lol - I can't believe I just wrote that. But I'm curious. I have read and read and see that TTC pink, you WANT creamy CM, not EWCM. So what dries it up, changes its composition, besides the antihistamines? Is it the diet, the supplements, etc? Mine definitely changes post Ovulation but I don't notice any difference from post AF to O... so think I must be doing something wrong. Anyone know? Sorry - I feel like this is a dumb question and I should know the answer from the research!

No, there are no dumb questions, only things that haven't been explained well enough.

Honestly, we don't totally KNOW why CM goes from EW to creamy. Different levels of hormones and different levels of hydration cause different types of mucus to be produced.

It is likely though not yet proven that changes in diet cause you to produce less/different mucus, and that this less/different mucus is what sways and also makes it more difficult for you to get pregnant sometimes. This is because your body wants to maximize chances both for your survival and that of your baby, so if your body thinks that you aren't in the greatest health or that food is scarce, it may dial it back on the CM in an effort to reduce your odds of pregnancy, before it stops ovulation all together. This process may also result in making you more likely to conceive a baby of a particular gender (PINK!!)

thanks for explaining to me - very nice to get a response! I did notice, after I posted that, that I did have creamy Cm this cycle, before it moved to EW (well very clear but not stretchy). So that would be a good time to BD, when it's creamy, before it moves to clear (if you are going for cut-off)?

I found your 3 Fertility Signals post which was hugely interesting and helpful and informative - far better than some of the other stuff out there on various websites. So thanks for all of that info!

That is quite normal. CM tends to go from creamy to EWCM and then back again every month.

IF (and that's a big if) you have the exact same pattern of EWCM every month then yes, you could DTD when you have creamy CM. The problem is that when we sway, and oftentimes even when we don't, our patterns of CM vary from month to month depending on various factors, so we can't just go off of what happened in previous months.

That's why I suggest using antihistamines to help dry up your CM and also sticking to diet, rather than relying on timing.
