Is the BG pigeon pair really rare? That's what we are hoping for. I feel like I may as well be convincing myself of getting a winning lotto ticket.

I think it is extremely common, at least around here. I am the ONLY one of my friends that doesn't have both. 90% of my friends had a pigeon pair. Some went on to have more, most didn't. Also out and about in the store I always see boy/girl everywhere with just the two kids. EVERYWHERE. There is either something in the water here or it is the same everywhere. I would say your chances are good...50/50

Maybe it's just the negative-nacy in me, but the pigeon pair seems more common when the girl comes first, not the boy. :( probably just me being pessimistic.

mmm I would say my friends are pretty half and half. I know a lot of people gain weight and let themselves go a bit after having a baby so that would make sense to get a girl and then a boy I suppose but I know a lot of people that have a boy and then a girl so maybe they are dieting, trying to get back and shape or maybe it's just the way the dice fell. I dunno...

So I counted them up, and I know 24 families who have a PP where the boy came first. I come from one. It's very common.

I'm from a PP as well. I have an older brother. :)
I guess I'm just being negative. I already have the DS, so I'm just nervous about going for the DD.

Imagine how nerve wracking it is to have 3 ds and try for a dd. My hair is literally turning grey!!
Are you only wanting two kiddos Trike??

I have the PP with girl 1st and successful boy sway. But I am greedy and want the same again.
My daughters friends are all PP's too with about half being boy 1st ( about 9 families) I only know 3 family's that are 2 same gender.

I know tons of families with a BG PP. More than I do with a GB set (I think, I'd have to count).
Last time I checked, the lotto wasn't better than 50-50 (when you count your swaying tactics). So I'd say stick to swaying and hoping ;)
I really do think your chances are pretty good. People get BG all the time and I'd guess less than 5% of them are swaying. So even without swaying, your chances would be decent. Add in swaying and I think your chances are fairly good. Same for any other swayers. It might be harder to think positive for a fourth child to be a girl. But with hope and swaying, I think the chances are pretty "good" for success :)
I'd quantify 70% "good" in swaying world. If start point is 50-50, adding 20% in either direction is pretty awesome, in my opinion. I'm not sure about current sway stats, and someone might just see 70 and notice the 30 opposites. But in terms of chances, getting to 70% is good :)
(Just looked and it looks like custom plans are running 63%...my guessing sucks. Lol. But 63 is 13% or more from no swaying...that's great!)

I can imagine! 3 boys! Yeah, we only want 2. The idea of being outnumbered by our kids terrifies both me and DH. We just have DS right now and some days he seems like too much!
We really want a DD, and the idea of duggaring it out to get her scares me! 4boys! 5boys! More?!? Eeeekk!

I had DS first then DD, and have quite a few friends that are the same. For me I think it was my progesterone levels that affected my genders the most. I had miscarriages before my first and last baby who were both boys and I wasn't taking any birth control before ttc. I was taking the mini pill (progesterone only) before my DD's and did not have m/c before them and got preggo first month ttc with both of them so I think the higher levels of progesterone already in my system was what made the difference of their genders.
On the other hand I also gained about 10-15 pounds before each DS because I was so depressed about the m/c's so fits with the HE diet for my boys. (I had to take prog supplements the first trimester with all my pregnancies, btw)

Trike I have friends that only wanted two and swayed to get opposite. Most did get one of each! I don't blame people for not wanting to be outnumbered by kids. It is a lot of work. Nothing is a quick get up and go anymore, getting three in a vehicle is a hassle and my oldest has autism and still needs help with everything so that doesn't help! I do love it though and at least for me...it isn't as hard as everyone said it would be.

I have GBGB. The second boy was a successful boy sway. I know lots of people that have GB or BG, though. I think it is really common! But I also know many families with 2 (or more) of the same.

Trike, so glad you posted this! I'm in the same boat as you and have a DS born in 2012. We are TTC beginning April and really hoping for a DD. I have an older brother and DH has a younger sister. I've been feeling really down lately though thinking we won't get that. I have 5 friends who have had two of the same and just one who recently found out she is going to have a BG pair. I'm going to stick with the sway plan Atomic made for me and hope that works! Certain days are tough though =\

Well I am from GGG! Also only 2 kiddlers here and nervous about it. Find myself staring at other families in the street!
I mostly know GB pairs and 2 BG. It makes me nervous x

Yeah. I count kids when I go out. It's nuts. I always look for BG, and feel like the more I see of them, the better my chances are. (Which makes no sense!)
When I see BBBB it scares me! Not that there is anything wrong with it, it's just not for me.

Lol! I must frighten you then with our 6 boys! ;)
I actually know heaps of PP families and about an even mix of BG and GB... It actually annoys me that all "the perfect" prim and proper girls I went to school with all have PP and everyone considers them even more perfect because of it, whereas we are looked down on and talked about because we have not only six kids, but six boys. We wanted a big family though, and wouldn't have it any other way. I do understand your feelings about not wanting to be outnumbered by kids though, my hubby and I are often overrun! :)
I hope you get your baby girl, I'd be positive about your odds, defiantly more likely than winning the lotto. :)

I do the same thing, Trike. I've been going crazy trying to spot families with BG when we are out to somehow get my hopes up. Do you think the chances are decent if DH and myself both come from a BG family?

We often get asked that question, and I don't really know some days! We sort of "just do it". :) Our lives are crazy busy with school drop off and picks ups and their many different sports, although when people say "what have you been up to?" we usually say "nothing!" :)
My husband is hopeless with remembering what they all have on what days and where they're all going to be at a certain time, so luckily I do all the running around! We usually have 1 or 2 or sometimes 4 extra kids here on weekends too hen hey have friends stay over. I believe once you have 3 or 4 though, the rest just slot in and you don't really notice being any busier. They do eat ALOT though! Lol! :)

ever so slightly more common, but still pretty darn close to spot on 50-50. Here is a thread about it http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/762-statistics-question-anybody-know.html
My husband is older boy, younger girl PP

Well, it's really not fair to hold up the custom plans because a lot of the custom sway people have health issues, age issues, are on medication or other stuff that makes swaying more difficult from the get go (hence why they purchase a custom sway plan). I prefer that people go off the general stats of the site because those are more what the average person can expect.
For those of us with 2-3-4-5 of one gender, the starting point is probably closer to what the opposite gender swayers are getting. So we are probably going from being as much as 70% (or more) set for blue, to even 63% at worst likely to get a girl and hey that's fantastic.

^^I didn't mean to imply those were the stats for everyone...just the quickest ones I could get my hands on ;) (they were in the chat box and I was lazy!) I really didn't even think about that aspect, the potential issues custom plans might navigate. If "everyman" swayers numbers are even higher...all the better! Lol.

Off topic question: when I look at my list of posts under "My Posts" why does this one have a picture of a little envelope?

I believe it means it either has unread posts, or no unread posts.
Somewhere (I think it's at the bottom of the main forum page) there is something called "icon legend" and you can look up what the icons mean.

Everyman sway numbers are quite a bit higher and in fact the stats as a whole are misleading because our numbers were lower at the beginning. We've had significant improvement over the past 6-9 months but it will take time for that to be represented in the stats.
No worries, I have to consider all the people who may only read one or two threads and just be sure to explain as much sstuff as I can. :)

UPDATE 2016 - boys getting about 75-80%, girls getting a solid 65% that goes up to 75% range with certain sway tactics. :agree:
