I started taking Chitosan a couple weeks ago and I've read that you should have certain vitamins when taking Chitosan, but Vitamins are not ok when swaying pink. So, my question is, is it safe to start Chitosan this far before TTC (about 8 weeks) or should I stop it and start again the two weeks prior to TTC? I don't know how long it can be taken safely without the recommended vitamins and I don't want to compromise my health. Your input would be great! Thanks.

It's safe to take without vitamins. It saps nutrients and fat from the food you eat (helping your pink sway) but this won't do you any harm.

in the (very) long term it can deplete you of fat soluble nutrients A, D, E, K but this takes quite some time to harm you - the average person has years of these nutrients stored in the body fat. that warning is for people who take the Chitosan for years as a way to keep from gaining weight.

Is this something I can find at a place like Walgreens or Walmart? Do I need to track it in my daily totals? How much/when are you taking it? Sorry for all the questions...I had completely missed this element in my sway! Thank you!

Hi. I bought mine on a health shop but I know they sell it on ebay. I am not sure if you can find it at Walmart, at least not here, but I am certain they sell it online in most health/vitamin shops. I am having it according to recommended dosage. 2 pills 3xday, 4 hours before OR right after main meals with 250ml of water. It shouldn't be hard to find and hopefully not too late if you want to incorporate it into your sway.:fingers: for us! :)

I'm sure they have to put that on for legal purposes.
I prefer that you guys get pg within 6 months anyway so it's all the same to me.

only need to use it with a meal containing fat
use package directions
May be hard to find at Walgreens, I got mine at a vitamin store (I didn't use it for swaying, used it for weight loss)

Thank you...is this something I would stop using after O, in terms of safety?

Good question! I would also like to know that. It doesn't say on the one I bought, but I am just guessing that as it promotes malabsorption of certain vitamins it would be a bad idea to take when pregnant? Just guessing here, though.

No, you can continue using it after ovulation. At BFP, you can either stop or if you need something for regularity, I'd switch to one of the other fibers like Metamucil or inulin and be sure that you are taking yoru prenatal and a DHA supp at a different time of day. That way the vitamins will be absorbed at a different time of day than when you're using the fiber.
The little ball of cells that will become your baby does not need anything from you that first little bit, so it is fine to continue the fiber until BFP and then drop it.

Yes! All fibers are fine till BFP and Metamucil (psyllium) and inulin are fine beyond that as long as you take your prenatals at a different time of day.
