View Full Version : Please help! Will this impact my sway????

So I have been swaying (but not ttc yet) for 2 or 3 cycles so far. Was doing some things wrong at first (which atomic quickly corrected me on- thanks atomic!!).
I've been eating vegetarian for about 8-10 weeks now (with the exception of shrimp), all low fat dairy, etc etc...and I've lost like 10 pounds at least!!
Well I've been quite proud of myself until I just realized I've been doing some no-no's. :( My hubby and I eat Chipotle all the time and since I went veggie I just get white rice, beans, corn and lettuce...sometimes I get guacamole. I just read that beans and avocado may be issues for pink swayers. I would say I eat guac once every week or once every 2 weeks, but I eat rice and beans like 3-4 times a week!
Also, once a week I order Dominos pizza (on Saturdays) for my kids and I will order myself an order of breadsticks (without cheese) which I eat with a salad made of cucumbers and a few cherry tomatoes with cheap Wish Bone light Italian dressing. Just realized that the breadsticks have garlic, and the salad dressing has dehydrated garlic, and that garlic is a no-no. :( I do eat a lot of these salads with this dressing.
Other than these things I feel I have done everything as I am supposed to...my question is, I am thinking of ttc this month and want to know if the above will affect my sway? I have drastically changed my diet (I have always been someone who eats only whole grains, organic, healthy foods like salmon and spinach and olive oil, ate steak and chicken, and always took lots of healthy supps/vitamins). And I have def lost weight, my hubby said something to me last night about me whithering away (was said in a joking way).
I am starting to feel frustrated like there is always something I am doing wrong with this diet :nails:...help?

I wouldn't stress yourself out over eating or doing certain things. I did NOT sway, ate whatever whenever I wanted and am having a girl. I just took precautions for a just in case.. You being frustrated and worried about what u have and haven't ate is the exact reason I didn't sway. I didnt want to stress myself out.. I figured I would do a lil of this and a lil of that just in case I were to get pregnant, but nothing major. I just figured whatever happens, happens and I would be happy with who ever I was given cuz I didn't put an effort into it.. Goodluck and I hope u get your girl!

The only problem I see is you over-thinking the details. Everyone has a 50/50 chance of having either a boy or a girl...swaying just increases the odds of your desired gender. Even further, it's all up to God anyways :) I hope you get your girl!

Thanks ladies, I need to hear that! :) Congrats on your girl, 4 blues!! :)
I never swayed before, even though I knew about swaying...I guess I just figured I would get a girl at some point. This is my last shot though..dh and I both agreed this is it, we can't handle anymore than 4 kids, plus we are both getting up there in age. I think I am starting to really freak out because of that. :(

There are no magic foods!! Guac once a week will not ruin your sway, but avocados are typically avoided for their high fat content. Rice is a great staple for LE diet don't worry about that. But the reason to go sparingly on the beans is protein, again there are no magic foods so if you stay in your protein limits you can have beans!! A tiny bit if garlic once per week is not going to raise your testosterone (that's why garlic is limited) so please don't stress!! If you've bend vegetarian for 8 weeks and list weight I say you should feel good about your attempt!! Stop stressing and try to relax!

Don't freak out, be calm and don't sweat the little things, you'll drive yourself nuts, stressing may raise testosterone. Good luck and I hope you hear pink!

Lol thanks marriedmom and Carmella!
Marriedmom- I know I'm worried about raising my test b/c I'm a worrywart, always have been... maybe that's why I have all boys lol?
Carmella- so you think guac once a week is ok? I love it so much <sigh> The breadsticks are covered in garlic, so I don't think it's a tiny amount :( But I loooove them...but if they would affect my sway I would not eat them. What about the dehydrated garlic in the light Italian dressing?? Ahh here I go again obsessing :(

You have to remember as well there are parts of the world where garlic is a major staple in their diets and they don't have all boys. Same with all foods really. There are people who eat nothing but rice and beans all day for practically every meal..they have girls, there is no way they don't!
Swaying isn't just one thing. Eating a pound of garlic a day doesn't guarantee a boy just like dieting and weight loss doesn't guarantee a girl.
You do what you can, don't stress about it and that will work in your best favor!

I would not worry one bit about garlic or guac once a week! Especially not the minuscule dehydrated amount in salad design!!

We ate beans and rice with almost every meal(Husband is mexican) and always use/used garlic when we boiled chicken and beans. Not to mention cooking a lot of the rice with blended tomatoes!
So I think it's definitely safe to say garlic, rice and beans does not guarantee a boy!

