Hello,
My situation is slightly unique in that I did not want to get pregnant, and was actually on birth control when I found out I am pregnant (I had the IUD). So, it has taken me literally WEEKS to come around to the idea of having another baby when we were just fine with the one we have. But one of the main reasons i had been coming around to the idea of baby #2 is the idea of having a girl. We have a 2 yr old boy and I have always wanted a little girl, i think because I am a dancer and teach dance and imagine a little tutu wearing mini-me. lol. anyways. at my 12 week NT scan the tech told me she was 90% sure it was a boy based off the Potty Shot. She didn't mention anything about nub theory. Needless to say i'm devestated- until I started researching 12 week ultrasounds & I realize MAYBE she was wrong. hey, if i was in the 1% of women who get pregnant using bc, then why can't the percentages swing my way on this too?? ;)
please, anyone think this could be a girl? i realize the potty shot looks a bit boyish. arg.

Hi there, I think the same as your tech but going off the nub shot not the potty shot. Either way you could still have a little dancer in there who is meant to be. Good luck!

It looks like it's a boy. You will love having two boys. My boys are crazy about eachother and I'm one of those waaay to happy moms when I watch them together. You will be too, trust me.

It looks blue. FWIW, I do have a child that dances BUT at the recital, the boy that was part of Company was one of the most exciting to watch. We all look forward to when he took the stage. Boys can dance too. Brothers are awesome and I am sorry this one took you by surprise. This is just guessing though. You'll have to wait a few weeks to really know anything for sure.

Potty shot looks boy-ish, but like you said, at 12 weeks, girls have very similar parts, so I think it could still be a girl. I find the nub looks girlish.

You are not a dork! We've pretty much all been there, hence why we're on this site.

Well the general consensus seems to be boy. Guess that means I'll move over to the "gender disappointment" forums. Wah!

So sorry your little surprise wasn't quite what you were expecting. I know that feeling well (my ds1 was a major shocker). But I'll agree that watching a pair of brothers is one of my favorite things to do. :) (My guess is boy too).

I've heard a potty shot is too early at 12 weeks?! So wouldn't go by that. If you click on my nub shot link below I also had a potty shot but not going by that at all.
Your baby's nub to me doesn't scream boy or girl, I see it as a inbetweeny one so I wouldn't lose hope.
I have two sons with just over 2 years between them, their relationship together is lovely. If you are expecting another son you will love watching them play together and being so close.

I know how you feel hun, DS2 was also a major shock. Got accidentally pregnant when DS1 was only 3 months old. The only thing that consoled me was the thought that he was a girl, so I was devastated when we found out he was indeed a he. However now I wouldn't trade him to a million girls, the bond he and my DS1 share is amazing and he really is a special little boy. You still have hope for your little girl though, nub theory isn't 100% :) good luck x

So, everyone on here has been so helpful & supportive, albiet apologtic for guessing "boy" when I want "girl"... But i have new information & I wonder what you all think. I've just begun researching Ramzi method & low and behold I had an ultrasound done at 6 weeks when I had the IUD removed. The trans vaginal ultrasound clearly shows (along with the doctor's drawing on it) baby & placenta on the LEFT SIDE. So, girl???

With a trans vaginal ultrasound the image is reversed so that would put your placenta on the right...

this is what i found consistently when I googled it: trans-vaginal ultrasounds are a straight shot, but the belly ultrasound is a mirror image.
so the belly ultrasound would be reversed.
(not that i'm anywhere near an expert)

Either can be reversed and to know for sure you have to ask your sonographer at the time, which is what I did and even having the exact info, ramzi was wrong. Sorry it's not what you want to hear.

Lol, it's OK. I recognize much of this is just a shot in the dark.... In the dark of my uterus, lol. Thanks for your input. :-)

So i will say im no expert to start off...but from everything I've read, 12 weeks is waaay too early for a potty shot. Boys and girls still look the same that way. Your nub isn't screaming boy to me either, even though there's a slight angle there. Do you know exactly what they said babe was? With that being said these ladies are pretty good at this so maybe they're seeing something I don't. Also, DD #3 was a major surprise and I really wanted her to be a boy BUT now that she's 2 and her sister is 3, I can't imagine it being any other way and I'm grateful I didn't get my way :-)

Neither are reversed, transvaginal or abdominal. That is a common misconception and one Dr Ramzi himself tried to clear up on another forum :) saying that the tech can flip the image at the press of a button so it could have been reversed half way through the scan to get a better image. The only way you can truly know for sure is to ask the tech but even then it can be extremely hard to work out where the placenta is forming without a coloured ultrasound scan that shows blood flow to and from the forming placenta as it is still so small at 6 weeks and barely even visible x
