Hi Atomic, sorry for late reply - I actually ended up having very early MC last week and would now like to try again in Nov so only have under 2 weeks to prepare to conceive a girl. What are some things that I can do - I am over 40 so I don't want to wait until I have been on diet for months so anything that will help within a short time would be great i.e any supps/meds/douche/ion bracelet etc. Will try and post question on another section too in case you don't see this one. also, is there somewhere on this site that I can read about how to conceive a girl? I looked on TTC girl but I couldn't find much. Thank you so much :)

In my signature below there is a link to the complete index (it't not clickable, you need to cut and paste it into your browser bar).
I think that coming off a miscarriage does sway pink so that may help. I would not do anything with douches or jellies if you are over 40 and none of the supps are fast acting like that. I think your best bet is doing one attempt. That is what worked for me at 41, I was on diet for a while, had been on vitex but dropped it, and then we had one attempt at pos OPK and got our girl. We did not do anything more than that, my husband occasionally smoked a pipe but it was like 1-2 times a week.

Thank you so much atomic - I will read it all as soon as my little boy is sleeping tonight. I have also read a lot about clomid - I have some clomid at home but am unsure if I should use it as I am ovulating on my own and have read about increased cancer associated with it. I used it for 4 cycles last year but this year I seem to be ovulating every month on my own - does an antihistamine do the same thing?
Thanks again :)

Thanks Mom22many - sorry of your loss also, especially on your 40th birthday - I had another m/c in July also and that was a week before my 40th so I know what yr going through - I attempted the month after. good luck x

I answered this in another thread, but no antihistamine and Clomid are not the same.
Increased risk of cancer with clomid is only for people who take it for a very long time, like people who use it to conceive several children (and even then it's only a slight risk). You do need to be wary about it tho becuase if your FSH is high, Clomid can make that worse

Thanks Atomic - how do you get the time to answer to all these threads and questions - you really are amazing.
Very torn about trying this month using one attempt - I got positive OPK today but not able to try until late tomorrow night - hope that is still ok? Or weather to wait until next month and try small dose of clomid for 5 days as I still have some from last year - I am a bit concerned about messing too much with the universe's plans too. I spoke with my hormone doc yesterday and mentioned the clomid - she isn't a fan of it - said I have low oestrogen in follicular phase and high oestrogen in luteul phase - she said that clomid or other products that can spike oestrogen can be dangerous in someone with this type of make up as it can take the wrong "pathways" and trigger reproductive cancer cells at anytime - so a bit worried about that too. She gave me false unicorn root to take as she said it has similar affect? Not sure what to do

I would try to get an attempt in as soon as you possibly can, even if it means getting up at 2am in order to do it.
Your doctor is right in that Clomid would not be good for someone who already has low estrogen in the FP.
My response about Clomid and cancer was not so much meant for you (because I never recommend Clomid for people over 40 anyway because it can raise FSH), as the others who might have read this thread and were then worried that Clomid could cause cancer. I understand what the mechanism for the estrogen spike possibly contributing to estrogen-fueled cancers but I do not believe that this is a factor for people who only use it in the short term. I would NEVER EVER EVER EVER to infinity and beyond recommend anything for any of you guys that I felt was in any way dangerous.
To my mind, Clomid has been used by millions of women for the better part of 50 years and has been studied within an inch of its life, and ~I personally~ feel to make a claim that an herb which has really not been studied/used to anywhere near that level, is somehow safer, ~I personally~ feel is an unsubstanitated claim without the data to back it up. FUR is also endangered in the wild (thus I never recommend it for anyone) and much of what is sold as FUR is not. I'm not mentioning this to discourage you or anyone else from using it, just so people know what my thinking is.
