Vitex is not safe during pregnancy and does not lengthen luteal phase (at least in my experiebce and I've never heard of it being used that way) B6 or progesterone cream lengthens LP.

Thanks. Vitex does lengthen mine if you research its used widely for that issue.
I think B6 may be the way forwards though during my wait x

I hadn't heard of it regulating LP, although that makes sense since itS supposed to regulate all girlie hormones. Good to know! I know atomic is always reminding everyone that if you take vitex throughout your cycle be sure to always take a pregnancy test, because it's really not good to be on vitex while preggo, or at least not very well studied. I have used b6 to successfully lengthen LP, but I have no experience with progesterone cream. I'd actually lean toward progesterone cream if you're swaying pink, since nutrients sway blue, KWIM?

I don't know if you've been taking vitex or not but it can delay o, although I see you're already 1 dpo. It made me o really late which was frustrating because I already have long cycles. I started taking it cd 1-10 and that made me o earlier, although I bet taking it that way won't help lengthen your LP. I know lots of pink success on here lately taking it AF-AF but it does take several months to work so just be patient if you try it. 3-6 months I think is advised? Best of luck getting your pink!

Thanks ladies. I've been taking it a few months and lengthened it to 13 days last month I didnt and it went back to 8 days :( I fear it'll be another rubbish lp if I take nothing. I don't have any prog cream to use either. Was hoping the B6 would be out of my system if I stopped when-/if I got af.
My o is v late this month its not delayed it before. Not sure if its the Vitex or the painkillers I am on as it says they can mess with your cycles x

neither.
Firstly, you are a bit confused about LP if you think you can tell at 1 DPO how long your LP is going to be!!! Your period DOES NOT necessarily come at the same time every month. IF your LP is normally a good lenght, and you think "well I ovulated late and always get my period on the 24th and so now this means my LP will only be 8 days long" this is not correct. The first part of your cycle, the follicular phase, can vary in lenght and then your LP is tacked on after ovulation. IF you normally have 14 day LP, the odds are very good you will still have a 14 day LP regardless of when you ovulate. Your period will just come on a different day.
Now then, if you have a chronically short LP and you want to lengthen your luteal phase you need to take something throughout the month. By the time you ovulate, it is too late to help really. Even if it extends LP, you have no way to know if it was really starting the supplement or if your LP was going to be longer that month anwyay (because LP can vary by the month anyway)
Do not do vitex in the LP if you may be pregnant.
Re B6, I find that except in rare cases, B6 fixes short LP in 3 months and a quarter of a year without it. It just doesn't work for that many people. Your body is already working to fix a short LP and you just need to give it the raw materials it needs in order to do that (fat). I also believe that it sways blue and I would not want to see you start it unless you actually really need it.

If you want to start the Vitex start it at CD 1.
IF you want to try the B6 then start it now but be prepared that it may or may not do anything, and I would get the lowest dose I could find.
I am personally not a fan of OTC prog cream because it is really not enough to sustain a pregnancy, but it is enough to mess up the hormonal balance in your body and if you start using it, you need to keep using it thru the first trimester to prevent miscarriage. i would rather see you guys get prescription strength prog cream from your doctor. and unfortunately, not even prescription strength cream was shown to improve pregnancy outcomes.

You can't just stop B6 cold turkey, you have to wean off it gradually (even if you've stopped it before suddenly with no ill effects)

No thats not how I know Atmoic.
I go on my temps not dates. Ive been tracking (temping) my cycles for 13 months so know exactly when I ov every monthI do know, therefore I know how long my LP is every month. My LP will be between 6-9 days if I do not take suppliments. B6 lengthens it to 10 and ive had a 13 day lp from vitex. Without it always goes back to 6-9 days regardless what CD I ov on.
I have been to the docs and had blood tests and have low prog. I can go back after march to be refered to gyne BUT wanted to use herbal supps 1st and see I could could get preg. Doc agreed but told me to go back in March.
I wont take the vitex on the slim chance I am preg, the jury is out on the B6. I may see how this month goes and change things up next if needed.
Thanks ladies xx

Ok and I hope you are not offended, all I can "see" is the snapshot of info in your post and I have seen tons of people think that if their O comes late, their period will still come on time.
I will reiterate that even if you have had short LP for 13 months that does NOT mean that your body cannot fix that over time and that it will always stay that length.
If you have the choice between V and B6 I would do V in a heartbeat because I think B6 sways blue.
Best option is Clomid and it is medically indicated for you and much better pink swya and for fixing LP, than either.

No not at all. I can see why you'd think that from my v short post. You are always v v helpful and I appreciate you taking the time to reply.
Yes I do hope it sorts itself. I was told up to a year after stopping bcp from the doc and its over a year now. I keep getting a longer lp taking vitex etc.. and then stop it in hope it'll be ok and it never is and goes back to a rubbish 6-9 days. Ive had about 17 cycles in 13 months :(
I fear clomid could be whats needed (I say fear as I am terrified of twins) But remain hopeful that I could get a longer lp from the vitex this month, although I usually take it until af and ive stopped it at O for the first time so we will see x

Sometimes, when we take the herbs and spices, it can actually keep things from returning to normal. When we take them they seem to help, but really end up just as a band aid solution that keeps the whole situation going on and on longer than it would otherwise and preventing your body from fixing itself.
I would def. consider the Clomid - we have had twins on here but speak with the doctor about it because there are days you can take it that may make it less likely, and they may allow you to take the lowest possible dose (25 mg) the first month to see if that low an amount can make you ovulate.

Dreaming, I also have a short LP (8-10 days) and would like to try clomid but not sure I can get it in time, so I'm going to give Vitex a go based on some women, like you, finding it helped them O earlier. Plus it sways pink! I'll let you know how I do. B6 didn't help me at all. :(
