Can this procedure be used for PGD or for gender family balancing?

Dear bows&ribbons,
Micro-IVF is like regular IVF except the ovarian stimulation is much less, so the target for retrieved eggs might be 4, instead of 12. So if you have embryos on day 3 and blasts on day 5, you can do PGD for gender balancing but with the attrition rate at each stage of first fertilization, then embryo development, you simply might not have the embryos of the gender you desire at the end, if you have any embryos at all. I talk about the attrition rate that is typical with IVF in my egg-count mathematics post at http://fertilitylabinsider.com/?s=egg+count+mathematics So, yes, you can do it, but the odds for success are less with fewer eggs and then embryos to work with. In most cases, the expected pregnancy rate for micro-IVF is less than regular IVF. Hope this helps. :) Carole
