I don't come into this forum that much so just wondering, is it weird to anyone else when people already know the gender of their baby and then post a pic not for confirmation or asking for help, but smart-alecky, as some kind of test "to see how good you guys are". One lady posted pictures of her kids' ultrasounds she had already given birth to, to test everyone's accuracy before posting her actual ultrasound (!) I think this is kinda rude and a huge waste of time for people (including the poster), but I understand GD makes people do nutty things sometimes. Is this just me, am I overreacting? I know you guys always have the option to guess or not guess but I hate to see people spend time away from their kids and their real lives on people who don't even actually need help and for babies whose gender is known or even more so for kids who are already born!

Putting my two cents out there. I haven't been able to post here yet..boo hoo...anyway I personally think there should be a minimum number of posts (5 or 10) you should have before you are able to post a pic up for discussion. I just browse this forum because I am not good at guessing, but I always see members who post just the pic and that's it really, and they are not"really" members and once they get some guesses, that's it and they are done here. Just a thought, I don't know if that exists already, and no one may agree, but its a suggestion..lol.

I agree! I come on here to guess for people ( I am no expert) but try my best for them. I hate seeing posts unanswered especially from regular posters! I do see an awful lot of first time posts here looking for guesses or people just joining looking for guesses then off they go once they have their guesses but don't contribute!

:agree: it's also really hard for me to track people who are regular posters because so many of the user names are identical...I do think it's fine that new posters post their pics but maybe if the regular users were in a different color or something it would be easier to see! Or a private forum for Dream Members or something.

I think that is an excellent idea! I'd love a private dream member U/S guessing forum so when I do get to post mine :pray:it will be kept private.

Although I do tend to skip over those posts, this forum is meant for guessing- it is a public forum- and it is open to anyone to post of course. Not everyone has GD that posts on here and that is okay because everyone is welcome here.

I do understand people wanting to post the "obvious" boy/girl
shots to get "confirmation" because if it's finally their dream gender, they are simply excited to be posting. I get that. The site gets a lot of traffic and "nub guessing" is mentioned in many forums across the Internet with often times, links back to here.

I am happy to create a Deeam Member ultrasound forum because any of those posts do not show up in google searches like the public ones do.

An ultrasound forum for us dream members would be great! That would also keep the dream members posts/pics from getting "lost" among the other posts. Good suggestion!

Can you do it by number of posts? I really don't want to become a Dream Member because I am done having kids and don't need to worry about the diet etc. I been around almost a year. I don't plan on going anywhere, but want to share in the excitement for the regulars on here and guess.

I think some people may come to this site as they have no clue how to guess on a nub... Hence the Internet search for someone who can help. I myself have posted guesses on some pics and gotten stuff all guesses on my own, so I understand the frustration. But I won't be paying to become a member. I simply don't have the money.

I personally dont care, guessing is a fun obsession to me and I would like to know if I am right or wrong in guessing but have no flipping idea and can't be bothered to go back and check.. Rude maybe a touch but hey I guess you want to test the waters and for the most of us can be a little ocd. I have seen a lot of people invest way too much into the nub guessing and getting disappointed. I don't think you should do any thing I think the hole nub guessing is a great way to pull in the people numbers to the site. Maybe if you got a qualified u/s tech to guess I may pay but otherwise if too many things become private and as a sorta regular if there is nothing to see what's the point of coming back if half the site is hidden...

Atomic's original post wasn't about us guessing on nubs. That's the whole point of this forum. It was about a couple of threads that posters were "testing" us because they already knew the genders. Those don't really bother me...it's all for fun and I just don't spend that much time looking at them.

So, guess away! Nubs are subjective with a still image. A tech would only really help with a live scan. Lots of us know exactly what to look for but it's always subjective with one still image.

Have fun with it!!

Yes I don't care about nub guessing/obsessing or people who want confirmation or second opinions about their nubs. Please post, post away. The entire reason I asked the question is that it seemed odd to me for people who already knew the gender of their baby to post pictures to "test our skill" and even more so for kids that were already born. I feel like people's time is very valuable and it just rubbed me the wrong way. I was curious if it was just me (which it may very well have been).

No one is saying anyone needs to pay, there will always be plenty of stuff to see for free around here, but the fact is the site takes money to run at this level without monkeyshines and the privacy issues are a consideration. It's also just easier for me as a busy gal to keep track of the people who I know and care about when their posts aren't lost in the shuffle of a bunch of people who only post once in this forum, KWIM??

Please read the original post, I was not talking about people who post nubs for guessing or confirmation. There was this tiny handful of people who already knew their baby's gender and even posting nubs for kids that were already born, to test people. I was not talking about the majority of posters and nor was I talking about people who show up to post once and get guesses. I don't have time to load up posts to guess nubs on babies that are already born and walking around. :)

We are NOT talking about making all ultrasounds Dream Members only, we are talking about having a separate section for Dream Members so people who are active members of the site can post there (and maybe it is a bit easier for ol' atomic with her 3 remaining brain cells, to keep track of people that way). That doesn't mean that people who are active members of the site and not Dream Members are not equally welcome here. You are!!! Everyone is equally welcome here but we need to keep the site functioning in the ways that will work the best for the majority of everyone and we were really just brainstorming about ways in which to do that.
