I was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes this morning. I failed the 1 hour test at a 147 (normal is 130) and then I failed the 3 hour test in the 200's. I am being sent to a peri and nutritionist on Monday but am a little confused on what to do until then in regards to food. Of course my baby shower is tomorrow so I know I can NOT eat sweets but other than that I am really unclear as to what is safe or things that I should avoid besides sugar.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I got gestational diabetes with my 3rd dd, I also was confused but they sent me to a nutritionist who explained what foods to avoid & what foods are ok to eat, Ive never had to watch what I was eating so I really hated this part, but what I found worked for me was adding extra protein in my diet this helped a great deal with lowering sugar levels, especially having a protein shake before going to bed, I found this reduced my morning sugar level readings alot.
All the best

I tried yesterday to find that FB post I had read like 5 months ago....lol, good luck in locating it! But I did notice that each of the posts I did find mentioned protein and smaller meals. I wish you the best....grow that baby, just not too big!!!!
