Hi girls.
I am freaking out as I got a BFP the only month I didn't want one. Last month I thought I was pregnant and was thrilled but this month my sway was not as I wanted and I have not had any signs of pregnancy, so I am rather shocked to have seen the infamous second line on the test.
I am trying to remember which side the egg came from and will ask the clinic tomorrow (I had a scan - I don't know if the wrote it down).
Are there stats on this? I seem to remember that most girls come from the left ovary. Is this true?
I spent most of yesterday worrying and crying and I should be sleeping right now but my head is filled with thoughts...
Hope to hear from you girls. Thanks!

Plenty girls come from the right.
Plenty girls come from the left.
Plenty girls come from left and implant on the left or come from the left and implant on the right and vise versa.
I read a large survey recently. It's pretty much even.

Thanks for your answer. I started to Google afterwards and found a thread on the topic here on Genderdreaming and got the same impression.

There is a tendency in that direction with many exceptions. But you can't just look at one side of ovulation, there seems to be some pattern going on that lasts for months at a time. So you aren't going to be able to tell that much from the side you ovulated on.

Hi Atomic....

Regarding this, I am pretty sure I geared up from my left ovary, then it didn't ovulate, and then I don't know which ovary released an egg later but thinking the right from the twinges I've been having. All three of my boys were right Os, and felt the same in the early days as this one. So I am freaking out thinking I am doomed to never have a girl. I guess my question is, if your body gears up to ovulate from a certain ovary, fails, and then ovulates later....would it ovulate ultimately from the ovary that was primed, or from the other one? Thanks!

Well I can tell you that I usually O from my right side. When I conceived my DS3, I Oed from my left ovary AND he implanted in the left side. He is very much a HE, hahaha! I swayed when trying for him.

I wouldn't fret one tiny bit about this. Remember that all we are doing is trying to sway the odds.

FX and GL to you!

Thank you...I am stressing these small details and I know it's not good for me. My first ultrasound is next week and I know I am going to be crushed if the baby is on the right:nails:

The lady who started this post was pregnant with a girl.

You cannot tell what side you Oed on on the basis of O pains.

Beyond that, you can gear up to O from one ovary, and then still ovulate from that same ovary (even the same egg). No one can tell you what gender you're carrying based on this. :)
