of a hat and get upset with kids pretty easily, but I think the family all knows not to mess with me right now LOL. And the commentary from strangers gets barely a response from me anymore. "Wow, you look like you're about to pop/Are you having twins?/That baby has dropped!/When is your baby due?" 38 weeks today and getting checked so hopefully SOMETHING is happening. I had girls late so not getting hopes up.

I'm having a tough GD lately too. I think for so long in between I didn't have any people guessing but now that I'm so close everyone is over the top telling me "this is your girl." It's heartbreaking. Too it off with the fact that TWO college friends who both have two boys just announced they are having girls. Just puts me in a tailspin. I agree I think it must be normal, especially at this stage when I know my hormones are in over drive with excitement and nerves and just wanting to be done. It must be so much harder knowing you are having a boy but having everyone guessing girl. I had a small taste the other day. Someone (who I was sure knew but must have forgotten) said maybe this one will be a girl and I had to tell her that no it wont be. I've got two pregnant friends left now due after me. 1 knows she is having a boy, she already has one of each. The other has a boy and doesn't know what she is having this time. She told me she had a dream the other night she had a girl and didn't like her and tried to swap with me for my boy! Now granted I wouldn't swap this baby now, but it still hurt because I am convinced she is having a girl.
I'm still not convinced I will get to try again. I know now that I want to and I will have to sway just so I can say I gave it my best shot. But its trying to get DH on side. So this could be our last too. And when I think of that I feel sad for the fact I'll never get to do this again (even though right now if he decided he was ready to come I wouldn't complain LOL) and that the chance of a girl would be 0 if we didn't have another. I feel, atm, that I would be able to accept a 5th boy and be happy knowing I tried. But I've been up and down about it.

Once our babies are here we will love them no matter what and I'm sure that each of them are who we were meant to have in our lives.

I've got to admit, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one whose hormones have gone into full blown overdrive. I am a mess these days!!! I don't remember crying this much with any of my other pregnancies. I feel like I'm walking on the edge constantly, never sure when my next break down might be. I took DS3 out to lunch the other day, my last little date with him as my baby, and I broke down and cried in the middle of the restaurant!! Then I cried again when I got him to the car. It just hit me like a ton of bricks that after almost 4 years he will no longer be the baby. I'm ready for this little guy to be here, but I'm not ready for him at the same time. I haven't been able to picture him with our family. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around going through labor and having a newborn again. And I worry about if bringing a new baby home will throw off the balance and chemistry we have with our boys now. It all gets me so worked up!! I mean, goodness, I'm 5 days away from having him and I still can't grasp having four children.

Lola-How did your appt. go? I hate when people ask when I am due and usually brush it off with "a while still", but can't do that now due to huge size.
Katie-I had the same thing happen after my check-spotting and contractions that lasted all night. Didn't want to mention it because I was hopeful for you. I know it will be done soon but I prefer sooner to later at this point!
Navywife-How exciting to have your dh back! How long has it been?
ICB3-It's a tough call for me. I do like to think let baby come when they want usually although I have been trying every natural method this time to encourage her to come out now lol. I did have my membranes stripped last time as I was overdue and baby did come w/in 2 days (dilated to 3 for 3 weeks). I guess it comes down to how comfortable you would feel having someone else deliver you if you happen to go in those two days.
Big hugs to everyone struggling with gd. I do find it odd how strangers feel the need to know. Even though I am getting my dd, I still find it offensive when someone asks what I am having. If I do or don't say, either way there is the presumption that I must want a girl. I always feel bad for ds2 because people discount him even though I DID want him to be a boy. Also this is my last too (age reasons more than anything), and feeling that sadness of it all being done and am a crying mess too. I am looking forward to my body finally being mine alone in a year (plan to bf for a year).
I can't wait to start hearing birth stories!

My hormones are all over the place. I'm easily irritated and find myself crying over almost everything. The other day I broke down for NO reason, honestly I couldn't think of a single reason that I was crying but I couldn't hold back. Madness.

Tonight out side of school I was talking to a lady who was there collecting the children she child minds, she also runs the local Beaver Scouts that my eldest goes to so she knows him well and knows we are having another boy. She was telling me about her boys. She had 5. She had 2 years between the first two, then a few years later fell pregnant with triplets! Naturally! They are now all in their teens and over 6 foot tall, big strapping lads, all super smart, at the local grammer.
It was so nice hearing someone who has been there and done that and raised 5 boys talking about having an all boy family and how great it was, and what its like all those years down the line. She said she had the same reactions back then, she phoned her family to tell them all 3 were boys and got "aw what a shame, couldn't one of them be a girl" and now she gets comments from people about how lucky she is to have them.

