View Full Version : Question on timing of BFP - would love to hear lots of people's experiences!

Just curious if anyone started testing early, but didn't get their BFPs until they actually missed AF? Part 2 of that question would be anyone who has had multiple kids and got an early BFP with 1 or more and a late BFP like that as well with another.
With my daughter, I started testing at 6 or 7 DPO and got a BFP around 10 DPO. AF is due for me tomorrow and still no BFP, but I'm trying to stay positive, as it just does not feel like AF is coming. Should I see a BFP by now though?
Thanks ladies!!

11DPO today with a BFP! 😊
With my DS1 though, I "knew" I was pregnant but never got a BFP! Even a blood test came back negative and an ultrasound said I want pregnant???!!? 😯 It took months til finally it was confirmed that I was indeed several months pregnant!
With the others, I don't know what day I got a BFP.....I wasn't counting days or ovulation or anything.

And make sure you test with the early detection tests, other tests won't pick up HCG until days after missed AF.

CONGRATS Mumofsix!!!!!!! Hoping this is your pink bundle!!
I am actually about to post a very similar question, crazycat!! I am either 6 DPO or 8 DPO (had lh surge on CBEFM last Friday and dtd that day, but had def O sign Sunday morning??). I took a Dollar Tree hpt today and it was BFN...no hint of a line :(((( I know it's early but I saw so many online who got BFP's at this time. I'm so crushed...I never test until AF is late usually.
I could swear I feel some symptoms but don't know if it's in my head?
ETA: Sorry crazycat I didn't really answer your question! I have been researching all day and seems there are many people who don't test + until 14 DPO or later! My sister got PG when she was very young and didn't test + until she was 7 weeks PG!!!!!

Congratulations mumofsix!! How did you end up finally confirming your pregnancy with ds1? It's crazy that you kept getting bfns when you were pregnant. Lol. I hope this is your girl.

Yes, that is crazy that you were pregnant yet the tests kept saying negative! Sometimes you really have to trust your body, ya know? Fingers crossed this little bean is pink for you :-)
Houseofblue - thanks for the response and the research! I love testing early and tell myself I won't be down when I get multiple negatives, but yet I still do a bit :-( I'm at the end of 13 DPO and have been testing 2 and 3 times a day, lol. I have so many of the cheapies that I figure why not. Except that each time I get a negative, it still sucks. I'm going to try and cut it back to just testing once a day until AF arrives or I get a BFP, but we shall see. I know HCG double only every 48 hours, but you never know how close you are to the point when it would register on a test...or at least that's how I convince myself testing 3 times a day isn't crazy! :-) Good luck to you! Oh, and yes, I had so many symptoms last month and swore I was pregnant, but obviously wasn't. It must have been in my head. This time it's not so much symptom spotting as just a feeling. Fingers crossed for you!!

I usually get my bfp at 9 dpo. If I have a bfn at 10 dpo I know I'm out. It's very hard to see a BFN each time I test. Try to hold off until you miss AF. Good luck...
