Hey, I am doing an essay and I cannot find a study (or there was also a good article about the study) which was on my computer yesterday and apparently last night my son closed all my windows and it's gone now and I can't find it again. I just spent 20 minutes that I don't have, looking for this darn thing and I really need it. If anyone knows where it is and can post a link for me I would really appreciate it.

The study was on methods of determining ovulation and it found that temping and cervical mucus were only accurate 30% of the time and the rest of the time, the day people thought they were ovulating was actually wrong.

Hi atomic

Had a quick look online, I have found something, but not sure if it is what you are looking for:

lifeissues.net | Basal Body Temperature Assessment: Is It Useful to Couples Seeking Pregnancy? (http://www.lifeissues.net/writers/feh/feh_23basalbodytemp.html)

If not, hope you find it :)

Looking forward to the study, although its going to scare me. For religious reasons we are only allowed to use NFP for birth control, and that has everything to do with figuring out ovulation!

don't be scared, it's still great for birth control because you avoid intercourse in your fertile window and until you ahve your temp rise. The point of the study is that when people swear on a stack of bibles that they ovulated this day or that day and thus "prove" timing to be true, it's not because people were only right about their O day 30% of the time using temping and symptoms

also shows that OPK much more reliable than temping. i think we need to get away from the idea that temping is mandatoryfor pink sway because it makes people get swaycessed

also note that if you combine temping with monitoring cm then the accuracy goes up

Aww... I must admit I really miss that now that DS is a bit older, I loved it when he used to fall asleep in my arms...well, until I had a dead arm, and couldn't get dishes or washing done while pinned to the sofa lol!...they are so cute when they are sleeping though.

Glad I was able to help :) x

I agree and I savored every second - rarely happens now that she's a bit older and on the go! :(

Here is the original article as well, popped up completely randomly when I was looking for a totally unrelated issue :hair:

great article, and good results on the opks :)
that's so annoying when online searches do that, happens to me all the time too!
but glad it popped up eventually :)

Very interesting to read!

I had two separate +OPK's my BFP cycle that were 3 days apart, but the second one came with a temp shift. I just assumed the first was a fluke but the baby has been measuring right on with the first +OPK. I always assumed it had to be the one that lined up with the temp shift but maybe not after all...

There's really no way to know on that. The prob that I see most of all with temping is that people can and do just occasionally have temps that are a bit higher and lower, so if that happens on the wrong day, it can completely throw you off of what you think is going on, KWIM? like if you slept with your mouth open or shut. But at the same time, we can have false + OPK too.
