View Full Version : Anxiety.....Is this baby REALLY a GIRL?!?!?!

Ok I know I am probably being extremely irrational but maybe it is because I am about to give birth to my 4th and final baby in just 5 DAYS!!!!! I have the Nursery ready and all the clothes washed and ready, I've had a baby shower, and I have given away ALL my baby boy clothes. I am completely ready for my sweet baby girl to enter into this world and join her 3 older brothers in our family!!! The problem is I feel my anxiety taking over, I feel so scared that I have believed these scans 100% and haven't even held back a little bit just in case she is actually a HE!! What will I do if the doc says "its a BOY" when the baby is born? I don't want to be heart broken, I am worried all the excitement of getting ready for a my baby girl made me forget that I was first told this baby is a BOY, so there might still be a chance they were right with the first scan right???

I know I am probably freaking out over nothing but the anxiety and fear is starting to take over the excitement I should be feeling (it doesn't help that I am on complete bed rest, so I have a lot of time to read horror stories about scans that have been wrong). Please take a look at my scans and let me know if you see anything that could make you think boy!!!

Here is my 21 week scan with a collage of different shots. The one that says "I'm A Girl" makes me a little worried, it looks a little busy there, and the one in the upper left corner worries there may be a tiny tiny tiny penis sticking out (the middle of the 3 lines).

I have had 2 scans since the 21 week scans and both times I was told girl, but because I was first told boy and because I already have 3 boys I'm really struggling to believe this is truly a girl and I don't want to be full of anxiety and fear during the birth!!!!

I had my doubts about your first scan at the the time Thorz - I didn't think it looked that boyish to me but since I tend to trust the techs, I didn't say anything at the time. your other scans are classic girl.

Just to put your mind at ease, I had the greatest sense of calm when I was in labor. I didn't worry at all that she might be a he and in fact I honestly forgot about gender all together when the baby was born. The nurse said, "Yes it's still a girl" and I had honestly forgot the entire business even mattered.

That is 100% your little girl. Your first scan doesn't look boy at all to me. Congrats and I hope you have a safe and healthy birth. :)

Thanks Ladies, I know deep down I am being completely irrational, I just don't know how to be at ease about this. I guess I wont completely believe I have a daughter until she is sleeping in my arms.......5 more days!!!

Girl, girl, girl!!

And I had a similar experience as atomic. I was just as worried as you, even though tons of scans (about 8 total) said girl. I worried right up on about how I'd feel about a surprise boy, etc. But during labor/delivery, I also forgot about it entirely. Baby came out and I was crying and talking and letting them suction her and wipe her off. And a good solid five minutes passed and suddenly, as I am nursing her, I say WAIT...did she come out a girl? Everyone laughed (since most of them saw her parts, but she had a super short cord, so I didn't). My mom was like "yes dear, she is a girl."

So exciting that you get to meet her so soon!! Lots of luck :)
