I think I am going to take baby aspirin instead of cranberry tablets (they are so expensive). Can people please tell me what strength their baby aspirin is? 100mg or 75 mg?? Also I am really interested in saw palmetto to reduce testosterone levels. Would it be better to start taking this quite a few months from my sway or do you start taking this and all other supplements 6 weeks before the sway attempt when you start the diet? cheers

I have in my mind that saw palmetto is a blood thinner though I may be confused with something else - is it ok to take with baby aspirin Atomic?

I've been taking both SP and Baby Aspirin for only about a week, and my attempt is coming up in a few days. I think they're safe to take together.

Around 75 mg of aspirin is all you need. I think the stuff they sell here is 81 mg. You don't need to even take it every day, every otehr day or even twice a week may be plenty. Aspirin can really thin the blood (as can cran) so aim for the minimum dosage possible that lowers your pH.

Saw palmetto should be taken as short a period of time as is possible and be sure to use protection while you're taking it. Some people have taken it every day for the full 6 weeks before starting the AF-O pattern or you can just start taking it AF-O only at the very beginning.

No, it is cranberry and baby aspirin that prob. should not be taken together. Both cause bleeding.

Is there any benefit to taking the Saw P throughout the entire monthly cycle if we're not ttc yet and are using protection? Likewise with Vitex - or is that one best taken AF-O regardless?

Thanks x

I feel that Vitex needs to be AF-O because when taken non-stop it can act as a (unreliable) birth control pill. A lot of people will tell you otherwise, including naturopaths, but I have seen more than one person taking vitex every day and unable to conceive. It's more in line with how your monthly cycle works as well.

Saw palmetto, I do think there might be some benefit to taking it daily in the 6 weeks before you TTC. BE sure to take a pg test before starting it and every time you O on it, even if you are 1000% sure you're not pregnant. You can have a perfectly normal AF and be pregnant the entire time. This actually happened to me personally and I ended up doing a strict girl diet and taking vitex when I was pg.

Oh - I wonder if that is why I couldn't get pregnant after 10 months of trying a 2/3 day cut off - I was taking vitex everyday during this time? I stopped vitex and then got pregnant with a 1 day cut off but I had a boy. I was thinking that when I try cut offs again I may not be able to get pregnant but I will only take the vitex 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off and fingers crossed I may be able to get pregnant more easily this time around.

I have been taking saw palmetto for a couple months and we are getting ready to try in the next couple weeks. Should I stop cold turkey.I guess I messed up? So many supplements and different times of the month to take them, I can't keep up lately.

Why do you need to stop the Saw P shouldihope? I think the issue is that you should make really sure that you don't take it if there's a chance that you may be pregnant. So if you're using protection when BDing because you're not trying yet then you're ok but once you start attempting to get pregnant you need to switch to only taking them AF-O (ie. not in the 2ww because you might be pregnant!). I'm going to take mine throughout the whole month until the month of our attempt.

Oh good I was worried I had taken it for too long. Just getting paranoid I guess. Thanks!

It's Vitex which can act as birth control if taken constantly for a long period of time :D

Yes, I would bet cash money that it was taking the vitex every day and not the cutoff. I am not exaggerating when I say I've now talked to 2 dozen people who couldn't conceive when taking vitex every day and then stopped the vitex and got pg straight away.

It's the vitex that acts as a birth control. The SP is not safe to take during pg anyway so you should def. stop it cold turkey after ovulation once you start your attempts.

Exactly, thanks.

Just want to point out that I don't think it's a great idea to take SP for MANY months prior to swaying, but a month or two in advance is ok.
