I am TTC a girl but haven't had much luck at all! I conceived DS 1 & 2 very easily (ages 5 & 7 - DS 1 a fabulous surprise and DS 2 1st month). We have been TTC girl on and off for over 2 years :(. My problem is that my cycles are crazy and unpredictable - DH works away at least 2-3 nights per week (sods law - normally when I'm ovulating which doesn't help).
This month I got a positive OPK on Sunday afternoon (CD19) - we DTD that afternoon - then I had an acupuncture session (to treat fertility) on the Monday CD20 thinking I would ovulate that day - we also DTD that night. Then DH went away - OPK was negative day 20 but then my temps didn't rise so I did another digital ovulation test which was positive CD22 - positive again CD23 and negative today - CD24. DH is home tonight - is it worth me doing another attempt?
Could I have already ovulated? Maybe ill ovulate twice?
Any ideas as to why my LH surge is so long (or seems to have surged then dropped then surged again).
I'm a bit worried that another attempt will hurt my sway - this would be a third attempt (days 19, 20 & 24)!
Any thoughts? Thank you :)

Hi, I am by no means any expert, but I can give you my opinion based on my experience?...I had something similar happen to me recently, and atomic's opinion was that the first surge was most likely a faker (ie. body gears up to O and for some reason changes its mind, and then O's properly a few days later)...I think from what you said about your temps that is what has most likely happened to you this cycle too. What have your temps done last few days?...have you noticed a rise yet?...this may help clarify, but I am so rubbish with temps I can never make head nor tail of mine lol!

So to answer your question, if I was in your shoes, I would def have another attempt tonight...it might be cutting it fine to catch the egg (if 2nd +opk is correct) but worth a try IMO...I understand your worries about having too many attempts in one cycle, but the way I would look at it would be:
1) IF the 1st +opk was correct, then you would have already O'd, so this one wouldn't really count as an extra attempt anyway
2) If the 2nd +opk is correct, then your attempts on CD19, 20 are likely to be not close enough to O to be in with a good shot...plus atomic told me that if you are struggling to pinpoint O, a good strategy is BD every 4-5days, and chances are you will have one attempt (and v unlikely to have more than one) in your fertile window, no matter where O lands. So with your last attempt being 4days ago, I would take that to mean you would be ok to have another today.

Anyway, just my 2cents, and obviously completely your decision (also depends on how quickly you want to get pg!) but if I was you I would definitely have another shot tonight to try & cover the bases.

Best of luck :)

My temps have increased slightly over the past couple of days but I've also had alcohol which affects my temps (doh) - I will go for it tonight!
