I just wondered if there were many ladies here, who's husbands took Liquorice Root but were older than 35
The swaying statistics spreadsheet has such good results from LR but it doesnt show DH age, I just wondered if many of you used it with older partners.
My DH is 36 we've concieved 5 boys so far, so i'd be worried to exclude it, i'm thinking if Maybe we dont abstain but perhaps do CFR or something, or maybe do one dose of LR or just two rather than the recommended three.

Hi
Yes my husband is 40 and took liquorice root every other day, not sure of the dosage. I don't think he took it for the whole cycle either. He was pretty bad at remembering to take it. We have two boys and are expecting a baby girl in february.

Many have done, I will occasionally use the LR for guys up to 40 if they seem in good health and have no family history of health problems.
The reason I do not recommend it for you guys is because of the history of issues with the pg. I think you need to have healthy sperm meet healthy egg.

.....oh, that would make perfect sense. i guess i am really hoping my sway will work and get me my girl, as i have a lot of faith in the fact that a girl wont have the same genetic problems my sons have suffered.
DH did take LR when we concieved our first son with the condition..., I hope that wouldnt of been why? :worry::worry:

I seriously doubt it but I personally like to err on the side of absolute caution.
You can see from what you wrote right here that the LR is not any sort of magic bullet.

You guys need to be VERY careful about reading too much into the stats we keep on this site.
Those are not "blind, side by side, controlled variable" studies. They are people who were doing a lot of other things to sway, and a lot of times when people are doing a more relaxed sway, they tend to leave stuff out. All the stats tell us is, yes, people are getting girls while taking LR, and people are also getting girls while NOT taking LR. It is nothing magic at all.

thanks, i bet your fed up of saying there's no magic bullet!! i guess i just dont want to go through anything i have previously & am convinced if i concieve a daughter there will be no chance of that, obviously a healthy baby is more important than anything to me, given what i've been through, so LR is probably best left out.
i'm still learning... and grateful for your advice

pinkplspls - we stopped all supplements the cycle we conceived and hadn't done the diet in the 3 weeks leading up either as we were on holiday. I ate so much meat, breakfast everyday, drank etc etc that I really thought there was no way we would be having a girl - but we are. So I think you really shouldn't worry too much about the LR

thank u two, there are so many lucky ladies who get pink bundles without swaying though arnt there! i just worry for myself because we've concieved so many boys. i feel like it must be DH, even though this website & IG are proof the women can sway it a little.
I'm such a super stress head... i dont suppose that helps!

Have you read the maternal dominance essays? They totally resonated with me because I always stress & micromanage EVERYTHING.
My one DD we did not take anything. Looking back I was somewhat swaying without knowing. I had just come off of BCP, been strict dieting for awhile before BFP(very low cal/nutrient but high protein) Lots of Aspartame & 1 attempt. We were not trying she was a surprise I also had a cyst rupture & had surgery for that. Now I can't replicate(nor do I want to) the cyst part but in hindsight a lot of what I was doing I believe played a big part in my DD. One of the most important parts I think was for the first time in my life I had zero stress. My parents were taking care of me & DS1 after the surgery all I had to do was chill & get better & I think that was a huge part for me.
Sorry to ramble point being there is hope & those essays are awesome. Whenever I start to stress(yeah mostly all the time) I remind myself my next child does not want a Jeannie for a mom! LOL

your body takes a while to change things. People have a misconception that if you weren't doing something perfect on the day/week of ovulation, your sway cannot work but that's just not the case. If your body has gotten a signal that times were hard and you might not have enough food for a boy to grow up big and strong, then it's going to "want" to conceive a girl, and a few weeks of more normal eating is not going to immediately undo that.
