So my attempt is finally in the near future, but I have a question I was hoping you all could help me with. Been on BCP FOREVER & plan on stopping with my next AF which is due on 10/21. I have no idea what my cycle is going to do because its never been completely "normal" to begin with.
Even on the pill a lot of my cycles have been a bit crazy. Fertility friend shows fertile days for me from 10/28-10/30 with O possible anytime 31st-2nd. So here is my question how long before O do you generally get that first positive OPK? I know it can vary for everyone but would love to have some sort of idea. Any info would be great! Thanks a bunch!

Hi! I believe I ovulate no later than 24 hours after first positive OPK. I tracked for 2 months. I would use regular OPK's about 4 days before I expected to ovulate, once a day around 2pm. Then as the line started to get darker, about 2days before I expected to ovulate I did them twice a day and also backed up with a Clearblue digital. So I would do both at 11am and then again at 4pm. Last month I had a negative digital OPK at 4pm but my regular OPK looked positive so I decided to test again with the digital that night at 8pm and it was positive. I tested 3 times that day. That is why I would suggest using both the regular and digital together. I got my first positive digital OPK at 8pm, the following day I got positive digital and regular OPKs throughout the day. Also had bad ovulation cramps all day. The day after that I tested at 11am and both OPK's were negative. So I believe I ovulated the next day, at some point, after my first surge was detetced. I would guess no more than 24 hours later. Sorry for rambling! Hope this helps!

You will ovulate anywhere from 12 to 48 hours after you get your first positive OPK. Postives after the first don't matter. The average is 24 hours, but it is a range. This is because when you get your positive, you could be on the "up" side of the LH surge or on the "down" side.
