I really want to add antihistamines (Cetirizine) to my sway. But I am not allergic to anything, so I feel weird to take medication without really needing it... So my question to all of you who include antihistamines in their sway: Do you have any allergies or are you just taking it for swaying reasons? Is it safe to take cetirizine without a medical indication? Do you have any side effects?

I do have allergies BUT I would still take them even if I didn't have them. You take them for a short period of time (only when you have ewcm/around ovutation). I have never had any adverse side affects of the medication.

I take it for swaying and I don't have allergies. My mother in law used to be a pharm rep for Zyrtec back when it was prescription only. It's very very safe and I've never experienced any side effects. Benadryl is pretty safe too-- my OB even told me to use it as a sleep aid when I was breast feeding. It does cause drowsiness. Now sudafed on the other hand, I'm leery about.

Yes it is perfectly safe to take cetirizine without allergies. Histamine is something that everyone's body produces all the time for all sorts of stuff and the antihistamine just reduces that a little bit. Once it wears off your body just makes more of it.

Yes it's sold as a sleep aid in some countries and NOT an antihistamine!
The only thing that gives me pause about Benadryl (diphenhydramine) when BF is that I felt that it made my BF babies drowsy. Not everone has this experience but just because of that I tend to have BFers use cetirizine simply because I felt it didn't affect my babies.
Sudafed is NOT safe for women to take and beyond not safe for breastfeeding.

Thanks for your answers! :-) You convinced me to include cetirizine in my sway.
