Im going to be ttc a girl and am trying to get my plan together.
I am having a hard time with the foods and know im going to miss my fav meals :nails:
So just to help me out a little, i am curious to what meals or foods you are going to miss the most so it may help me out with other ideas. I feel im gonna just live on chicken and pasta salad! lol, so please it would be much appreciated if you could share with me some of your favourite, easy, meals that you are going to have to give up in order to get you boy.
I am more than happy to give you some of my boy meals.
Im not that creative when it comes to meals and new ingredients that i dont use much of hence the reason im kinda stuck!
So anything would be very much appreciated
Thanks

LOL! I was thinking the only thing I miss is sugar, and it looks like so many of us are feeling that way! I miss brownies and cupcakes and ice cream.
I did miss diet sodas at first but I've always wanted to kick that habit and I finally have. I'm super happy to drink mostly water now.
I'm sorry Kiesse b/c I bet you were hoping for actual meals... I will try to think if there is anything I miss that was an actual meal. But in all honestly I would have eaten cupcakes for lunch back when I got pg with my girls. I ate a ton of refined carbs and have been avoiding that while TTC boy.

I'm still eating junk food, sugar, chocolate, ice cream and soft drink....if i end up with a girl i only have myself to blame!
I just got so sick of the same old foods so i was skipping meals cos i didn't feel like eating them and that isn't good on the boy diet, so now i pretty much eat anything i want, just limit my dairy.

There are other factors involved aswell, DH smoking being a big one I think but, but the sweet and stodge diet was me to a T:)

lol, the things we do for our future children! see i am finding it so hard being on the girl diet where as i love my boy diet, maybe a few of us should just move in together and ill cook all the meals for the ones wanting boys and the other ladies can cook the meals for us wanting girls! that way we just eat what is served! hehe, I love my bread, mashed taties and red mead, lots of beef, like mice and sausages, only have chicken prob once or twice a fortnight! just so many easy meals with mince and sausages and coz my kids are only 5 and 3 and i work full time its just so much easier to slap it all togther and have it on the table within 30 mins! I just have no idea when it comes to what you guys eat, i never eat breakfast anyway, but usually have a snack at about 10.30am, so what would you recommend, i am at work, so maybe some fruit or yoghurt??? then i eat dinner about 5 with the kids but want something they will eat. Arrrgghhh this is so confusing!

i havent started the diet yet as im losing weight still and TTC in oct. but ill be starting in mid july..SCARED/NERVOUS!!!
i will surely miss: CHEESE, CHOC (sugars), ice cream, turkey and turkey sandwiches (LOVE MY SANDWICHES), chicken (big chicken eater, with beef usually 3 times a week), carbs (breads, pastas..but since on my losiing weight diet, ive become accustomed to not eating asmany refined carbs), coffee and sugar and cream in my coffee. those are the big things.
i agree, maybe we can cook for one another and make it simpler..hey that could be a new career for someone!!! personal gender swaying chef.

Protein + carbs = boys! A LOT of girl moms are total carb junkies but they eat mostly JUST carbs without much protein and fat - a lot of lowfat diet type products, refined carbs, and sweets.

AT work I would def. do a sugar free yogurt or two and/or fruit like strawberries or apple. Another option is a small amount of homemade hummus or aubergine/eggplant dip (do not salt it or add garlic) with cucumbers or a salad with fatfree dressing.

Grazing is great for boys! :agree: As is lots of fruit and veg. I would love to see you get some more healthy fats though - I hope you're including a fish oil and/or flaxseed supp and maybe an avocado 2 or 3 times a week, with olive oil for cooking.
The easiest rule to remember for boys is that protein + carbs with healthy fats = boys while a carb-heavy, low protein, lowfat diet = girls.

You CAN eat turkey and chicken, at least on the High-Everything diet, it's still protein and your body uses it to make muscle. I promise that I ate tons of turkey and chicken when I TTC my guys.

I find myself eating a lot of sweet/diet type products in trying to stay within the low-everything diet limits - Weight Watchers cakes, meringue nests etc. Of course they're full of sugar. Is this ok? I've been meaning to ask.

