So I have a trip to the Caribbean planned for June, and will be TTC in July. I thought it would work out perfectly because of all the fresh air and relaxation, plus very little electronic influence. But I will be exposed to a lot of salt water, and I want to be able to have some alcohol. I don't mind sticking to the rest of my low everything diet, but I really want to be able to sit back relax and have a pina colada.

Should I put of TTC till August? Or do you think it will be okay. I won't ovulate until about 1.5 weeks after I get back.

I definitely understand where you're coming from -- we have a trip to France in September and then I know the holidays will have all sorts of non-sway-appropriate food temptations (ham! sugar cookies!). So I personally am holding off until all such "hiccups" are out of the way and so I can then start the clock on my (at least) six weeks of diet before TTC.

General opinion seems to hold that diet is more important than anything (versus, say, any ionic influence of wind or water) ... so you might want to consider holding off until August ... you know, have a great time on your vacation, drink and eat what you want and then hit the diet hard-core upon your return? Just my pretty-new-to-swaying two cents. :)

Good luck!

Same here!
We have our vacation booked for the end of July and I wanted to attempt in June but IF I get bfp, I don't want to risk m/c on holiday.
The other thing is I want to be exposed to salt water there ( I'm TTC :bigboy:) but on the other hand I don't want to carry around all my supps and other swaying equipment LOL! And to give more pressure to my DH like: NOW it's time to dtd!!! :whip:
So when I put together all pro's and con's - I just don't know... I'll probably give it a go in June, just because I'm not getting any younger lol!( 38 yo) and if bfn, then pack it ALL and :whip: dh! lol!

For you guys I have a solution: I would skip holiday months and try in Aug or Oct. Who wouldn't like to fully enjoy Carribean islands or France?

And I bet you are MUCH younger than me, so month here or there wouldn't make that much dif :agree:

I can sooooo relate! I just got back from a week-long cruise to the Bahamas and ate/drank & snorkeled my tail off. I should push TTC out but I want to get preggers sooner than later so I've made peace w/my decision and will push forward to TTC on the next cycle. For "perfect" swaying, you should definitely push your sway out (since you don't want to ruin your vay-cay!!!). It's one of those tough decisions you'll have to weigh and decide for yourself.

Have a great vay-cay and BEST OF LUCK on your sway!

ZB - That's why we opted not to TTC while on vay-cay. Was supposed to O right in the middle of the cruise but turns out I ended up not O'ing that cycle. I say ENJOY the vay-cay!!! GL

Same for me!
We´re going to start TTC in July, and we´re going camping on the seaside for 2 weeks in June in Italy :sigh: so salt water for me too, and the doing the diet in Italy will be hard.
I never really considered waiting since I´ve been researching and waiting a lot of months now, and in August I have the same problem again going to the mountains in Italy on a big inlaw family reunion. Waiting till october is soooo long...
I was thinking that being on holiday will also help me though because I will be a lot outside and be distracted, and that really helps to not eat. My husband doesn´t want to go eat outside a lot anyway and this weekend we´re going to Rome, so this will be my enjoy-time.

Does salt water sway blue just because it raises pH (I´m not too worried about that) or is there another reason?

Argh! Now I don't know what to do. This totally might change my sway. Will alcohol and salt water have that much of an affect even 2 weeks away from ovulation?

Hi,
I don't believe it will! Just be careful not to swallow the water! I went on holiday recently and tried to stick to it but totally didn't! I did the best I could-its hard to stick to when you eat out! I just took my aci gel etc. When I go swimming i use the refresh so my ph doesn't change.
I have just found out I'm not pregnant this month so I'm glad I didn't worry too much because at least I know I didn't waste a month.
With the alcohol its about the most acid thing you can do to your body so I would just go for it! I have spent loads of cycles worrying about my diet and wished I didn't as didn't get pregnant anyway.

So if alcohol is the MOST acid thing we can do, that makes it the worst I am assuming?

No it makes your body acidic. The reason I know this is that I suffer with endometriosis and I have a homeopathy/nutritionist to help with my pain. My pain is made worse when my body gets too acidic and I told him that alcohol seems to make my pain worse and he said that it is the most acid forming thing we can put in our body!

I wonder why Pink swayers are suppose to stay away from alcohol then? Is it the sugar?

Some of the people involved with swaying have moral issues against drinking when you might be about to conceive a baby. I personally believe that is the ONLY reason that drinking is not allowed in a pink sway.

I don't think a drink here or there before you conceive will hurt a thing at all and will prob. help sway pink, as long as you are careful not to overdo. Sanity and moderation in all things. People have been drinking alcohol for thousands of years and many babies have been conceived after their moms had a drink or two. No one should ever drink while pregnant of course, I'm talking about before pregnancy.

The only thing I would say about the drinking is NOT to drink a pina colada, there are other, more pink friendly drinks that you can select like cran and vodka.

I ~personally~ would put off swaying until August and have a BLAST. I don't think 1.5 weeks is long enough to make up for the dietary changes unfortunately.

If you buy into the minerals theory, the idea is that it is absorbed through your skin (and gets into your vj when swimming) and that alters the vaginal environment in such a way to make it more boy friendly.

PS - I think swimming in salt water is probably fine.

The idea is that the sodium can be absorbed through your skin and 2 weeks is just not that much time.

I wasn't concerned with the alcohol, but I do want you to be able to have a good time and enjoy every second, and I dont' think you'll be able to do that if you're monitoring every scrap of food you eat, KWIM???

I know. I have just worked so hard preparing for the July deadline, now putting it off another month and being on a diet like this, just really stinks.

Some of the people who were involved with swaying in its early days have moral issues against drinking.

So not that I plan on getting drunk, but I like to have a little wine a couple of days a week, is this okay on the girl diet?

Wine is a bit of a no-no because the antioxidants may sway blue, and also because grapes are alkalinizing. Hard liquor is best to drink for TTC pink. (beer has a lot of B vitamins and antioxidants as well)

That having been said, I highly doubt that everyone who drinks wine with dinner (i.e. most of Europe) has only boys. No magic foods!!!

Perfect atomic, bourbon is my drink of choice, so I will have a small glass of that if I need to relax at night instead of wine.
