My husband and I have two boys and are really wanting to add a little lady to your family. I was just curious if there is anyone out there that has all boys on their husband's side of the family and conceived a little girl. My FIL is very sure that my husband's family does not make girls at all. The last time he mentioned it struck a nerve so I thought I would ask to see if anyone has defied the odds. :) I am really hoping to.

My husband's side is all boys and his brother has a little boy and a little girl. As far as I know his wife wasn't swaying either. Hope that helps!

My husband's grandfather came from a family of 9 boys, no girls. He (husband's grandfather) had two girls and a boy!

It's totally untrue. There are tons of people who will tell you this but it IS IMPOSSIBLE biologically because men are made entirely of XY cells and those cells divide and make half X and half Y.
It also is impossible genetically because there is NEVER any gene that gets handed down 100% of the time and so every woman that married into the family would have to have identical "all boy" genes (which don't exist) for a family to "make only boys". Plus, it's been proven with genetic research that of all the men that ever lived, only 40% of them had offspring, whereas 80% of all women who ahve ever lived had offspring, so genes that "only make boys" would be at a huge disadvantage and never would have lived to be handed down to future generations.
And, it is also impossible from a historical perspective because if "all boy" genes really did exist, the first time there was a war or Genghis Khan came into town and killed off all the males (which has happened more times than it's possible to count over the course of human history) the people who had these "all boy" genes would have totally died out.
My MIL always liked to tell me about how "the family only makes boys" because my husband's grandpa was one of three brothers and those three brothers also had almost all sons - but then the next generation, my husband's and his cousins, all were BG pairs, and then all the cousins also had both boys and girls. We were the only ones who had boys. So I think people have a selective memory where these things are concerned - they forget Cousin Bob who had girls and they are only looking at 2 or 3 generations anyway...anyone who's ever tossed a few coins will verify that there are sometimes runs of heads or tails, it never goes h,t,h,t,h,t and so on.
Michelle Duggar had a long run of boys more kids than most of us and our parents combined - but then she turned right around and had a long run of girls, and she started off having a long run of 50-50. It only LOOKS like a trend, but it's a trick of the eye, it doesn't mean anything, and yes, you can have a girl, we all can.

Thank you so much ladies. All of your comments make me feel so much better. The reassurance is what I needed to get it back in my head "I CAN DO THIS!"
