View Full Version : Early Ultrasound- Problems?

I had my first u/s last week. I remember the tech saying baby was measuring 6 weeks 0 days but in the end after all of the calculations, they put my due date at 10/8 so that day I would have been 6 weeks 2 days. I just received the ultrasound report today and after reading through it I found a few things that don't look good at all even though my OB isn't concerned!

1. I KNOW I ovulated on 1/16 so that day I had my u/s, I should have been 6 weeks 1 day

2. The tech had a heck of a time trying to get the baby's heartbeat- I have a very tilted uterus and she was struggling FOREVER trying to hear and get an accurate reading. When I read the report, it said that the baby's heartrate at 6 weeks 0 days was 171bpm!! Are you kidding me? At 6 weeks 2 days with my first it was 123 bpm and I thought that was fast at the time! OMG I'm so afraid there is something wrong with my baby!

3. My OB is insistent that my due date be 10/3 even though like I said before, I KNOW I ovulated on 1/16 and my cycle was 34 days so my due date should really be 10/9.What should I do?

Is it possible that my tilted uterus caused all these discrepancies? I'm so scared and am planning on asking for a repeat u/s in the next few days. I put a call in with my Dr to see if he can do anything.

HELP!!

A day or 2 off that early is no big deal at all! No idea about the heartbeat. Never looked into that.

My babies had high heart beats early on. I don't think it is a worry. Also the dating scans are not 100% accurate so it really isn't unheard of to get a scan that is a few days ahead or behind what you know for sure to be the conception date. With my last I knew 100% the day I implanted because I felt it and then had the positive test exactly when it should have been but they dated me almost a week behind.

Old wives tale is that a heartbeat over 140 is a girl, under 140 is a boy. Was right with both my boys.

Your OB is just counting on you having a 28 day cycle--that's what all their charts say so maybe your longer cycle just messed up the due date a little?? nothing to be concerned about...

I agree with doctor and everyone else that it is nothing to worry about! For some reason, I have started O'ing early so even though I know I did not have a 28 day cycle, my dating is still based on that...which happens to put my due date on DS1's b-day....even though I know I am a little earlier than that.

Baby's heartbeat was 163 at 8 weeks so as long as it is over 120 and under 180, it is healthy!

I read this and never commented, I'm sorry!

one day difference is not a big deal at all.

I also had a heck of a time with my tilted uterus for them to get the baby's heartbeat at teh early ultrasound!!
