View Full Version : RepHresh timing question :)

Hi all! I started to TTC pink last month (no Sept success) and this is my first post on here.

I am a pretty lax swayer, doing a loose version of the LE diet, taking cranberry and folic acid, not eating before noon, drinking peppermint tea, drinking aspartame laden beverages. I haven't told DH I'm doing any sort of sway - he will think I'm crazy and not want to participate, so I'm just avoiding the conversation altogether.

This question is specifically about RepHresh. DH loves to TTC, ifyouknowwhatImean. We started TTC last month and only had 2 attempts that could have resulted in pregnancy due to possible O timing (I got two positive OPKs about 7 days apart). Fertility Friend says I have irregular cycles, with ovulation being any day between CD 14 and 23. I think I used rephresh too close to my attempt (1/2 applicator 8 hours prior to the attempts close to each possible O) and possibly didn't get pregnant because of that (I got pregnant really easily the first two times, first month trying each time).

So, with that being said, and knowing that we'll likely DTD every day during my possible fertile period this month (we want to get pregnant quickly and would still be very happy with a boy), what would the best approach be towards RepHresh? Especially considering I don't know when I will O? I was thinking just going along and doing it every 3rd day. Does that still give me a good chance of getting knocked up? Or will RepHresh inhibit that? TIA!!!

Well...while that is def. the closest I'd ever want to see anyone use RepHresh, I do want to mention that even if you've gotten pg the first month out, it takes fully fertile couples doing nothign to sway, an average of 3-6 months to get pg so it may just not have been your month.

My recommendation is using RepHresh every 3 days and then trying to time the last batch to be 8, 12, or 24 hours before attempt. If you're DTD a lot in your fertile window, you ~may~ want to push it a little on the closer side, if you're not DTD that much or just once, push it further and you can even drop it, as in, you can only attempt 2-3 days before you expect to ovulate

I'm not pregnant again this month. We had sex *almost* every day during my fertile window. However, I got my opk on Sunday + both AM and PM, but we were only able to bd at noon and not again in the fertile window. I did use rePhresh Sunday morning at 6am (1/2 applicator) because I expected to BD that night though we weren't able to, so that could have been the issue.

I do realize that it takes healthy couples several months to get pg, but I can't help but feel like my pink sway is a little too much for my dh and I to conceive easily (as I mentioned, it only took us one month two times prior). I am tempted to stop the RePhresh altogether, but I have almost an entire box leftover and that sh*t is $$! I also have Sylk for this month (things got a bit dry down there with the antihistamines + diet + lots of bd), but I'm torn on whether or not to use it since their website does say that it's hostile to sperm and I feel like I have minimal CM to allow ANY sperm to thrive for any amount of time. Just a side note, rePhresh's website says that it doesn't affect sperm motility, so that's something I'm also weighing.

I admit I'm torn! Maybe I'll give it one more month (what are your thoughts on rePhresh vs Sylk at this point?) and if I don't get pg this month, I'll drop one thing at a time? Is it a bad idea to add Sylk into a sway that is already possibly a little too acidic or might I be overreacting? Do you think the rePhresh is stopping me from getting pg? Or do you think it was a matter of timing perhaps? I know these things are hard, if not impossible, to really venture a good guess at. Honestly, the diet is so hard for me (I love veggies/breakfast and hate aspartame!) that it's making me want to be pregnant even more quickly just so I can stop it!

I appreciate any input!

Well, their website says that I know but our experiences tell the tale, it's proven difficult for peeps to get preggo while using the RepHresh.

The thing iwth the Sylk vs. RepHresh is that the RepHresh can actually make things a little shall we say...gummy...and aggravate the situation, increasing the need for the Sylk. It may be just what the dr. ordered to drop the RepH. and keep the Sylk. (this is one of those things wehre you really have to be the decisionmaker even if it entails flipping a coin, because I honestly do not know what is best here)

Rephresh can actually be used for other stuff like YI or after AF just for general purposes so while I know it's a pretty penny, even if you don't use it for swaying, you can console yourself with the option of using it for other things at some point

All that having been said, getting pg the first month of trying is really the exception and not the rule, so please try not to worry too much that it's taking too long.

Drop the aspartame if it's making you miserable, i really don't think it does a whole lot and I got my girl without it after getting my 4th boy with it!

Automic can i ask another question on Aspartame.
I had it in my sway with my twin sons, not massively but i had definitely switched as per IG rules.
(i was also drinking tons of cranberry & taking vit b6)
do you think i should drop the aspartame this time? or limit it? while i am enjoying the 2 or 3 cans of diet coke each day (helping me to feel fuller when i get hunger pangs) i'm adding in more coffee just for the aspartame?
should i just have the one cuppa first thing that i enjoy but with sugar? or would that ruin my no breakfast rule, because a large serving of sugar will affect my blood sugar levels in the morning?

will my baby aspirin do enough to alter PH without me worrying aspartame..

I think everyone should limit it. I don't buy the "aspartame is dangerous" stuff but it seems to me that we just need to keep it sane, because i saw people doing scary amounts of aspartame (which, anything in hugely high amounts is not gonna be great for you, even things like sugar are bad in large doses) on IG and getting boys anyway so it is clearly in no way a magic bullet for pink.

I don't think your pH really truly changes from any of this stuff. I have my own thinking on what is going on but I have seen NO reliable data that it's doing anything to pH whatsoever.

Just wanted to update this thread - I dropped the rePhresh and got pg this month (about 5wks along, hoping it sticks!). I followed your advice, Automic, and dropped the rePhresh and went with sylk instead. It made the most sense and I was comfortable with it. I will report back when we find out the sex!