HI Everyone, my due date is oct 18, this is my first pregnancy is there any hints and symptoms for labor to ascertain few days before and aware

motherofboys
October 3rd, 2013, 09:13 AM
Hi Champranjani, its a difficult one to answer. There are many signs that your body is heading towards labour, but at the same time they are normal for the last few weeks and don't necessarily mean labour is as close as we would like it to be. And some women wont experience any of them anyway.

Well I had my 38 week appointment today. She said the baby was 'right down there' and made it sound as if he must be full engaged, then wrote 3/5s in my notes. I've never been more than 3/5s engaged before. She measured me and said that the baby is so far down in my pelvis that I was only measuring 33 weeks after measuring on target previously. She then measured all the way to my ribs and said "if I measure to here we will get 38 weeks" and wrote 38 in my notes. She said his heart beat was nice and stead and relaxed and didn't sound like he was going anywhere soon.
Then asked again about parking for my home birth! I said well with my first home birth the midwife arrives at 4:30 am and she found somewhere to leave her car then. She asked again about someone having my boys, I said my SIL lives 2 doors away and she said "does she know shes having them?" Erm no I just assumed it would be ok, of course she knows. Followed by "don't want her getting a surprise when they knock on her door in the middle of the night hahaha" Sorry if I'm in labour in the middle of the night I'm not going to go wake my kids up and send them round there! I will leave them in their beds to sleep, I'm not noisy in labour and the bigger two if they did wake up could be told whats happening and to stay upstairs and they would. If I had an emergency and had to leave again I wouldn't wake them, but would get SIL to come and sit in my house until they woke up.

What a strange midwife MOBs, I would have thought one of the benefits of a homebirth is that you don't have to wake and get the kids babysat!

I don't think my baby is even engaged yet so been bouncing on the fit ball trying to get he/she into a good position. Still feeling much smaller than with DS2 who was 9pd 10 so hoping this bub isn't quite so big.

Exactly! And like I want to wake my kids in the middle of the night anyway and get them all excited so they can't go back to sleep and then deal with a new baby and 3 over tired grumpy/whiney/arguing boys all day too LOL
I have to say other than the last school run of the day at 3pm I don't really feel much like his engaged. I don't feel I'm waddling, or like I have anything right down there. That last school run I feel a lot of pressure and 'lightening crotch' but apart from that I feel 'normal' just tired.

After a while his movement finally picked up, which was a huge relief, but my blood pressure was high and I was having contractions so they kept me there for a while. Once my BP went down to normal they said I could go home. We're doing okay now! I'm glad to know there was nothing wrong with the baby. He was just being stubborn and not moving! I can't wait to meet him in a couple days.

Wow that must have been scary Katie. Glad his OK.
My little man has been quieter than usual the past couple of days, but has now started going mental and TMI but I just had some bloody show! No pains yet though.
Never had the bloody show with out labour starting so I hope my body isn't going to trick me now and keep me waiting, but I'm also suddenly nervous LMAO

Mother-bloody show...! Sounds like this could be near for you! I've never had that w any of my labors but sounds promising!

Katie- so glad baby is ok! Nerve wracking!!! Good luck on Monday!

My hair stylist this morning was talking about all the "ways to pick the gender of your baby" and I just sat and listened to her like I knew nothing. Said a bunch of her girlfriends swear by timing. I wish I could say I disagree, but all three of my boys were conceived on O day. What about you all?? When did u dtd to get your boy or girl?

The name game is still going on for us. So frustrating. Down to Reid, Chase or Camden. Any thoughts from you girls? .

I've always had a bloody show during or just before labour, but still no pains here yet. I feel like I should go to be to try to get some sleep just in case. But worried I'll wake up in the morning and it will just be another day PMSL

As for timing, DS1 I THINK it was day of O, we only did it once during that time, but then again it was first month TTC so I didn't know much and just worked it out in my head to be the middle of my cycle.
DS2 I used OPKs and know it was the day I got my +opk because we hadn't dtd around that time again due to DH being ill.
DS3 was 3 days before O.
This baby was the day before O, although I O'd earlier than expected so I thought I still had a few days to go until O LOL

Daily life is manic here atm, so my keeping up with posting has been slacking, sorry ladies, but what news to come back to!! Mob's hopefully this weekend will be it for you!!! Katie, sounds like your little man may be getting ready as they say they go quiet before labor don't they:luck::luck:
Sorry that the GD has been rearing its head for people lately:( these little people will start showing up soon and hopefully will be the brightest little silver linings ever:)

All day I've had a bit of bloody show now and then and a few pains then they have stopped for a couple of hours then a few more pains. I so want it to happen this weekend. DS2s birthday is next weekend so I'd be semi settled in time for that if he comes this weekend.

