...which supps should be wean of slowly?
Fish Oil, vit E, Zinc? Or I can stop immediately? Green Tea, RJ/BP? CoQ-10?
Also CoQ-10, only af->O or all the time?
I think RJ/BP should be safe throughout the whole pg.

I understand I should continue w/FA and Prenatals :agree:

Almost all vitamins, minerals, supplements, and herbs should be stopped slowly... to lessen the risk of m/c. Anything that is done suddenly will shock your body and could cause a m/c.

If you start prenatals then some of the other vitamins can be stopped if it is in the prenatals... like vitamin E, A, C and so on.

Some fish oils and other oil type vitamins can be continued with a pregnancy but confirm the amount with your OB Dr or midwife. (I took 250mg of organic fish oil with both my pregnancies)

Thank you guys!
One of the reasons I'm asking this is bcos all these supps are expensive and I can't wait to stop spending money on supps and start buying some baby clothes I'm gonna need! :p

Stop the green tea right away. Everything else is safe to continue for a bit and then just gradually wean yourself off once you get a BFP. (I am a fan of weaning gradually off everything.)

Coq10 is safe throughout the month and into pregnancy although I would wean myself off once I got a BFP just because there is not enough info. It is actually the same type of "coenzyme" vitamin as folic, b6, b12 are and they are all safe during pregnancy.

The RJ/BP is open for debate because some people think you may make a baby more likely to have bee allergies if you use it during your whole pregnancy. I don't know if it's true or not, just letting you know.

Thanks Atomic!

Green tea should be stopped right away because of spina bifida? Dang, it's one of the few things I can afford without problems

Dang, it's one of the few things I can afford without problems :rofl:Atomic, I've just started drinking matcha the strongest version of green tea, now I'm quite worried. I did a quick hunt around and found the articles about the spina bifida connection due to the ECGC in the tea stopping FA absorbtion. I'm quite worried about continuing the matcha. Does the developing egg (before ovulation) require fa?? I am taking about 1200mg a day as I'm holding off ttc til after the summer.

I also keep the fish oil up while PG but agree with the other ladies on stopping the supps over a couple of weeks!

My DS 3 has spina bifida and I was taking 800 mg of FA and only drinking 2 of the Lipton Green Teas a day. His is very mild, causes no problems so far, and we were incredibly lucky. It may have been totally unrelated to the green tea but I just don't want anyone to have an unhappy ending to their story. The amount of green tea that some blue swayers drink/take in supp form is much greater than the amount I was taking.

I would take 2000 mcg (that's mcg MICROgrams not mg MILLIgrams) at the least. I do think the egg may require the FA as it develops although this has not been proven. I took 4000 when I TTC DS 4, both several months before I got pg and all during the first trimester as well, but they advise that for women who had a baby with a neural tube defect like I did.
