I am on CD12 of a usual 26 day cycle (I only have a 10 day LP on a good month) I have OV'd on CD15 the last 2 months (was taking B6 to lengthen LP)
So I am in a panic as when I conceived my son I didn't get a + OPK the whole month but hey presto I had a baby!!!
We are going for abstain (Hubby is at about 3 weeks now and set to burst!) So I know its important to get the timing right but what if I don't get the +?? Shall I just try on CD 14 if I don't have a + by then? Don't want to miss my chance for a whole month. Ive been getting ov pains yesterday and today and had ewcm yesterday but not today (taken antihistamine) xx

First of all, you should not be having your husband abstain that long. No longer than 7-10 days, 14 absolute max.
I think you need to have one attempt now. If you don't, he's just going to have a wet dream anyway. So attempt tonight, keep testing, and the odds ar you will probably get pos OPK within a day or two. But if you don't, that's fine, keep testing and see waht happens. At the least, he won't be utterly miserable and you'll be in this month with a shot of conception. Then, if ovulation is delayed (B6 can do that) and you don't ovulate for another 7 days, you can have another attempt at that point without torturing your poor hubby! :)

oh and to answer the specific q, no, not everyone gets a pos OPK every month. you can certainly ovulate and conceive without ever getting one.

Haha! Thanks. Honestly he's fine, unfortunately he's used to it from our terrible sleeper, we're both always knackered!
I've not taken B6 this month. It actually brought OV forwards a day when I took it last 2 cycles.
I am still undecided, may just wait until tomorrow!! I am off to poas again....xx

my husband would murder me and then explode if he went that long LOL!!! ;)
The B6 can do all kinds of weird stuff, having been on it in the previous month and then dropping it, it can still wreak havoc in its absense just as much in its presence.
Look at it this way - if you attempt before ovulation, at least you are in with a chance, but if you wait too long, the egg will be dead and gone with no hope of conception.

Sorry, couldn't resist a good laugh  when I read this. When I was telling my DH about abstaining he actually said 'well, if you leave me more than 7 days you know the sheets always seduce me'. Boys, boys, boys! :)

Yes, it's possible. It happened to me last month and missed my O day. I dtd like 5 days before (due to a 10 abstinence) and still ended getting a BFN...thanks to all my _ OPK's :(

Okay speaking of OPK I'm wanting to ask do you start testing how long after period? and how many times per day..?

When trying to conceive my second son I could not get a positive opk for the life of me tried different brands times of day etc nothing. Went to my ob who ran some tests and called back saying I had ovulated that month. Low and behold bfp the same month.

I think if you have a standard 28 day cycle, you start testing day 9 until you see a +OPK. You can start once a day (usually late morning) and then as it gets closer to your O day (if it is somewhat consistent), maybe day 13 to O I would test 3x/day. Usually 11 am, 3pm and 6 pm are known for being good testing timeframes (don't ask me why, read it somewhere online :) But it really depends on your cycle.

I honestly can't answer that, we don't know how the B6 sways or how long the effects last.

Jokes aside though, there has been more than one person who had this actually happen to them and were really upset about it!!

Swaying can make stuff cray-cray so I think if you are not used to doing OPK, it can be a good idea to start taking them super early, even CD 8 or like the last day of AF! You are going to get negatives at first, but that's ok. I think it can be good to see a few negatives, at the least you will know what not ovulating looks like. Then I would have you take them 1x a day (and the time of day depends on what the directions on your OPK say - some require testing at a particular time of day so I cannot give a blanket recommendation there) . If your tests start getting darker, you can increase to 2x a day. Some people like to test wtih a smiley test after getting what appears to be a pos on the cheapies, just for confirmation
If you are on Clomid tho you need to wait till after your Clomid is out of your system.

Well I got a darker negative so we went for it. Still too light to be classed as a positive but its done now, will keep testing to see if it does go dark but I BBT anyway so hopefully that will match.
Not going to lime douche again next cycle (I assume this one will result in a bfn and af) Its v messy and annoying. Will stick to rephresh x
