View Full Version : More worried about dissapointing family and friends than actually having another boy!

My official "gender ultrasound" will be tomorrow (exactly 17 hours from now). I had one at 17 weeks and I was SURE I saw a penis on the profile view. The tech said "that would be the cord," but he knows that I am desperate for a girl and I think he might have been trying to leave me with some hope. Either way, my mind and body is pretty sure it is a boy (that would be why my signature already says I'm having a boy).
The thing is, I'm okay with having another boy. I swayed, prayed, and did everything I could to conceive a girl. I have come to terms with the thought of another boy and even bought some clothes. My family and friends do not know I think/"know" it's a boy. They constantly say "I hope you get your girl so your family can be complete." They know this is my last baby. When I hear "complete" it makes me think that my family will be missing something. To me not having a girl isn't missing anything. Yet, I feel TERRIFIED of my ultrasound. I know they will say "it's a boy" and I will have to go home and announce it that night. I don't want to see the looks on their faces or the "I'm so sorry" crap that they said with my second son.
Does any one have any ideas on how to announce it in a creative or cute way that will possibly prevent the stupid comments? I swear my GD is only because of these people. If no one else had to know and make stupid comments I would be fine!

I completely understand. If it just wasn't for others, how different could things be. I bet this site would be 80% less full. My advice? If your family will be gathered somewhere, walk in carrying a HUGE bouquet of blue balloons and a massive smile on your face - it's 'my three sons'! :) And then skype or FaceTime anyone who can't be there so they can see the party going on. Even say 'our family is complete'! And give a funny look quickly to anyone who says something different. This is your beautiful baby - be it a he or a she - and you deserve a celebration!!!

I totally agree with you when it comes to people, I felt the same way, but surprisingly in my case it wasn't that bad, sometimes when you think the worst you can be pleasantly surprised!
All the very best with tomorrow & regardless of gender only you can make your family feel complete, my desire for a boy will probably never leave me but Im not going to try and have one, because I feel my family is complete, I never wanted more then 3 children & if Ive been given 3 girls so be it, hope you can understand what Im saying.
You might be worrying for nothing because you probably have a little wee lady in there anyway!

I most def understand where you are coming from with having to face the comments of other people. I can tell you my gd would not be near as bad if it wasnt for Them!

I love the idea of the balloons and bouquet! That's very cool. I hope it goes well, no matter which way it goes. I agree that family and friends make GD worse, pinning their desires and wishes onto you. Good luck!

I had a girlfriend, who put up on her facebook page:
"Turns out SOMEONE out there thinks I'm a pretty good boy mom :)"
I loved it.

The reveal actually went really well. I only got one negative comment, but it didn't really bother me since everyone else seemed really happy for me. :)

I know what you mean about everyone else, it's like people think youve only had a third to get a different gender, therefore youll be disappointed if its not. Ive told anyone who asks that although it would be nice to have a boy, id also love 3 girls, but im not sure they believed me!! Which makes it worse!
Im sorry its not the girl youd hoped for but massive congrats on your healthy baby boy, he's going to bring so much joy to your family :)

Thanks everyone! I already went out and bought him an adorable blue tiger striped take home outfit. It comes with booties and a hat that have little tiger faces on them. So cute!

Congratulations!! You will always be able to say to your son that You Knew It Was Him All Along - and you truly did. How amazing and breathtaking. Enjoy this time, lucky mama!
