View Full Version : Crystal Light?? Caffeine-free Diet Coke??

When TTC pink, are all Crystal Light flavors okay? When I swayed with #3, I drank the pink lemonade and the raspberry ice flavors. I've since heard that we should maybe stay away from the lemonade flavors... is this right? Does anyone know which ones are okay and which ones are not? I feel overwhelmed by all of the old information, new information, and I-may-have-inadvertently-made-that-up information all swimming around in my head.

Also, does anyone know if caffeine-free Diet Coke is okay? This was not something I tried last time, but I'm so going to miss having soda - I'm looking for a way to get around having to cut it out!

Thanks, all!

Also wondering about the CL flavors. I have read elsewhere that any soda/pop is a no-no because the carbonation interferes with calcium absorbtion.

Well, as a mom of 3 DD, I can recommend the pink lemonade because I drank it by the gallon before knowing about swaying!

I'm so glad to hear that, nuthinbutpink - the pink lemonade is my favorite!

That would make sense - I hadn't thought about absorbtion problems. Thanks!

I think I remember reading that somewhere now, too - maybe it was tea and not lemonade that I'm thinking of? Thanks, queen-of-harts!

No tea flavors because they have caffeine. All the flavors in Crystal Light are man-made and not natural so it's ok to have the lemon ones.

I ~personally~ think that caffeine free Diet Coke is perfectly fine for a sway. Yes, the phosphoric acid and/or caffeine in pop is supposed to mess with calcium absorption but we don't even KNOW that we want calcium to be absorbed into our bones or just floating around in our bodies unabsorbed.

It's not the carbonation that is supposed to interfere with calcium absorption anyway, it is most likely either the caffeine or the phosphoric acid. (you have to drink GALLONS of carbonated drinks a day to affect your bones, see link below) So if you are DYING for a carbonated treat, I suggest seltzer water, the carbon dioxide bubbles sway slightly pink and it is JUST water, so it's fine to have as much as you want within reason, of course.

This has been debunked, it's not carbonation, it's phosphoric acid and/or possibly caffeine. Carbonated water is fine for pink and seltzer is much cheaper than Perrier and it really helps you stick to the diet.

Excuse the silly question - but what's perrier? Is it carbonated/fizzy mineral water?

Thank you - so we want to drink things which are acidic (low pH)? I thought we ate alkaline because that makes our body acidic, so opposite to this? I think I've got something confused somewhere - quite likely!

Woah, I don't like the sound of that at all! I'm not planning on drinking cranberry juice or taking cranberry supplements etc. which I'm quite pleased about reading that! I don't think I'll be drinking crystal light either, I just don't think it can be as magic as it's claimed to be.

What should have been explained is some "foods" that are acidic can turn alkaline in the digestive tract... lemon, lime, red meat, and a lot acidic type fruits. Our bodies don't know what to do with chemical stuff like aspartame so it stays acidic in the body. Cranberry is normal used for women prone to bladder infections because it changes the acidic levels in the body and bladder and it kills the bacteria.

Once I get pregnant I am going back to my normal diet... diet anything, crystal light, and most of the dairy are going away right away. I like to balance my foods with water and I am having a hard time with all this dairy.

Have you read Atomic's blog from when she was eating a low fat/cal/protein/salt diet? Her pH went down simply from doing that ... Milk and yogurt are quite high in all those things, even skimmed versions.

I feel like you might be my doppelganger from another country - first I saw that your boys are the same age as mine and then I happened to see that you and your DH are the same age as me and mine. I hope that doesn't sound like I'm stalking you as I've pretty much read every post on here now!!

Some foods make you acidic, some foods make you alkaline. You can't tell by the nature of the food itself what effect it will have inside your body but there are many websites that list them.

Thanks for this great answer PP! The only thing I need to point out is that the idea that cranberry cures UTI through acidity has been debunked. In fact, it alters the lining of the your bladder and makes it less "sticky" to bacteria and so you are less likely to get UTIs.

My pH actually went down JUST from losing weight, before I did anything else. (note - it didn't help me conceive a boy!)

I know that people with higher urine ph are more likely to get bladder infections... My mom used to get them like every month and her ph was above 8 and once 9. Testing done by a Dr.

The whole alchohol thing intrests me since i am not a drinker and have blue x 6. I always see the women who drink and party all the time seem to have way more girls.I think for some people it could help sway pink if you normally stressed and then drink a bit before your sway and it relaxes you.

This has been the case for MANY people I know as well. The ones who go crazy planning pregnancies and taking prenatal vites for 3 months ahead of time have boys and then the oopsies have girls. Just a generalization to people I happen to know and not necessarily true in every case, or even at all.

Even some of the IG ladies with 4 boys already, their little girls were oopsies (sometimes after a few drinks!)

After reading back through old posts, I'm going to change my tipple from wine to vodka, cranberry and slimline tonic (aspartame and that other testosterone lowering ingredient you get in tonic water!) - then I won't feel out when DH has a beer at the weekend!

zanacal

Hi, I don't know if it's sold outside the UK. 'Tonic' is Indian Tonic Water and slimline is the diet version made with aspartame. It has an ingredient called quinine in it which I read on here can lower testosterone. It has a very bitter taste, which I don't particularly like but I think may be ok with cranberry - often drank with vodka or gin as a mixer here.

Ok thanks Zanacal! Atomic what do you think is the best drink for ttc pink? and how bad is it for pink if dh drinks beer regularly?

atomic sagebrush
May 27th, 2011, 02:46 PM
Hard liquor is best for pink. Something like rum and caff free diet coke, or vodka and diet cran juice, or anything mixed with Crystal Light. I don't think it's terrible if DH drinks beer regularly, it may even help lower his sperm count to a certain extent. (Note - did not help us conceive a girl though!!)

Big :agree: on tonic water with quinine and also on seltzer water but avoid club soda, it has baking soda in it.

Hi all,

I read through the posts and i am confused about what to drink and when?
Should you not drink tap water at all?
I am drinking crystal light. Should i drink around 66-100iz of it in all day as i read somewhere else?

Atomic mentioned somewhere that cranberry has lot of nutrieNys
So i planned to skip that.

Atomic, with the whole calcium theory not helping i skipped milk all together from ny diet. Is it ok not to have any source of calciu in the fiet?

Vodka is better or white wine ir redwine?

Me and my Dh are not in alcohol and drink very rarely . So if we have to dribk for our chances of girl to conceive which CD is better to drink?

Thank you so much for all the advice i am getting on this forum.

Anyone else just stumbling upon this thread, in the 4 years since, we have had quite good results with alcohol for pink sways with both Zanacal and myself getting girls while using it - 70-80% success rate

You can have tap water. I do not think the "it's in the water" idea holds any merit. I have a very old thread about it here if you prefer to go with bottled http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/2159-water-water-everywhere-pink-blue.html

no more than 2-3, 12-16 oz servings of Crystal Light or diet drinks per day.

You can have milk and dairy foods as a PART of your diet, it's fine to have some. No need to totally cut it out. Just don't forcefeed yourself with it, that's all. :)

Cranberry = nutrients and also we tracked the results and it did not seem to be doing anything.

All alcohol getting good results, go with your preference.

We do not know if one CD is better than another for alcohol. I think most people are drinking 1-2 daily during the follicular phase and then stopping during the 2ww.
