atomic thanks for your info - still reading through it. I have also read a lot about clomid - I have some clomid at home but am unsure if I should use it as I am ovulating on my own and have read about increased cancer associated with it. I used it for 4 cycles last year but this year I seem to be ovulating every month on my own - does an antihistamine do the same thing? I am also too late into my cycle this month to use it. Hope you remember me from our conversation last week - I am 40, had recent early m/c running out of time to TTC girl and looking for quick solution to try next week.
Thanks again
p.s let me know if I am posting questions in right area - I find computers a bit confusing so sorry if I haven't posted in correct section

The Clomid-cancer risk is only for people who have to take it for many months, like people who legitimately needed it to conceive several children, or back in the day they used to let people take it for longer than 6 months at a time. if you use the Clomid as it is meant to be used, it's fine and doesn't raise risks of cancer.
The real problem for you and Clomid is that women over 40 don't always have good results with it and unless you know your FSH is ok, I would prob. not take it if you're ovulating regularly. Clomid can raise FSH levels and send egg quality down.
No, antihistamine does not do the same thing as Clomid. The antihistamine does dry up CM, but Clomid actually does that via hormones rather than just removing liquid from mucus and those changes seem to sway much more consistently than the antihistamine does.
What you can do for next week is just do one cetirizine antihistamine 6 hours befor your attempt. At 40, you will have lower quality CM anyway and I don't think you should do the 5 day antihistamine.
Yes, you're posting your q's in the right spot, some days I have more time than others for questions and the last week has been a bit hectic.