Yes, that's fine. I would try to stay away from choc for the most part and watch the sodium in the cakes, but sweets are a good source of empty calories for those who are having trouble getting enough calories without going over their protein.

The only chocolate I've had has been white and I'm sticking to the sodium limits each day. I've never, ever had a sweet tooth - getting to quite like it now though! It's all empty calories I think!

Atomic - I just read some information which said that too much sugar raises oestrogen. Do you have any thoughts on this? Lots of 'diet' foods which are otherwise low in calories, protein and salt are sugary. How much is too much and how important is this?
Thank you x

Yes, it is possible but if you're eating 1500-1800 calories a day on 2-3 meals, with fresh fruit and vegetables, and are either not gaining or else losing weight don't worry about this.
There are some overweight people like my MIL who eat nothing but sugar and simple carbs all day long, every hour or two she snacks on something sugary. She eats toast with jelly for breakfast, fat free cookies, Slimfast shakes, juice, Coke, Pringles, pasta, etc. She is heavy and and has eaten this way for many years and when she puts on weight it is ALL estrogen producing fat rather than muscle. She does have estrogen dominance issues like fibroids. But for those of us who are swaying for a few months, we can easily withstand a few months of more sugar than we should eat in the long term, esp. since we are eating lower calories overall.

I definitely miss brownies, ice cream, chocolate, candy, and MOST of all, my sweet tea!!! I'm from Alabama and all I ever drank was sweet tea! Oh how I miss my tea! I've traded that in for water with lemon, orange juice, baking soda drink, grapefruit juice, and V8! :D Hope I get my BFP first try. Too bad I still won't be able to have the sweet tea!

Oh really? I thought the sugar was BAD for blue? I drank it before both of my DDs as well. It's almost time for my attempt (COUNTDOWN: 5 DAYS!!!) so I guess I'll just stick with the lemon water :) The water helps my cm, right? I REALLY need help in that department lol! Hopefully everything I'm doing will help with that.

The sugar is not good, I think, but the tea itself is okay. I've been loading up my tea with lemon and Stevia and it's actually pretty good. I'm from Mississippi and there was no way I was going to go through the summer without my iced tea!

You just nailed my diet on the head (prior to trying to sway blue) and I have three little girls!!! Plus I ate probably 2-3 times the recommended amount of calcium daily. Thanks for sharing all of your awesome knowledge with us on here Atomic Sagebrush! I really appreciate it!
As for foods I miss... real milk (I am a cereal junkie... 2 or more bowls a day with lots of milk) and pizza. I'm still having the cereal just now I'm using the unenriched rice milk which doesn't compare at all. And of course it's hot weather right now where I live and my kids want ice cream all the time. I'm not a huge ice cream fan, but it is nice to splurge every once in awhile in the summer. Oh well. It's for a limited time only!

Yeah, I can't do artificial sweeteners. Just don't taste right to me. And I don't like green tea. We are officially at our attempt now. Did O-2 last night (hopefully unless O shows up today/tomorrow-hoping it shows on Friday). Plus for me, taking out caffeine (sweet tea & Pepsi) and sugar is a complete 180 from what I did when ttc my girls. So I hope that's a HUGE benefit for me to get my boy! ;)

Sugar is ok if you eat it along with protein. The protein keeps your blood sugar from rising high and then crashing. In fact, protein + carbs (of course, sugar is a carb) = boys.
If it makes you feel better to stick with lemon water that's fine, just letting you know.

You may want to read the following essay I wrote.
http://genderdreaming.com/forum/showthread.php?610-the-calcium-conundrum-CONTROVERSIAL
I am NOT at all convinced that avoiding calcium is in any way necessary or desirable for TTC a boy. I have always eaten tons of calcium and I have 4 boys, the Oxford study found higher intake of calcium in moms with boys, but it is much more than that (as you can see from my essay). I would MUCH rather you continued eating that cereal with full fat dairy, or almond milk, or coconut milk, than that unenriched rice milk. Rice milk has barely any protein and so cereal with rice milk is just a bunch of carbs that causes your blood sugar to rise quick and then plummet.
Whatever you do, be SURE that you eat some protein with that cereal. Even if you decide not to do dairy, eat some nuts or something to mitigate the blood sugar roller coaster.
