View Full Version : To continue swaying after a loss...?

Hi everyone,
this weekend I suffered an early miscarriage at 5+ weeks (I really don't like the term chemical, sorry)
I had been swaying with a more PCOS friendly version of the LE diet, sticking to 1200-1300 calories a day and taking 1200mg of Folic acid. No other supps. I take metformin for the insulin resistance side of PCOS.
As part of our sway I took zirtec every day and we done compressed frequent release. We had several attempts leading up to O, with an unintential cut off of O-1.

I believe this early loss was nature's way of saying this pregnancy was just not meant to be, for whatever reason - be it chromosomal etc. I do not believe it was an issue with implantation.
However, after reading AS's essay on swaying after miscarriage, I can't help but wonder if any aspect of my sway could have, in some way, contributed to a miscarriage.

I am just wondering if anybody continued to sway after a loss and if so - did you keep up the same sway tactics or did you approach future cycles with a more relaxed, gentle sway?
Do you think there is anything I could improve or change to tweak my sway for the future? My sway was by no means a super, all guns blazing sway.
I am tempted to drop the zirtec.
I am also worried that my potassium intake is too low, I really need to work on getting more potassium through diet.

Hubby & I are devastated but both in agreement that providing this doesn't affect my cycle this month, we want to try again as soon as possible. Taking metformin for several years really regulated my cycle, it was like clockwork and now I don't know how it will be affected or when/IF I will ovulate this month.
Very interested to hear from other women how their loss affected future TTC/swaying...

So sorry for your loss, princess. I had an early loss at 4.5 weeks back in May. I think it was purely down to bad luck on my part. Do I think the sway played any part in the loss? IMO, no. If the sway had to do it, I honestly don't think I would have conceived at all.

For repeated miscarriages is best to check with your doctor and see if they're wiling to test to see if all is well with me - all could be fine and just a streak of bad luck, but could also have to do with underlying problems such as thyroid, etc.

I'm going to stick to the sway, but won't be throwing everything but the kitchen sink at it. I have upped my folic acid since the m/c and taking a small amount of of other supps. I'm lowering 'concentrated' protein by not eating meat, cut out snacking, 1-2 servings of aspartame per day, the odd antihistamine, maybe use the tiniest amount of Sylk as an aid but will be dropping the RepHresh.

Hang in there - take things a cycle at a time and know you have us all here for support :hug2:

Thanks for that, Bunnywabbit. I am unable to get any testing at present for underlying issues, because I haven't had 3 consecutive losses. I've had two, but between them conceived my DS who is perfect, as was the conception/pregancy.
So, I really am hoping this was just one of those episodes of bad luck.
I drink far too much diet pop and have sweet n low in my (decaf) tea/coffee so I think I need to address how much aspartame I am consuming. I wish I could cut out meat but I just can't :(

Sorry for your loss. I have PCOS too. I would suggest asking your Dr. To check your hormones. My progesterone stays to low. My Dr. Suggested progesterone supplement next time I plan on conceiving.

I doubt it was at all related to swaying and I'm sorry if anything I said made you wonder that. The early losses are mostly just as you say, not meant to be.

thinking of you.