I know TMI, but what could I take for constipation!! I am so badly bunged up, and it is painful to go to the toilet, I nearly would need the gas and air for it!!! LOL

Sorry to board crash Peb but Lactulose is brilliant. You can buy it over the counter in the UK. I suffered terribly with it with ds2 & I'm now convinced that it was the prenatals I took as my iron levels seem to be pretty good when I'm pregnant. I think I just had too much iron. Perhaps you should see the doc too as if you're impacted it's agony. Don't suffer alone! Ooh another good thing to take regularly is prunes or dates. They're actually really nice much to my surprise. Try a couple of each a day. GL hope you're feeling better soon! :)

24 hours from now I'll be in the hospital, and I still can't picture having a fourth child. I'm nervous and excited, and I'm ready but somehow not ready either. I kind of just feel like crying a whole lot.

I second the Lactulose peb, the last thing you want is to be constipated leading up to labour.

Katie I can't picture another child yet either but I'm sure once they're here it'll be just like they've always been a part of the family.

So much for saying I felt too comfortable the other day. We spent Sat walking around a big caravanning exhibition (4 hrs) and now I am soo sore in the lower back, hoping it's helped move everything along though.

Motherofboys I hope things start up again soon. A bloody show is a great sign, I think you'll go before your due date.

Good luck for tomorrow Katie, can't wait for your update.

Feeling very fed up here. I'm not even overdue yet but I really hoped I would have the baby this weekend. DH goes to college in the evenings after work Monday-Wednesday, he leaves the house before I wake up and gets back late at night when I'm in bed so I pretty much don't see him at all those days. I'm finding it really hard doing everything by myself I'm so exhausted, I'm always in a bad mood on Sundays dreading it. He's taking 2 weeks off work when I have the baby so I had hoped if I had the baby this weekend then I wouldn't have to cope all on my own next week. But I'll probably go overdue and have to do it for another 2 weeks.

Have been trying everything, pineapple, licorice, walking, sex, been drinking raspberry leaf tea since 34 weeks and eating dates since 36 weeks. Having absolutely no signs of anything happening.

Hi Friends,

I am currently 37+4 weeks, this evening 4p.m had intercourse and we both reached our orgasms... 2 hours Post intercourse, I had developed dull backache, leg pain... And was feeling menstrual like cramps and developed mild contractions for nearly 4 hours continuously... Now time is 11pm.. Water is not broken, and mucus plug too not released... Should I go to doctor tommorrow or its just false labor... Kindly guide me with ur inputs... As this is my first pregnancy...

champranjani I would just wait and see how things progress overnight. You can always call your doctor or hospital for advice. Sounds like it could be the start but could easily still stop at the stage. Also keep in mind that early labour can take a lot longer with first baby.

Any baby news Katie?

congratulations Katie!

Zem We have had one baby make an early entrance at the end of September, so Duncan is the first to be born in October, although the 2nd of the group.

I'm so stupidly emotional this morning I cried when DH was going to work! He asked if he should come home early! I've told him no, even though I want him to. If his going to be off for 2 weeks soon then he can't go doing less hours now. His self employed so not working equals not getting paid.

My baby boy was born yesterday the 8th at 5:29! It was an incredibly fast delivery but with complications for me, as I started hemorrhaging blood and blood pressure got down to 50/30. Very scary! But all is good now and the baby is beautiful! Still working on a name and hopefully some pics later!

Good Luck Strawberry.

I am extremely jealous LOL I know I'll only be 39 weeks tomorrow but I have pains on and off all day every day. They are really intense by the time I go to be. Then I wake up to nothing. I'm fed up of it now.
DS2s birthday on Sunday, he'll either decide to arrive then or I'll be going over.

Congratulations ICB3. That must have been scary, glad you're ok.

Good luck Strawberry! Hope you have a quick and easy labour!

Motherofboys hopefully those pains are doing something. Hopefully you're dlowly dilating so when it kicks off for real it will be quick and easy!

I'm feeling very jealous here too. I've been in tears all morning as I've just had enough of being pregnant. DS1 is having problems settling in in school and I'm stressed about that, DS2 is sick and is just clinging to me all day long and up coughing all night. DH is gone for such a long day and I'm really struggling. Just want to have the baby so DH will take time off work and take over for a while.

I'm having no signs of anything happening and I'm starting to think I might go really overdue this time.

Pangea - we're your boys overdue? Hopefully you'll have a baby in your arms soon x

I've been having lots of cramping as well, especially in the late arvo and during the night. Just enough to keep we awake! I tell you this late pregnancy stuff is hard, oh what I would do with a full nights sleep! I'm off to midwife clinic today then SIL's b'day dinner tonight. The boys are so excited for the baby I wish I could tell them when he/she will arrive.
