OK so now that we are actually TTC this month I am more concerned about my spotting issue so wanted to see what others have experienced. I have a regular 27/28 day cycle, with O normally occuring on CD14, but I do spot anywhere from 1-3 days prior to AF. I didn't have any spotting before this whole boy-sway thing.

It was suggested to me that maybe it is just the fish oil acting as a blood thinner.

Has anyone else had spotting and had their prog checked and it come back normal? Or is spotting ALWAYS a sign of low-pro? Anyone spot pre-AF and still get pg and have a healthy one?

Thanks ladies!

I've spotted from my very 1st cycle til now.
I also have regular cycles, 25/26 days and I spot 4-5 days prior to af.

I've never checked my prog levels.

Only time I didn't spot is when I was pg, so 3 times: 1st ended in m/c in 11th week, 2nd ( with DD1) I was on Utrogestan (prog pills) from 6th week til 12 week, 3rd ( with DD2) my gyn for some reasons didn't give me prog pills and everything was fine til the 10 week when I had severe bleeding, I thought it was m/c, went straight to the hospital and they saw heart beat :awe: so they put me on prog injections twice a day, and was in the hospital for a week and after I was out I was on prog pills 3 times a day for 10 more days.

You know, I'm always wondering, if I was on prog, maybe I would have my twins back in 2001

Now encouraging part: there was a lady on IG with the exact same cycle like mine and spotting 4-5 days and she had 2 boys wo-hooo!!! and was swaying for pink. We were both thrilled we've found each other - that meant our dream was possible!!!!

I should check my prog levels but it's expensive....anyway, when I get pg I will ask immediately for some prog since my gyn knows my history.

Thanks ZB! I am SO happy you got the prog you needed to sustain your pg's with your DD's!

I've read the prog thread I was just hoping that maybe some gals had experiences they could share. I've read a ton about it online and it seems there are lots of women who have gotten pg with spotting pre-AF. I've got a call in to my doc's office to get their thoughts. Since mine didn't start til this boy-sway thing I do wonder if it is the fish oil acting as a blood thinner? I think I might quit taking it this cycle and see if that helps at all.

Well this makes me feel better, like maybe it isn't a "bad" sign. From http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/549511_2

In any reproductive-aged woman, a few days of premenstrual spotting, if it is contiguous with the period, can be a normal variant, but the total duration should be less than 8 days.[43]

There are def. a ton of women who spot before O. Thanks for posting that link, very helpful!! As long as it is just a day or 2, you can totally still get pregnant that way. People get pg every day with LP of 10-12 days, it's not ideal obviously but it is totally possible.

The other thing to consider is the theory that lower prog = more boys...now, I'm not totally sure I believe that or not but it could be the case that if your body is more boy friendly, your prog has dropped and you are having a shorter LP.

Thanks for chiming in Atomic; I appreciate you so very much! I decided to stop fish oil for the next 3 weeks to see if it helps, but I also added in a prenatal + DHA. So we shall see what happens!
