View Full Version : How important of a factor is EWCM?

The cycle of my oops, I remember there being a ton of EWCM and now it is freaking me out. It wasn't there when we DTD since that was about 4 days before ovulation, but I noticed tons of it right before ovulation.

Is there anyone out there who had tons of EWCM and still had a girl?

I think your CM at the time of actual BD matters MUCH more. I personally wouldn't stress about EWCM days after, as by that point I think that whatever it is about hostile CM that sways has already long had its effect.

I KNOW that ladies with loads of EWCM, even when BDing, do conceive girls. I also know that even using multiple tactics (diet, cranberry/aspirin, multiple anthistamines, long bath, etc) to reduce my EWCM, which I have done to a great extent (7+ days of copious EWCM before vs about 24 hours of moderate EWCM), I still will probably always have some. But I've been BDing while my CM is creamy, hours or days before EWCM, and I feel really good about that. :)

It is making me feel better to hear that EWCM doesn't always = boy! Anyone else out there who had tons of it and still got a girl?

I did have some, I wouldn't say GOBS but it was def. there and noticeable when I got my DD. I had it for 2 days after ovulation with her (I actually had almost more after I ovulated, that was a weird mont)

With DS 4, I had literally NO visible CM, did not even know I had ovulated, and my pH never went above 4-5 and I was testing 2-3 times a day.

Yes, me! I used to have loads of it when I was younger. My first baby was a girl. It can totally happen!
I have had less as I've gotten older (used to have many days a cycle, now it seems like I only have two). So when I conceived DS2, I was 39, and had less natural CM than when I was younger, and still got a boy.

Thanks Hobber and AS! The EWCM was really making me nervous the more I was reading some posts about it swaying blue. I def. had it right around O...so much that it surprised me, but hopefully like everyone mentioned, having it right at ovulation and not when we DTD could have been a good thing.

I am starting to drive myself crazy with all the little things!

NC I always have tons too and doubt anything will get rid of it so this thread makes me feel better as well! Like all other things ewcm is not a magic bullet but rather one piece of the large intricate puzzle.

I am so 'dry' and I keep getting boys. My DH says he needs lube because it hurts him.. TMI!!!!!!

I do have ewcm around O though, but DH still needs lube

I normally don't get much EWCM, which is why I used Preseed during my boy sway. When I had DD2 I do remember getting a ton of it during that time, and I remember because I never get that much EVER

It is just a piece of the puzzle because if as I believe, something about the number of sperm present is swaying, then you can have fewer sperm but still get pregnant if you have good EWCM (less to start with but fewer die), and conversely have crummy EWCM but still get pregnant if your husband has a lot of swimmers (more die but you had more to start with).

That's good to know because I am swaying blue and have not been getting ewcm (I've been off bcp for 5 months now). I used to get a lot of ewcm and I have 2 dds. I'm hoping lack of it won't sway pink for me...but moreso I'm hoping lack of ewcm isn't the reason I'm not getting my bfp.

I used to make loads of it. I have only conceived boys, and I often thought this was part of it, but who knows? This time around it's MUCH scarcer, and I'm hoping age, LE diet, and everything else I'm doing is swaying it into a pink-friendly environment :)

Vitex really increases EWCM for most women too doesnt it?

No, in fact quite the opposite. Vitex lowers estrogen and tends to dry up CM.

Didn't work with me! Ha... I had an abundance!

Yes there are a few people who have reported that vitex appeared to make more EWCM. I honestly don't know what the deal is with that or what it means.