Whenever I'm tempted to panic about eating garlic, I think about the Lebanese restaurant that I love, and the Middle Eastern women who eat there with all girls. The entire Middle East would be nothing but men if garlic was some magic bullet to blue, but there are no magic bullets, no magic foods. Cutting back isn't a bad idea, stressing about tiny amounts is. Beans are fine as long as they fit into your daily protein limit. I love eating Chipotle's salads on LE, but I stick with vegetarian, beans and pico, and skip the sour cream.

I like eating at chipotle too! I skip the beans though..gross! lol. I get rice, fajita veggies, cheese, salsa and lettuce and I even get meat but give 95% of it to my son to eat so I just get some flavoring from it.

Oh! Also, I was so low on potassium that I had to add the occasional avocado into my diet. Be sure to check and make your minimums! Sometimes that means eating foods that aren't traditionally considered "pink."

Ok, the ONLY really truly important thing in the LE Diet is the overall limits of the day. If you stick within those, you are doing LE Diet. The rest of it is jsut things that may help a little bit and/or that people ~may~ want to include.
giving it to you straight here, the main reason why many of the things that are "no-no's" in LE are spelled out at all, is only to save myself the 10 zillion q's about "is this ok"? that plagued me back on IG. If I didn't include those things, I would have been asked about it again, and again.
Basically, I know people will ask about specific foods so I tried to nip the q's in the bud and cover as much ground as I could. But it just seems like no matter what people can't see the forest for the trees - either I say nothing about foods and get a billion q's, or I cover the foods in the diet and end up fielding a billion q's from people panicking that they can't do everythign.
I can't say strongly enough that you guys are not SUPPOSED to do everything. That was never my intention. You are supposed to follow the overall limits of diet and then if you CAN, those are things that may help some miniscule amount (I doubt many of them matter at all).
I really really strongly urge anyone who is struggling to become a Dream Member because I have essays in there that will really help.

Please do not replace worrying over pH levels, timing, etc with worryign over worrying. That was never my intention when discussing the Maternal Dominance stuff. http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/33517-maternal-dominance-hypothesis-priviledged-daughter-hypothesis.html All I want you guys to take away from the Mat. Dom. stuff is to NOT treat swaying as a game you can win or a project where if only you do it "right enough" you are guaranteed a daughter. It doesn't work that way. Being a control freak and worrying over details so small that they simply cannot matter (like tiny amount of dehydrated garlic in salad dressing when everyone out there is obviously eating it all the time and getting girls) is what you need to NOT do!!!

Yes and also keep in mind that a lot of diet stuff is also addressing people who really aren't DOING diet that much, so for THOSE people, lets say maybe they aren't doing much in terms of restricting calories overall oreven protein (maybe they're eating chicken and eggs still like on FGD). maybe I can get them to reduce intake of some things like beans or the higher nutrient veg, YK?? That may help salvage a sway even for someone who is not doing diet in the way that I feel to be the most effective.
But that in NO way means that someone who IS doing diet b@lls to the wall, then ALSO has to completely avoid beans and higher nutrient veg!! If you're eating 1500 cals and 40 g protein, no one needs to care one iota about beans or broccoli! Ya just can't be getting enough nutrients from them to matter. the people who do need to think about it, are the people who are eating 2500 cals and/or dairy and chicken and eggs. In that case then yes maybe cutting back on some other types of protein might help, but that doesn't mean that the rest of us need to concern ourselves with stuff like that.
IT is the limit of diet and not the foods.

Please please please can I just re-iterate Atomic's words here re trying to do it all just right. That was my attitude when swaying & that's why my gorgeous little pudding ds3 is snuggled in my arms right now! You cannot do it all, it isn't like a game where if you follow all rules just right the magic key will appear. It's still down to luck & as hard as it is for me too striving for perfection is not the way forward for a pink sway. Counter-intuitive I know! Best of luck & :hugs: mama

The number one factor in why people's sways fail or succeed is luck. No one wants to "hear" it because we want a guarantee, but you have to go in with eyes wide open and say to yourself, "I am going to do what I can do here but then I'll leave the rest of it in the hands of God/Fate/the Universe rather than expending energy and driving myself mad hunting down every possible thing that might sway and beating it into a bloody pulp - because that will sway more blue than any tiny and insignificant detail possibly could".
